Birmingham City In For Newcastle Striker

News in the Daily Mirror today that Newcastle’s Nile Ranger is wanted on loan by new Birmingham manager Chris Hughton.

Nile Ranger – Birmingham interested

The current Birmingham strikers, Nikola Zigic and Cameron Jerome, who were one of the the weak links in the side last season because they just didn’t score enough goals, are out injured.

And new signing Marlon King is also injured, so it’s hardly surprising that Chris Hughton will turn to his former St James’ Park protege to help him out.

The almost 6’8″ Zigic has had surgery on a persistent groin problem, while King and Jerome have not trained since arriving back from vacation.

It’s not clear whether Newcastle will welcome a loan move for Nile Ranger, rather than a permanent deal, but we think that would be good for both parties, because it gives the 20 year-old a chance to show what he can do with regular games.

Nile would probably jump at the chance to go on loan to Birmingham, since he knows Chris Hughton very well, since Hughton was the manager who brought him through over the last couple of seasons on Tyneside.

Ranger played 30 times in Newcastle’s promotion season, and 28 times last season, and has scored 3 goals for the Magpies.

Comments welcome.

Let him go on a season long loan like. Hopefully he’ll find an eye for goal and sort out his off-field attitude problems.

  • Best option for him in my opinion. Sending him on loan with a manager that knows him will do wonders if he can get the confidence infront of goal!

On another note, Hoping Barton gets the new contract soon. 2 for 2, come on fat man open your eyes! Top scorer so far this season!

I dont think Barton will get offered another contract like, think he’s p1ssed off the fat man abit too much.

I think he’ll see out his contract here though.

Take him….for the love of god Hughton take him

Sort him out and get him scoring and your toon legend will keep growing…if he stays the same (foul attitude and can’t score) then least we know you tried and for that you can keep him

This seems like the perfect move to me. We don’t want him and the Erdington crew are desperate for a new gunman.

A full year in the Championship would do him good. I think if Hughton can’t then no one can sort out Ranger. I still have masses of respect for Hughton, and under a different ownership I would like him to return one day.

I am still disgusted with the way Cashley and weasel face have treated the managers of Newcastle United, ie Keegan, Shearer, Hughton and they have embarrased Pardew many times. I feel sorry for Pardew because he gets assurances and is not informed when they are changed, and is made to look like a fool

A season long loan benefits all 3 parties involved; he gets regular football,Brum acquire a young striker with the attributes to thrive in the CCC and we get a confident striker back after a season of regular football

Hughton did wonders… better record than dick heed pardew and all that without any assurances over a contract and no assistant for the last 2 months.. brummy’s gain is our loss.

A 1 year loan deal would be perfect for all the reasons quoted above, PLUS on the face of it we would have 1 less striker on our books , which in Ashley’s eyes might mean 1 more reason to buy another one. if you get my drift ?

When I first read the headline, I thought it might be referring to Leon Best. Now that would be a bad move imo. I think the lad is ideal cover material, and still has opportunity to develop into something better.

Off topic, watched Benfica v Toulouse the other day just to look at M’bengue. He’s so different from Jose, not so attack minded but very very solid defensively.None of Benfica’s tricky pacy wingers managed to go around him. Hope we go in for him if/when Enrique goes because we now have enough flair and creativity upfield so no need for an attack minded LB (Izzaguire,v.aanholt etc)

Would be a great move for Ranger to get more experience.

But you’d have to keep him away from that pathetic, wife-beating prick of a bloke Marlon King.

He’s proper scum and likely to be just the kind of influence someone like Ranger would attach himself to given his “previous”.

God knows why anyone would sign that d*ckhead. If it turns out like that then expect it to be the last you see of Ranger up here.

Within 24 hours according to earlier reports from Pardew apparently.

Fingers, toes and everything crossed like but Pardew himself said he think it’s not too bad.

Funny, but a lot of people criticised Hughton for not playing Ranger or not giving him enough time to get into the game. Now, however, Hughton is the best man for Ranger! And for anyone still crying about Hughton leaving he was good in the Championship but not the PL. I believe that just as players find their level, managers do the same.

I think this new ruling by our great Managment at the club to only allow away tickets to season ticket holders is not only disgraceful, but yet another 2 fingers up to NUFC supporting Public.

But they are crafty b’stards in this. Telling people that you can only go to an away match if you buy a season ticket????? Using the mentality of some imbeciles who go to a friendly to fight in order to sell more season tickets……..shameful!!!

Go you FCB and take your rats with you!!!

Best thing for us and ranger, once he gets a decent run in a team the goals will start coming and he will improve tenfold. If we sold him that would be one of yhe biggest cock ups in a longtime and that says alot for our track record. He starts to play, he gets goals, he will mature straight away as his whole mentality will change. Next season 20+ goals and England number 9 lol

Angryman the Angry fan – You hit the nail on the head there mate. Ashley has a good plan by the looks of it, bright future, and a nice academy coming through, aswell as being financially stable.

But we have a 35 million war chest, that is getting used on training facilities and wages!?

Ashley is starting to get on my nerves, he has made to many ‘mistakes’ for it to be coincidence.

you dont have to own a season ticket to buy away seats.. it says only people tht have season ticket or Club Membership.. so why dont people just buy the membership its like £20 for year or something and get 2nd option on home and away tickets so dont see the problem.. its just putting more money into the club.. all membership fees goes directly into imrpoving the academy aswel
