Sylvain Marveaux Will Become Big Player For Newcastle

We have to remember that Newcastle have three players coming back right now from long term and serious injuries.

Sylvain Marveaux – big player for Newcastle next season?

Those are Ben Arfa, Dan Gosling and new boy Sylvain Marveaux.

And as we are all too well aware, Ben Arfa has been injured again,  and it’s that same left leg – this time the ankle – that’s been injured.

But some good news is that Sylvain Marveaux looked very good on Wednesday evening, and was a little unlucky not to score in that first half.

The French winger will be challenging Newcastle favorite Jonas Gutierrez for that left wing spot, and played 45 minutes there in the 0-0 draw against Sporting Kansas, and Jonas then played the second half out on the left, after filling in at left back in those first 45 minutes.

Jose Enrique has a hamstring injury and was not available for the game, and our other left back, Shane Ferguson,  is out for several weeks after being injured in the first pre-season game a week ago at Darlington.

With Ben Arfa now back home in Newcastle,  Sylvain Marveaux could be the player to provide that creativity in the Newcastle side in the next couple of games in America.

The player is nicknamed “Sly” and certainly his manager Alan Pardew was pleased with what he saw from Sylvain on Wednesday night.

This is what Pardew said today:

“That was a big plus for us. He is going to be a big player for us this season.”

“Marveaux hasn’t played for 10 months – but he still showed glimpses of what he is all about.”

“We are looking forward to seeing a lot more from him. He is a great worker.”

Indeed from what we’ve seen so far from two of the new players from the French Leagues in the side, Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid, both are very skilled and are just the type of exciting and creative players Newcastle fans love to have in their side.

Next up are Orlando City tomorrow night, where both French lads will again get a chance to impress.

He looks a sharp, tricky little character and I think he can only get better for us.

I dont think it looks promising for Steve, we have to very good young lads fighting for no1. the only issue with them is will one of them be happy sitting on the bench as a sub? I dont think so.

@11 i cant see krul or forster being happy to sit on the bench this season, personally I would choose the number one whichever it be out of those 2 and sell the other make harper no2 and send soderberg out on loan for a couple of seasons until harper retires and then soderberg can compete for the no1 when harpers gone

Forster is by far the better keeper. We are too reliant on hba imo. All pardews interviews seem to revolve around how important he is. Talented, yes, but nowhere near proven in the epl.
@eastlandgeordie I’m not sure gosling is all that defensive. He is more box to box, think he would compliment tiote quite well, although not sure I’d sacrifice barton for him just yet.

    Heard this rumour last night:

Alan Pardew wants to approach Man City to see if he can land ex player Carlos Tevez on a season long loan to Newcastle, he feels the loan is a possibility because City do not want Tevez to go to their nearest rivals in the Premier League or Europe, and also it appears no team has yet been able to meet City’s asking price and terms of sale.

Pardew is hoping Argentine duo (Jonas) Gutierrez and new captain (Fabricio) Coloccini can help him to persuade their international team-mate to join them at St. James’ Park.

  • After what happened with Ferguson, I am fully Behind Krul being Number 1.

Dont wanna risk the giant hurting our back four again.

Richguy i heard that too, apparantly Pardew also approached Barcelona asking if its possible to get Dani Alves and/or affelay on a Season long loan with option to buy at 1/3rd of their original Value.

Gotta wonder why NUFC is so tight lipped over the HBA situation – an x-ray should indicate whether or not it’s serious.

But then again the lack of communication doesn’t surprise me. The rumors (the agent if we’re to believe the press) is that HBA is out 6-12 weeks.

If we’re to believe this rumor for a moment, then MA and AP has alot on their mind before the season starts.

Damn we’re short in options that are good enough to start for NUFC; loads of players, but short in quality. We cannot really rely on the youngsters can we?

tevez coming to Toon? it’s not even a rumour! too ridiculous for words; apart from the fact that he wants to go back to S. America not north east England!

Roll on the end of the transfer window and hope we have a couple more signings.

I’m getting restless with all the inactivity and poor communication from within the club; that’s the worst part, not knowing what their real intentions are although the signings so far have been good!

On the subject of the current owner though; anyone would think, with all the bad things written about MA that we had been blessed with saints as owners previously, rather than sheisters that bled the club dry and almost bancrupted us
    Howay the Lads!
