There’s news in the People on Sunday that Newcastle have agreed a £6.5M fee for Turkish striker Mevlut Erdinc with his club Paris St Germain.
Mevlut Erdinc – will this player arrive on Tyneside before September?
So we’re not quite sure if this is new news or not, because the news on July 13th was that Newcastle had agreed a deal with PSG, but there was a problem with Erdinc’s agent Pierre Frelot, who wanted a bonus for the transfer, and the deal did not go through.
However, only last week Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said there could be some movement for Newcastle in the transfer window in the first week of August, once they had returned form their current American tour.
Newcastle will play Orlando City at 7:30 pm eastern time on Saturday evening.
There were also whispers from inside the club that the Magpies were still confident they could get the 24 year old to Newcastle.
The People is reporting the ball is now in the court of the Turkish star, and that he will also need to lower his wage demands, which are said to be around £60K/week.
So we don’t seem to be too much further forward from this report from the People, as far as we can tell.
But the Express is reporting the same news and stating it is indeed progress that’s been made by the Newcastle club, and when told in Orlando about the agreement, manager Alan Pardew was said to be delighted .
Newcastle fans are waiting, even patiently, for another striker to be signed, and generally seem enthusiastic about the Turkish striker, who is a very skilfull player.
