Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique will not be long at the Newcastle club now, after he has slammed the Newcastle transfer policy, via his twiitter account tonight – and the news is being carried by the Daily Mirror.
Jose Enrique – criticizes transfer policy of Newcastle
Jose has been unsettled at Newcastle ever since that fateful day of January 31st, when Newcastle decided to sell arguably their best player in 22 year-old local lad Andy Carroll.
And then there was a fall-out of the Newcastle hierarchy with of all players, captain Kevin Nolan, and he elected to join second division club West Ham United last month, rather than see out the two years left on his contract
The third surprise was when Newcastle announced they had withdrawn their contract offer to another top player, Joey Barton, and he will now see the one year left on his five year deal at Newcastle, and leave next summer, or maybe even earlier if Newcastle can sell him.
Jose has accused the club of a lack of ambition, even though Alan Pardew has said the Tyneside club had made a fantastic contract offer to the 25 year-old Spaniard.
Jose Enrique sent this out on his twitter account while still in America, following Newcastle’s surprise 1-0 defeat last night against third tier American club Orlando City.
This is what Jose said, the first three paragraphs were initially in Spanish and have been translated here:
“The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan etc etc.
“This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy.”
“I think you fans are the best and you deserve the best, not what they are doing with the club. Thanks to everyone for supporting me.”
“The club give the money I have already. They lie all the time. But is no for money is because they don’t want spend in the club and bring quality players that’s why everybody go.”
Enrique joined Newcastle from Spanish club Villarreal in August, 2007, for around £6.3M, and after these words it’s hard to see that Jose will be at Newcastle for too much longer.
Pardew will need to keep the spirit of the Newcastle squad high, and anybody who is disenchanted with Newcastle, for whatever reason, is hardly good for the team spirit of the squad.

Comment #41He’s right unfortunately until we are rid of Ashley. Good luck to him, I wish he could have stayed.

Comment #42Hmmmm…. let me see, Jose. Kevin Nolan given five years at at West Ham on £50k a week… why didn’t we think of that? Too busy pushing him out the door, probably.
Andy Carroll wants the Toon to match whatever Liverpool were offering? Transfer request? Well, he’s only a small lad. They probably pushed him in the corner and bullied him. It’s not as if he had a five year contract he could have made the club honour.
I find it hard to believe that this actually came from Jose Enrique. What’s the source?
His silence on whether he stays or goes has been the third most annoying thing of the close season so far (behind Barton’s tw@ing and the constant screams of entitlement from the fans who seem to want us to spunk all of our money up on more Michael Owens), but I don’t believe for a second he’d be this unprofessional.
Sorry about the entitlement quip, but this sort of press is EXACTLY what has been stirring up malcontent in the faithful.

Comment #44Some people on here still can’t see the truth…even when it’s from the players mouth. Ashley muppets will ensure he stays at the club and continues to take your money and make empty promises. HE DOES NOT GIVE A **** ABOUT NUFC OR THE FANS.

Comment #45If this genuinely came from Enrique, personally, I’d be placing him in the reserves for the season. Call it “the truth” if you want; I call it a severe and sour lack of professionalism. Disputes between employer and employee should be dealt with at company level, not in the press or on Twitter.
Players should be banned from using it.

Comment #46No, ASTORIA; you’re absolutely right. Mike Ashley bought the club to make monkeys out of us all.
Controlling share of Newcastle United: £138m
Additional debts not taken into consideration at the time of purchase: £110
The look on those stupid Geordies’ faces when they realise I’m mugging them off: Priceless
Everytime he loses his own money on NUFC or something bad happens with his investment, he rubs his belly and gives himself a hearty laugh and a slap on the back because he pissed us all off so much by not giving Nolan 5 years at £50k.

Comment #49I can now Imagine that any remaining pocket’s of support for Ashley will diminish rapidly after Jose has exposed Pardew as a liar tonight.
Ashley will possibly sell Tiote to the highest bidder, Barton the same ..and of course Enrique..all going ..
Ashley Might then sell up. He might also Just…just keep the club ticking over in order to run it as a player’s market
for other club’s to shop at .
Perhaps that’s all it is now ?

Comment #50There are two things to take away from this:
1. Yes, this is bad for team morale; and it greatly increases the chances that Enrique will not be here much longer.
2. What Enrique said was 100% true. Sell quality players and you lose credibility. The truth hurts.
If we are going to be worth anything in the Premier League, we must make a play for Sturridge. He possesses undeniable quality and would send a message that we’re in this league to win it. Chelsea usually buys players from teams like ours. Let’s take out the wallet and buy young talent from THEM for a change. Enough is enough.

Comment #52If true I’m not impressed by Enrique. The club may well be liars and Ashley may well prefer 35 mil in a suitcase than Andy Carroll scoring goals for us, but the club’s transfer policy has nowt to do with Nolan leaving and if he had more ambition than he could fulfill here, he’d never have gone to WestHam.. Enrique should hand in a transfer request and forego his fat fee if he wants out. This is just about making himself unpopular in the boardroom so they’ll hurry up and sell him..
Jose is going to weaken morale and delay rebuilding witha new LB because he’s wanting to have his cake and eat it too. As for Wayne Routledge agreeing with him… what can I say? hardly one of our best players and if we got 2 million for him it would be good business.

Comment #54All credit to Enrique. At last someone speaks his TRUTH. it’s not about opinion or whether he’s right or wrong (I agree with him btw.). It’s about understanding how the players really feel about the leadership and management of the club.
The best players give their best. Why should they expect second best in return? No wonder they feel undervalued.

Comment #59Not convinced these are genuine quotes. Reckon the Spaniard has a lot more senase than to put this crap out on a social network site.
I might well be wrong but think it’s the work of someone who wants to stir the sh*t.
We all have our opinion of Ashley and AP but it’s quite unbelievable to think a “fantastic” offer didn’t include a wage hiike.
This makes no sense whatsoever. I’m waiting for a club statement denying it all.

Comment #60You don’t need to judge wether this is Enrique’s account or not all you had to do was read what Barton said a while ago.
I have not been offered a new contract they want younger, cheaper players in which indicated at the time they were moving on the older or high earners in the club.
This is just the tip of the iceberg-FC,JB could be gone anytime soon
JE,Tiote or anyone else worth money will be gone as soon as MA gets his price
MA doesn’t give a toss about NUFC get used to it.Also he will make a profit from every transfer window until he gets his money back.It is going to take at least another 3 years so things are going to get a lot worse. For those who actually think this man is doing the best for Newcastle wake up.

Comment #61ffs wake up guys , how many of you actually thought in your hearts he,d be playing for us this season coming ? i,d take the money and run if i was the club, he,s obviously unsettled and not happy at the club , do we need that round the club , no (probably a fake twitter account anyway) we can,t slag the transfer policy off just yet (i,m not saying its right) but i think we need to wait till the end of the season before we start putting it down, theres too many greedy players out there and agentss too , jesus give them a job humping blocks round a building site like a normal working man and they,d rip your hands off to be within that transfer policy

Comment #64And some of you on here are saying that some of us are pessimistic and OVERREACTING!!!!!
Now the players are saying it too.
It`s true MA is running the club well and we are in a good financial position but as said on here many times,we won`t get any better by selling our best players.
That some say Nolan`s legs were going n that crap,he was the main reason we did so well last year.
Ok he didn`t have the stamina of say Lampard but Scoring goals, defending, assists and downright guts on the field-you can`t buy that with 10 million pounds.
SICK OF THIS SH1T

Ok,no one expected him to be playing but why so???
He or none of the other best players want to when you see a good team gettin sold off.
They know they won`t be challenging for any trophies in the near future as the best players get sold off.
If you were a pro fotballer then you would also want to win or challenge for something in your career.
I get it,we all love the toon but when you as a player see this happening then it`s time to get out.
We have got in some players of quality but have they the heart when november and december comes with cold and rain and snow and small injuries etc.
Time will tell lads.
I reckon e could have been up there this season if we kept Nolan,Joey,Jose and bought N`zogbia and a quality striker.
That wasn`t gonna cost MA too much, this is the PL and paying maybe 20 million in transfers is small change for those that are challenging.
We are going to have to be happy with 10th place if we are lucky for 4 years or so.
On the other hand i am so happy that Fat Freddy aint here anymore.

Yesterday night I read on the official site that young left back Dummet was going to be flown in into the States. I was sure I had something to do with Enrique… et voilà!
I’m afraid this is the end of Enrique at the toon. But at least he leaves with a shout!

Comment #70If Enrique has said this, he can sod right off. He has fannied around all summer about this contract, just waiting for the big offer to come in , whilst all of us wondered what he was doing. He may be right about Ashleys lack of transfer investment, but we were right to sell Nolan, and 35 mill is hard to turn down. Its just a pity we dont spend more of it, instead of asking the manager to defend the appalling transfer policy. But Enrique, stop whinging, please.

Jose on Twitter – Some guy posts on Twitter claiming to be Jose, and people consider it factual information, despite people fluent in Spanish telling you that it is full of grammatical errors?
Sale of Nolan – 29 year old Nolan wants £50,000 a week with a five year contract, and will settle for nothing less. So much so that he is willing to drop a division in order to secure this contract. Sounds like there’s about as much commitment and ambition as there is pace left in his legs.
Sale of Carroll – £35m. That’s £35,000,000 for an unproven player who cost nothing and limits our style of play to crosses and long balls.
Ashley using the club for profit – After an initial £134m to buy the club, he then had to fork out another £110m just to keep the club afloat?! Followed by a further £20m investment when relegated. This isn’t a multi billionaire like Abramivich. In 2009 he had a reported fortune of £800m, of which he’s invested over a quarter of into Newcastle, interest free! The previous board ran the club at a loss year on year. All the Northern Rock money was paid upfront to fund the purchase of Owen. The stadium was mortgaged to provide further transfer funds. Whilst the board took £35m in dividend payments out of the club. Before relegation, our wage bill was 82.6% of turnover?! That equates to £2.1m per point in our relegation season. It was Freddy Shephard who got us relegated and were it not for Mike Ashley, we may not even have a club to discuss.

Comment #74Well said Supa, I agree completely; and I dont take kindly to players who we have made rich men in 4 years and given them a platform to the champs league, criticising the club.
As far as I’m concerned Jose has gone from hero to zero. If he had said he wanted to leave for personal reasons I would say good luck and thanks, but it seems he is bitter cos no one’s come in for him.
The only important thing is that we get a squad that will improve on last season and I’m happy, but if they let Barton go that will be a big big mistake!
