Newcastle Injuries Continue To Mount

Ryan Taylor is the latest player to suffer an injury  in pre-season, and that happened during the 1-0 defeat at Orlando City on Friday evening.

19 year-old Paul Dummet – joining the squad in Columbus

And Reserve team left-back Paul Dummett is already on his way to Columbus, to help shore up a squad that currently has only 17 fit players in it.

How many times next season will a similar situation arise, with the Newcastle squad being so paper thin?

It will be  a much tougher game tomorrow night against mid-table MLS side, the Columbus Crew, and Newcastle will field a fairly strong side, we would imagine.

On the positive side of things, Alan Pardew seems certain Joey Barton will see out his last year on Tyneside, after news yesterday that Manchester United may even be interested in him.

Pardew talked about Joey:

“I think Joey will be here. He has said all along that he wants to stay and I want him to stay, so there is no conflict there.”

One good question to ask about Newcastle is why are maybe our top four players of last season in Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique and maybe Joey Barton, left the club or are leaving the club?

But with Danny Guthrie, Shane Ferguson, Ben Arfa and Ryan Taylor all being injured in the first three games of pre-season, we simply think it proves two things.

One is that that the high rate of injuries that have been seen since Alan Pardew arrived in December will continue, and the second is that the squad is just not big enough for the Premier League, the hardest league in the world to compete in.

Both don’t auger well for next season, and we’d like to see the squad a lot bigger.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Wasn’t it confirmed last night that Jose never tweeted any of those messages? It was a hoax account. I thought that’s what I heard. I think even Danny Simpson said that wasn’t from his official tweet page.

On another note, I heard that HBA will be out for 6 weeks and that’s from L’equipe, Damn!!!!

Posted my last comment on the other thread, but Ed is just too quick at bringing these new threads. Sorry for re-posting, but I want to get some info about his account if anyone knows whether or not it was from his official account?

It’s a little odd that we flew over our Reserve LB Paul Dummet instead of Kadar. Why couldn’t we fly Cabaye over for the match against Columbus in that case? I mean, it makes sense that we would have him in for the first team instead of showcasing his talents for the reserves in Holland

If ashley is not going to spend now then what are the chances he is going to spend when Fair play rules come in.

We are not ANTS right preparing for Winters.

When I was getting tweets about the Orlando match and heard HBA had been stretchered off I’d have been happy with 6 weeks out at that time cos I thought it was going to be a break again. So, happy for him to just miss a game or two and we will beat SMBs without him, just put Shola on the team sheet and that’s a guaranteed goal right there and I’d put money on for Joey Barton to score aswell

    @gonz

Enrique opened his account about a month ago.

The British press are bad but not stupid enough to run a story with quotes from a fake Twitter account.

    Good luck to Dummit.
He looks like he’s going to be quality.

I think Ashley will spend. Erdinc will be the next through the door, hopefully N’Zogbia to follow and then a replacement for Enrique (if he goes) and in that case I hope it isn’t Naylor. We should get M’bengue

    Geoff77,
I thought I read last night that Enrique himself tweeted a comment saying that he didn’t write those tweets, it’s from a fake account and that D Simpson verified that it wasn’t his account. As regards to the press, all I have to say is NOTW!!!!

Anyone actually seen Dummet play? I haven’t at all so I don’t know what to think of him, but I’ve seen Kadar and he looks quality. Not only that he could cover for CB and Colo/Taylor haven’t had any cover in that position for the trip to the states.

Im confused by this whole transfer window.

    We dont need players.
    We do need players.
    Squads too big.
    Squads too small.
    Players are happy.
    Players arent happy.
    Club will spend……..
    ……..on wages and agent fees.

Get a grip man. Issue a club statement and show your intent. Im tuning out until September the 1st for transfers.

    We are not getting N’Zogbia.
Enrique wants Barca switch and I think they’ll come for him fits their mould.
Ashley will not spend anymore money at all as he is a genius money making business man. Run a football club financially yes, help the playing side never. He gambles but the ratio of his money ie a million is like us betting a tenner on horse.
The injuries are based on (other than impact injuries) the players professionalism. Messi never seems to get injured but gets fouled a lot. The top pros look after them selves at every level. Constant strains and pulls is down to the individuals error not training ground or pardew.
As for Ashley releasing a statement when does any owner do that? Abramovich doesn’t.
We have good coaches at the club so a cling to that, pardew was never going to be a choice but under Ashley it’s literally the top we were going to get.
I do in visage one more buy but can’t see it being erdic or N’Zogbia as neither want to really come here and that will be Ashleys get out of jail reason we didn’t spend “20 million”
    The end.

@geoff and other ashley out supporters

In response to your comment in last thread where you mentioned that i LOVE ashley and that i have no sense, firstly i have never said i like ashley, but i have not slagged off his methods or things which he is apparently trying to do. I dont like him but i love the club.

I would like all ashley out band to answer these.

    1. We do demonstrations, hold up cockney out banner and get him out..what happens next. What happens to the players, the manager, the club.

    2. Do you really think anyone sane enough would come and buy a club when we as fans have phony this kind of treatment to our last two owners. when we are always in the media for the wrong reasons. When the owner is always blamed and sworn at..remember, newcastle wont come cheap and anyone capable of buying newcastle will see the huge risks associated with the debt, its reputation to be in the media for the wrong reasons and even could potentially be harmful for the owners reputation.

    3. Even if we get a new buyer, he can be another ashley. There is not much money flying in the world now. And we have to start from scratch. Change setup again. The players might get disillusioned, new players wont join up due to our reputation.

We already tried to sell our club twice at lower money, nobody came in. Why? These are questions we need to ponder.

Its easy to say ashley out, but could we get something better. As much as i hate to say this, i am afraid ashley is the best we are going to get for the timebein. Our best hope is if the club shows profit in the next year or so, others might be interested and we could be rid of him. But if we are going for another uprising, we will be back to 2008. Just my thoughts and please dont think i,m am ashley lover. I just love this club.

I think your comments and viewpoints are brilliant, its nice to hear someone overseas in France speaking about HBA and his status.

    just one question.

Has the way we have acted in this Transfer window damaged our reputation in France?

No. Well, to be honnest, you don’t really got a reputation in France. Sorry to hurt your pride, but NUFC is mainly unoticed in France outside the core of specialist and fans.

The Pardew’s, interview about Paris was a bit harsh, but no consequences on the long term.
