Ben Arfa Damaged Ligaments – Misses First Two Games Of Season

Ben Arfa will miss at least the first two Premier League games of the season, against Arsenal at home on August 13th, and then local rivals Sunderland away on the following weekend.

Ben Arfa – relaxing in Kansas – before his ankle injury

The 24 year-old was stretched off last week in the pre-season game at Kansas City, and he will now be out another four weeks, before he can finally return to training

The official prognosis on the French International is that he could be back for the home game against Fulham on 27th August, and it appeared Ben Arfa has damaged the  ligaments in his left ankle.

But Newcastle officials are relieved, if  anything, because when the injury first happened, after just 30 minutes of the Sporting Kansas City game,  it looked like he could be out for months rather than just weeks, so this in a way is good news for the club.

And it must be really frustrating for young Ben Arfa, who is so keen to show the local Newcastle fans just what he can do for the Magpies.

We’ll just have to be patient and hope Ben Arfa will return to the great form he showed us all last season, in the brief four appearances he made before he had that terrible double fracture of his left leg,  at Manchester City.

Comments welcome.

gutted he wont play against the mackems, however, lee cattermole probably would have targeted him anyways and made him worse

Atleast it was not any damage to the fractures.

Ligaments can be far more painful than a break like.

    Get well soon HBA!

Probably give him a bit of confidence knowing he’s been clattered and his initial injury held up? Was a pretty late challenge that caught him in a bad place. Hopefully back for QPR game if not is it Fulham at home after that? Still have confidence in our team without him. Barton cabaye tiote in cm? Jonas marveaux wings with ba up top still looks decent

At least the first 2 matches, probably more like 4 or 5. Don’t worry though we can use Shola as our playmaker now…

Done my ankle ligaments not long ago. Was out for 3 and a half months. Shows how much quicker the healing process is with professionals sorting you out!

That is true but usually those set backs occur in training and are usually a muscle pull/tear. Ben Arfa’s happened due to another terrible tackle and prior to that had no set backs in training and in the previous match against Darlington, lasting 70 odd minutes.

Was thinking it was his ligaments and that he would be out for about 6weeks as I had the same injury myself, hurts like big time.
Get him back in good shape and see what he can bring to the team.
AP has a job to do now to set the team up differently seeing we sold our Nobby and Benny is on the sick.
    MA are you watching ?
