We paid tribute yesterday to Tore Eikeland, the 21 year-old Newcastle fan, who was gunned down in the terrible disaster that took place in Norway last Friday afternoon.
Torre Eikeland – gunned down on Friday afternoon
And it was great to see that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has heard all about the tragedy and paid tribute himself to Torre, on behalf of the Newcastle United club.
This is what the Newcastle manager said today:
“On behalf of everyone at Newcastle United, we were horrified to hear of the tragedy in Norway and the senseless loss of innocent life.”
“Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of all the victims, especially to those of Tore Eikeland who we know was a huge supporter of Newcastle United and a keen contributor to a Norwegian NUFC fans website.”
“The players, coaching staff and everyone associated with the club send our heartfelt condolences to the Eikeland family and all those who lost a loved one that day.”
It’s excellent that Alan has come out with that tribute, to a young man who had a wonderful future and political career in front of him, before he was so mercilessly gunned down.
RIP.

Comment #9Makes you wonder how a singer who didn’t contribute a lot to society other than a few songs and reportedly killed herself from a drugs overdose can receive so many tributes and as much publicity as those mentioned above. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone but I don’t have much sympathy for those who are unwilling to help themselves and aren’t exactly role models.
RIP

Comment #19I would like to see the Norwegian flag fly at SJP when we play Arsenal. The city has strong links with Norway – I believe the King is a Freeman of the city and they send the Xmas Tree which stands outside the Civic Centre each year.

Nick and Ochytoon – Alcoholism and drug addiction are horrible diseases that render people very much unable to help themselves. Regardless of the publicity she received and the money she made, Amy Winehouse’s death at the young age of 27 is no less tragic than any of those spoken about above. Rest now, you unfortunate young souls. The hard part is done.

Comment #39Kris, From what I understand Norway have a rolling life sentence. Breivik, gets 24 years maximal but after 24 years he can get 24 again and again and again. Prison is probably the safest place for him.

Comment #40they should stick him in solitary confinement for the rest of his life…just give him 4 walls to stare at, nothing else. that’d be torture.
