Pardew praised the performance of Demba Ba against the Columbus Crew, and was pleased the way the lads came back after a poor performance in Orlando on Saturday night.
>Demba Ba – played well on Tuesday night
In fact both Shola Ameobi and Demba Ba looked powerful players for Newcastle on Tuesday, and they were a more than a handful for the Crew.
Pardew was really pleased with the excellent performance put in by the lads in Columbus, and he had this to say today:
“The performance against Columbus was there for all to see – Demba Ba did well.” “If we get a couple of new players this team won’t be far away.”
“As I have explained it will take time.” “But in August things will start coming thick and fast, everybody has been away on tour.”
“I think we could have something resolved in time for the Arsenal game. I hope we will.” “I certainly feel that the motivation from Mike Ashley, Derek and myself is to get the deal done before that game.”
“You can never say never with transfers.” “I think this has been a great period for me.” “When you have a tour like we have had, which gained good, bad and ugly, the character of the group shines through.”
“We were under pressure at times, especially after losing to Orlando.”
Hopefully things will now move to the transfer market and Newcastle can bring in a striker and then a left back to replace Jose Enrique.
It turns out that Pardew has been in regular communication with both owner Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias while he has been stateside, and Lee Charnley, the Newcastle Secretary, has also been in close communication with Alan over the last 10 days or so.
We are hoping Newcastle can get Mevlut Erdinc in within the next few days, but if that doesn’t happen then Newcastle will have to turn to some other strikers, but who they may be we have absolutely no idea.
