Mevlut Erdinc – Is He Coming Or Not?

Newcastle got off to a great start to the transfer season when they got four new players in by June 18th.

Mevlut Erdinc – is he coming or not?

The Magpies were quick off the mark this summer with Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Mehdi Abeid and Sylvain Marveaux all being signed up.

But since then nothing, and Newcastle have failed to bring Kevin Gameiro in, and we’ll know within the next couple of days whether new striker target Mevlut Erdinc will be coming to Tyneside or not.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlüt Erdinç has been the top striker target for around five weeks now, and it seems that Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge is the top target at left back to replace Jose Enrique.

Newcastle have 33 days left (approximately) to bring players in this summer, and presumably to unload players like Jose Enrique, Wayne Routledge and Nile Ranger.

This is what the Newcastle manager said today about the upcoming transfer activity:

“The merry go-round will then start thick and fast.”  “I hope to have them in place in time for Arsenal.”

“That’s the motivation of Mike Ashley, Derek Llambias and myself, to get them in before Arsenal. But you can never say for definite.”

We’ll know within the next couple of days wether Erdinc is coming, but if he doesn’t arrive by say Sunday, shouldn’t Newcastle take the hint – and admit the player just doesn’t want to come?

Comments welcome.

Movement may happen after he gets his loyalty bonus fom PSG.

Hold ups are all down to yet another greedy agent.

I see what you mean about being greedy but i think it’s pretty hard for the agent to turn his nose up at a bonus that they were at most a few weeks away from…

We could possibly be going up against a Arsenal team with Mata and Gervinho in the first 11 along with Nasri etc.

Not looking forward to that game at all.

Mata is better than Silva in my opinion, a good few years younger too.

If he does come, it would appear it is because he has no other option. If he wanted a move, he would have been here weeks ago. If and when he does arrive, he will have a lot to prove IMO to show the fans/club that he was worth the wait.

Yo yo … must look forward to those type of games, its what football and improvement in NUFC needs. Our results against top sides last season were promising on the whole. I can’t wait to be there for that game. Be a fantastic atmosphere after the last game.

I’d rather think it’s the press that needs to be taking the hint than Newcastle tbh.
They say they have a couple of players in the work now, we think the first one is Erdinc, have no clue about the second…

My fear is that there is no plan B. and of course even if he does come – will he be the player that we think he is? Dont see a line of top Euro clubs after him ….

I have no doubt he is coming, after august 1st when he gets his loyalty payment, we have agreed fee and terms with player (apparently) so definitely can see this happening, especially after PSG signed Pastore, which I still cant believe

yes just like Owen had something to prove, proved he was good at collecting his money, good at being fit for his country, but couldn’t give a hairy dogs bollocks about Newcastle football club or the fans. is it wise to take a player that will only come if no one else wants him.

@17 – they are spending silly amounts and have the financial backing but they still play in the french league, no disrespect intended to the french league but the teams in it arent the best and they never get too far in the champions league… it may well be a good league to watch but for a truely ambitious player who wants to test themselves against the best and doesnt just want the money, its not premiership, la liga or serie A

17- would you class the likes of malaga as elites then? Big takeover, lots of money. And quite simple what a forward line that is; makes me laugh when I’m buzzing over a ba and erdinic combo!

Edd Case (8) – strangely addictive and therapeutic. I expect Felipe, Bills-son and the fat black bouncer to pop up at any moment to defend him, but a barrage of 2m punches is too much for them to handle.

Why these recent links with crap LB’s?

Bridge is nowhere near good enough these days to replace Enrique.

Whatever happened to our reported interest in M’Bengue anyway?

Dump this Erdinc. He does not want to come and play for us at NUFC. Bridge is one too far. Storey is not worth the ink on a contract. We have a promising squad and Pardonme has done his best within the fat man’s contraints but we are still not big enough in quality and numbers to mount a serious challenge in the Premiership.
I think we will see some entertaining soccer from the present squad though. We must get behind the lads at
every game cos playing for the Geordie Nation is the best cap going!!!

Have to say, from my Dennis Wise analysis of Erdinc on the web, I wont be killing myself if he doesnt come here. He’s ok, thats all, from what i can see anyway, in a very average league. And please MA, spend some money will you ? If we lose Enrique, it is a MASSIVE dent to our team, and we need a PROPER replacement, not just some bloke on loan because it stops you spending money ….
