Surprising news today that Cheick Tiote is the latest Newcastle United player to have a visa problem this summer.
Cheick Tiote – after scoring his only goal for Newcastle – so far
Cheick Tiote will not now be available for the friendly game at Leeds United on Sunday.
There is now real news on what the problem is although the Evening Chronicle is reporting it is red-tape problem about his visa, but that hardly tells us too much.
Tiote did not travel back to London with the rest of the squad but instead was on a plane to Accra in Ghana, where apparently the Ivory Coast Embassy is currently based.
Cheick’s job is to resolve whatever the problem is with his via, so again this seems just a little mystifying to us.
Tiote will be training while he is in Accra, until the problem with his visa is sorted out, so at least Tiote will keep himself at his current fitness level, and we’re not even sure if anybody from the club has accompanied him to Ghana, but we would think so.
Newcastle expect that Tiote will have everything sorted out by next weekend, and he will likely start the plum game against Italian club Fiorentina a week tomorrow.
That’s Newcastle’s final warm-up fame before meeting Arsenal at St. James’ Park on Saturday, 13th August, and we have to hope we’ll not be four goals down after 26 minutes in that game.
Comments welcome.

Comment #81Whats this arsenal blueprint crap, were just part of the fat southern turds blueprint.
Ashleys sports direct make200 million profit and he aint got the sense to properly invest in the club.
Even after all the crap weve put up with from the rotund treble chinned cockney and his sidekick the tawny owl,if he really put his hand in his pocket, then it would go a long way to appease the fans.
Alas its gone much to far for that, and until he leaves we are stuck with cheap signings some of which are good mind you,and a second rate manager with a face full of jellied eels.

The profit of Sports Direct has nothing to do with Newcastle United, they are two seperate companies.

Comment #87Get you heads out of imaginary league table finishes and Ashley’s whinnying about the funking arsenal model for a second…
you are failing to recognise the psychological impact of zero-net-spend
when we went down it was an unbelievable reflection of the squad – owen, viduka, martins, s taylor, barton, duff, coloccini, gutierrez… for shilting sake that’s a side pushing for europe in any sane world..
it was the fans and players who had lost their belief… animosity built upon around the owner..
A funking CHORUS of players and ex-players, managers, key personnel have referred to serious unease amongst the players… the fans are questioning what’s happened to the money brought in… and that is exactly setting up a climate for a repeat of 3 seasons ago I worry…
if we get off to a ropey start, players heads go down will you still be talking about reaching financial sound footing? or longterm plans… nope you will be cacking your britches like me wondering why we failed to spend when we had the chance…

Comment #100get in dann, replace enrique and a worthy striker, plus a couple of carr’s jewels and we’ll be set.
your right, midfield is sound, defence just need CB cover i reckon (dann) and a decent replacement for enrique, then focus on the bloody striker.
i think all this arsenal blueprint melarky by the way is true, and we are going about it the right way… for the past few seasons angry man, your stats showed that arsenal didnt spend more than 15million… we’ll spend about the same this season i imagine. and yeah, we’re not getting the same quality and we want to see the club to spend big to show ambition etc but let have these discussions come sept 1st huh? for weeks now we’ve had the “pessimists v the optimists” and its getting as bad as the whole gervinho saga! sick of hearing it like!

Well if they’re have time to buy they’l spend atleast half of that amount and spend again when the window opens in january.
how much of the 35mil has been spent from the Carroll sale? Yes we still have a few weeks left in the window, but how much will be put back in the club? The same goes when Enrique is sold and players such as Tiote.

I dont know, everyone is fascinated with it this year, all because we sold 1 player for an extortionate fee and they think the money is burning a hole in our pocket.
My interest is players in the squad and on the pitch, money does not come into it.
Notice, on my list of transfers, I did not include fees, coz they are irrellivant really.

Yes I know you can do that.
A portion of the profit was distributed to staff in the form of bonuses, he has since purchased other companies with the money.
If Venky’s make a profit next year do you think they will automatically pass it on to Blackburn? NO.

So basically, what you are saying is, your not content on panicing about how the Andy Carroll money is spent, but you now also want to cry yourself to sleep thinking where the entire £235m has gone to!?
Why so money orientated?

From the US tour, who are the players we have talked about most for having good performances?
Gosling – Transfer Fee £0
Marveux – Transfer Fee £0
Ba – Transfer Fee £0
Does the price tag make a better player – No!

Comment #116Woodsee, I don’t get your argument. We will be stuck with a bunch of cheap signings, oh yea and some of them are good!
Err, that is a bad thing?!
Angryman I can certainly understand why you would think that that is the case. But most businesses are run on a buy something and turn it into something that is worth more.
I do not get the problem with that. We as fans get to see the players perform for our team. I think only if stupid money comes in or a player wants to leave will the board sell.
Ok, lets say a club offered 8m for Steven Taylor. If they sold him, I would be very annoyed. This would be because 1 he does not want to leave! 2 he has a contract 3 8m is probably what he is worth (he is also English remember it adds a mil or two).
The sale of Carrol was perfectly justifiable. Purely because of the money involved.
Nolan too, it is not worth the money the contract he was asking for (if rumors are to be believed).
Why would the board want the team to do crap and lose money by paying players well over the odds.
I have to say I am extremely happy as a Newcastle fan at the moment. I think we are ahead of the times to be honest. Clubs without billionaire’s, Arsenal and Man U will be truly struggling in the not too distant future.
We will be doing OK the next couple of years and very good following that.
You will see 🙂

Comment #119@106 if its his money in his personal bank account yes, if the money is held within the companies bank account or tied up in assets you can just transfer it over to another company whether it be in your name or otherwise… you’ll have some rather angry accounts after you is you try and pull that one
I have a feeling ashleys personal account wont hold massive amounts of cash, a lot will be assets. If he sold sports direct he could pump massive amounts into the club if he so wanted but he cant just transfer funds over to Newcastle without paying justified sums to himself first
