Wayne Routledge To Sign For Swansea Tuesday For £2M

You can never be completely sure until it happens, but it seems that Wayne Routledge has indeed now agreed personal terms with Swnasea City, and is expected to complete the move early next week.

Wayne Routledge – medical on Tuesday at Swansea

The fee is said to be around £2M, and while the news a week ago was that the deal had fallen through because of not being able to agree personal terms,  it seems that is not now a problem.

So Wayne Routledge will be leaving Newcastle and it seems that this is another good chance for Routledge to show what he can do in the Premier League.

Sky Sports News is reporting that Routledge will be arriving at the club on Tuesday, to undergo his medical, and he will then sign on for the newly promoted Premier League club.

A number of Championship clubs such as Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and even Cardiff City were interested in the player, and if this deal goes ahead, Wayne will be the fourth senior player to leave Newcastle this summer.

The other three were:

Sol Campbell – released
Shefki Kuqi – released
Kevin Nolan – £4.5M – West Ham

Those coming in with their approximate transfer fees, so far have been:

Yohan Cabaye – £4.5M – Lille
Demba Ba – free agent – West Ham
Sylvain Marveaux – free agent – Rennes
Mehdi Abeid – free agent – Lens

So it seems that if Wayne is sold for £2M, then Newcastle have a surplus of £2M, at least in terms of  transfer fees so far this summer.

Don’t think Routledge was ever going to be a world beater for us, but a more than able squad member – yee knaa with us not having a recognised right winger in the entire first team and all that..

i honestly think a team of:
    krul
    simpson, taylor, colo, enrique
    cabaye, tiote
    jonas, ben arfa, marveaux
    ba

can do us better than the 12th finish last season

  • Met Routledge last time I was home. Seems a totally decent bloke. So wish him all the best.

Plenty of potential but there’s no fight in that team apart from S.Taylor, this is because we have sold Nolan and Carroll, and its starting to look like the last fighter in the team is unhappy – Barton.

Yes, Tiote is physical, but he does not have the same spirit or impact on the team, which Barton, Nolan or Carroll have/had.

Soory, i disagree (guess of who i will speak again…) but Ben arfa is a natural born competitor. Anyway, he don’t like to loose.

i think ba’s a fighter as well from all accounts. i know lots of west ham fans have told me this so i trust what they say.

i can’t help but think if we bring in a striker+ left back a lot of negativity will disappear.

if we win our first 2 games a lot of keyboard warriors will probably turn and start spouting how we’ll get into europe

    One more? One more?

What happened to the 4 or 5. What happened to the at least two?

Has Pardieu’s expectations been managed in the same way as ours?

Chances are Routledge will be gone. Chances are Jose will be gone. Chances are Joey will be gone.

They’ve had all that money in Ashley’s wallet since January and now we might get one more in.

And he’ll probably be a knackered freebie too

FF – inept and a coward. Clearly scared of getting clattered into. What is he, 6’7″? It’s a ball, not a bomb!

Should try using him as a makeweight, as part of a deal for Izagguire.

It amuses me that if we hadn’t lost Nolan, I’d probably be looking at this transfer window in a completely different light.

But as usual, the good is accompanied by the terribly here at Newcastle.

just got back from leeds game… Forster was shocking as he was in america hes awful at crosses.. Krul is by far the better keeper.. forster is a great shot stopper but crap in the air and hes very very quiet..! Taylor was very shakey today couldnt deal with the closing down, Bartons passing was terrible cought in possestion far too much.. Cabaye was brilliant referee was terrible.. but to me it looks like Cabaye is a natural replacement for Tiote just hope its for when hes away in african cup and not forever.. Ba wasnt very good today but hes still working on his fitness showed some neat touches.. Vuckic played well when he came on.. Dummett was like Simo doesnt close his man down and just backs off but hes only young he’l learn.. Shola well CAPTAIN? says it all.!
Btw – Max Gradel was class tortured our backling every time and is extremely quick would be a class signing..

Paves the way for Vuckic to get some playing time. Eventually would be good to see him playing behind the striker with his finishing ability.

One more? He’s having a forking laugh the under the thumb little pr1CK. No forking backbone whatsoever. So much for knocking on ashleys door asking for funds, more like going along with the flow you pr1ck. I thought with Pards being ashleys friends he would be able to encourage him to strengthen the squad more, doesn’t seem to be the case.

Looking at our squad from last season we have lost Nolan, Routledge, Carroll, Ireland, Campbell, Kuqi

And we have gained Xisco, Forster, Ba, cabaye, marveaux and Albeid.

Surely our wage bill isn’t much bigger? Our squad certainly isn’t bigger, we may have gained a few quality players but we lost a few as well. One more isn’t enough in my opinion.

    @spike

At the time, the loss of players was supposed to be huge. remember the rumours about Jonas and Colo.

Furthermore, some young players have claimed a place in the squad for the season, like Vukic and Abeid.

So, the need of players is not so important than he was.

I’m most dispointed about the fact the club didn’t want to make a massive offer for a good striker. Which was also a promise of Pardew…

I think we are well off in Midfield but like i have said on many occasions on here we need another CB as well as a full back depending on Enrique. We really need a striker or two. EVERY man and his dog can see we are still short in defence and short on quality up front. All can see this but Ashley and his side kicks can not. Good on Barton for venting his frustrations, the man wants to see the club succeed and that is not going to happen unless Ashley puts his hand in his pocket and brings in a CB,FB and a striker. No ifs or buts about it. Ash can not have it all ways. He wants to spend very little but stop in the EPL. It works to an extent if your club is situated in the capital, Arsenal spend very little BUT they are playing CL Football and are situated in a place where Footballers want to be. We can not do that up here. We need money spent, the fans can see it, the players can see it and the blind man down the street can sense it lol.

The one thing that gives me a better hope than last year is the fact that this season we actually have people on the bench that can do the biz when we need them where as the last few seasons when we needed a change in play, bit of attack etc we had nowt. You might have Barton, gosling, Vukic, ferguson maybe gutierrez even and the game can change for us. There will be a belief we can make a change and turn a result or even hold on for one. That’s worth a few points in a season.

is no one getting a bit concerned over Tiote absence as when he signed he will have had a visa & work permit for the length of his contract and as he was a 1st team regular he would have met the terms of his work permit, he could have had problems with the length of the remaining time on his passport but that would have had a bigger impact in the us, I am starting to wonder if Tiote is also a dun deal. lets face it how often is anyone refused entry to this country, we have about 3million illegal immigrants.

Well done Joey Barton for speaking the truth again. We are in big trouble this season, the proper fans know it and the players know it.

The idiots that are backing Ashley, and yes they are idiots, defy belief. Fucking wake up and see what is happening to our club. The fans are being taken for mugs again and some of you are happy with that; its embarrasing to be reading what some of you ‘fans’ have to say. ASHLEY OUT

toon1978 – Ashley sees it too mate, he just isn’t willing to spend the money to fix the problem.

Pardew’s “knocking Ashley’s door” comments were before the january window – a lot of good that did…

I think we are marginally better off squad wise, but we were on our knees between feb and may as was reflected in the results… pretty much relegation form to be completely honest.. so a few tweaks here and there, plus players comments hinting at widespread squad unrest and it’s hardly the rosy picture some are painting on here..
