You can never be completely sure until it happens, but it seems that Wayne Routledge has indeed now agreed personal terms with Swnasea City, and is expected to complete the move early next week.
Wayne Routledge – medical on Tuesday at Swansea
The fee is said to be around £2M, and while the news a week ago was that the deal had fallen through because of not being able to agree personal terms, it seems that is not now a problem.
So Wayne Routledge will be leaving Newcastle and it seems that this is another good chance for Routledge to show what he can do in the Premier League.
Sky Sports News is reporting that Routledge will be arriving at the club on Tuesday, to undergo his medical, and he will then sign on for the newly promoted Premier League club.
A number of Championship clubs such as Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and even Cardiff City were interested in the player, and if this deal goes ahead, Wayne will be the fourth senior player to leave Newcastle this summer.
The other three were:
Sol Campbell – released
Shefki Kuqi – released
Kevin Nolan – £4.5M – West Ham
Those coming in with their approximate transfer fees, so far have been:
Yohan Cabaye – £4.5M – Lille
Demba Ba – free agent – West Ham
Sylvain Marveaux – free agent – Rennes
Mehdi Abeid – free agent – Lens
So it seems that if Wayne is sold for £2M, then Newcastle have a surplus of £2M, at least in terms of transfer fees so far this summer.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41well simo was cought out by Gradels pace and skill, he was jumpin into tackles around half way line and couldnt get back to stop a cross which meant a CB had to cover which left space in the box for they strikers to exploit.. they was times wher gradel was running at simo and he was jus doin his usual and backing off.. Tavernier was quite shakey aswel but to be fair to him hes not a left back and looked very uncomfortable kept trying to turn onto his right and was getting tackled all time.. Jonas was crap aswel

Well done Joey Barton for speaking the truth again. We are in big big trouble this season, the players know it and so do the proper fans.
Idiots, yes idiots, who back Ashley are an embarrasment. Look at what is happening to the club!
We have lost our best player, our top scorer, our leader, our team spirit, where has the money gone!???? We are constantly being lied to.
Jose and Joey gone next. No squad depth, lack of quality, lack of spirit, all leads to relegation.

Comment #43Dave 1961 – ive said that today.. Tiote signed a new contract a few month ago which his Visa would have been renewed then for a new length the only way he would need a new Visa is if hes changing details on it like club or times.. av been saying today Cabaye is Tiotes natural replacement and Tiote is going.. av got a feeling he’s going to Man Utd or Chelsea

Comment #44dave 1961 – sounds like you’ve been reading too much Daily mail based on your comments. Immigration has been tightened no end under the loony coalition.. non-eu on working visas, etc. under 50k have been expelled, and entry even for asylum seekers has been rigorously capped. Anyway if tiote was off somewhere I doubt he’d be negotiating a deal to a european club from Africa – then again it’s Ashley and as I’m writing this I am starting to think you may be right…

HOPES to sign one lol, few weeks back it was “A Few” than was “2 maybe more” then “2 but atleast 1” now “Maybe 1”
What a joke!
Whats everyones view on how many we need, considering out whole bench is full of players with less than a hand’s full of apps in EPL.
I was thinking after Merv/Ba signings we would sign a LB/Winger/ST than maybe a CB.
But seems we may be getting 3 Free Agents (1 Youth) and Cabaye 4.5M
if Routledge goes out we have made over 6M again spending less than we sell.

Comment #47Think back to last season up until xmas, sitting nicely around 10th, great spirit and togetherness and things looking positive. Then Ashley decides to sack his very very loyal manager, sell our best player, spend nothing and see out the season hoping 30 points in January would be enough.
WHEN all he needed to do was back Hughton with money for a new right back, cover at left back and a forward to play alongside Carroll. Difficult?? If that had happened we would have finished top 8 and be looking to push on again next year. Instead we will be fighting relegation having lost Carroll, Nolan, Jose, Barton and poss Tiote.
Joke.

Comment #50There’s always something to dash your forking optimism. I thought we was going places under a manager we liked (hughton) then things changed. We then sell Carroll and you think well we can’t really grumble at 35 million being reinvested with graham carr as chief scout or whatever he is. Now we have no transparency over transfers and in all honesty haven’t actually improved as much as I’d hoped. Is Pardew hoping the midfield will do all the scoring as well as the defending or are we going to just player all our midfielders together out of position like raylor.

kingkev9 // Jul 31, 2011 at 1:33 AM
Wait and see attitude? I’ve been waiting 4 years and it doesn’t improve. If you think nolans game was based on carrolls knock downs then your sadly mistaken. But I take it you know better than Jose and Barton too who have both expressed their disappointment at nolans sale.
So your waiting….for what? Joe kinnear? Relegation? Changing the stadiums name? More lies? Selling more players?
Andy // Jul 31, 2011 at 1:36 AM
Joe Kinnear if his ticker hadn’t forced him to leave we’d have stayed up. Statistically he was not a bad manager for us and he’d have done a lot better than Shearer and Hughton did in those last games! Still don’t get how he got the job though. Same way del boy and wise probably
kingkev9 // Jul 31, 2011 at 1:41 AM
Get back jkf then!? He made us a laughing stock and the club became a joke, that’s how we went down

Comment #65I said on the previous article that if we can put out our best team we won’t have any worries about relegation, and I think a mid table finish is on the cards. But how many times will we put out our best team? Injuries are already mounting up and there is no real cover.
But, we had a windfall of £35m. I’m not stupid enough to say spend it all. Even half of it would be good.
Cabaye cost £4.5m. With £17m you could get 3 more Cabeyes and still have enough change to drill a bloody bore hole.
I wouldn’t even mind so much if they came out and said that Ashley has put in a load of money to keep the club afloat in the last couple of years, so he’s having the £35m and taking it off the debt to him.
At least we would know where we stand.
But all this “every penny is staying in the club” rubbish. They just didn’t finish the sentance off. “Every penny is staying in the club, but that means we are taking the sky money, sponsorship money, prize money etc etc, and so the £35m will be used for operating the club this season”.
At least be honest with us. Free’s are really expensive, boreholes cost millions, yeah we’ve put some pipes in and got done on the price so all of the money has gone.
Absolute rubbish.
BE HONEST YOU THEIVING SODS
You’ve had the money and there is nothing left but losing betting slips, some pasty crumbs and a load of used up Greggs bags

Comment #71Geordie German, my name is Kev you smug fool and 9 is for Shearer, also my lucky number.
When we got relegated (did you go to the games?) our spirit had gone, the club had become a joke, we were contiually beaten by average teams. No spirit in any team leads to big trouble.
When we were relegated i feared the worst but hughton did a fantastic job and gave new life into the team, creating a fantastic team spirit. Since being promoted instead of building on this spirit it has been ripped apart.
Any more questions?
SMOOTH SHOLA – please tell me what i posted that was wrong? Or are you unable to put together a decent arguement?
