Newcastle Identify Joey Barton Replacement

It’s hardly a surpise that Newcastle will now move quickly now for Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta to replace Joey Barton.

Tranquillo Barnetta – Swiss International midfielder

My son Neil called last night and we talked about the Newcastle mess, and we both agreed that this player would be great at Newcastle, and a good replacement for Barton.

Newcastle have been following the Beyer Leverkusen player for about a year now, and he was the one who scored those two good first half goals for Switzerland against England a few months back, in the Euro 2012 qualifier, and he looked a very good player in that game.

Newcastle could have moved for Tranquillo in January, but he picked up a serious injury at that time, and that stopped any move from Newcastle.

And even before the Joey Barton affair blew up yesterday, there was news percolating through that Newcastle may go after this midfielder.

We think he would be a good buy for Newcastle, and hopefully he can be brought to Tyneside quickly.

The 26 year-old has played 59 times for Switzerland with 8 goals, and has been at Beyer Leverkusen since 2004 and ha splayed over 200 times for the german club.

Take him and then let Barton go to Stoke or West Ham.

Is it pick a player at random day? because you and your son chat about a player doesnt mean newcastle are interested in him. for one he costs money, two why would he want to signed for an arsehole like ashley?

All speculation, don’t hold you breath…

All the same, we could do with a right sided player.

Thats is still a good team. Yes we need another wide player and another striker but how do people know we wont sign anyone else.

Sturridge and Cleverly on loan anyone?

Brilliant and talented player, a proper right winger, just what we need.

Our midfield strength still shines through, even without Joey, who, lets face it, could only have played out of position on the right anyway!

a right winger! a proper replacement for joey barton, whether you agree with the joey situation and whether he should have been released or not, IF we get this lad in in his place you cant really complain!

If ashley puts his hand in his pocket to fund his vendetta against barton then fair enough as barnetta is a class act (and means we will have a right winger right wing.) This is on top of a striker coming in obviously.
    Just cant see it happening.

Exactly, Barton leaving changes nothing really!

We always did need another RW and ST, also a LB as replacement for Jose.

Joey changes nothing, I couldn’t really see him featuring next season anyway

@ED – few things you seem to have missed

Joey is still at the club until someone is prepared to take him off the wage bill.
Ashley won’t pay another wage in addition to Joeys
Barnetta has already said he’s not interested and who can blame him

Barton leaving changes a lot. We won’t have his poisonous self serving attitude poisoning all things NUFC.

Barnetta’s a decent player and, hopefully, he’ll adapt well to the English game. Didn’t seem to struggle too much against the national team a little while back.

I think ashley may be forced to put his hand in his pocket now and buy a couple of decent players to quell the unrest this will cause, hoping so anyway
