Newcastle fans are worried by at least couple of things at the moment.
John Carver – team spirit is good – honest!
One is that Newcastle’s famous team spirit of the last couple of seasons may be taking a little bit of a hammering, because of the events of the last few days, and another is what the new lads at the club must be thinking after all the turmoil with Joey Barton.
But John Carver has come out today and said the spirit in the squad is still high, buy there again he’s been made responsible by Alan Pardew to ensure the team spirit at the club is good, and John’s not daft enough to come out and say it’s not good.
This is what John told the local Newcastle press today:
“Feelings are good. We had a really good day on the training ground.” “Spirits are good. Today we will have a golf competition and it will be staff v the players.”
“There is nothing wrong with the spirits of the lads and we’re all just looking forward to Fiorentina and the opener against Arsenal.”
As we reported last night Sammy Ameobi had an excellent game in the 3-1 win at Gateshead, and Haris Vuckic was again impressive.
Sammy scored two goals and he seems to always impress when he’s in the Newcastle first team, and Alan Pardew will have to decide soon, whether to send Sammy out on loan to another club, or whether he can use him next season to bolster the thin Newcastle squad and use the lad as an impact substitute.
And John Carver still feels that a couple of new players will come in fairly soon, (we need them quickly!), and of course if Joey Barton and Jose Enrique leave, they will have to be replaced too.
John continued:
“There are still places up for grabs. It is all about competition and we all know that.” “We know that we need to bring in one or two players and I’m sure it will happen.”
“But there are one or two kids here who are waiting in the wings. Sometimes that happens and somebody comes in and takes an opportunity. Who knows?”
“We are bringing young players through, we want them to do well and the fans want them to do well. They want to see local lads in the side and it would be nice to push somebody through.”
The Newcastle youngsters could well be the saving grace for Newcastle next season, and if we can see players like Haris Vuckic, Shane Ferguson, Sammy Ameobi, Tamas Kadar, James Tavernier and others challenge for a first team place next season, we’ll be in decent shape.
And of course the youngsters will only improve in the seasons ahead.
Comments welcome.

I would love nothing more than to see Mike Ashley sell up and f**k off back to London, the only thing that would want me see Joey leave if he did act that way at the Leeds game

Can you see Ashley, a money man through and through, allowing Barton to leave for nothing just for what he has said on Twitter?
Doesn’t seem right to me

This all comes back to my point: If the club had a decent reason for their actions, why have they not released a single statement about it?
If Barton ranted at Pardew & other players, then he should be gone. But why have the club not said anything?
If it is true that the club leak information through the local papers, then that’s ridiculously bad judgement, as it just provokes more mistrust. No one believes the press anymore, so that’s a poor way to get information out.

After the negative publicity he has been putting out into the world and the fact no one has come in with a bid for him coupled with the fact Barton has said he isnt going anywhere which puts off clubs to begin with
Yeah I can because it is his only choice of getting rid of a man who would spent the next year exposing what is going on behind the scenes

Exageration is a poor way to argue. Find one quote from the last four years off this blog, that says the club is being run perfectly?

WHY do our top players want to leave the toon ? – believe me i reckon if any player in that squad had the opportunity to leave they would get out ASAP – and thats cos the club is rotten from the very top.
Even a local geordie lad wanted out – Howay man there is something wrong there in itself …………………………

Comment #56@44 Right so we’ve sold Carroll
Any club would sell a player who is 22 had half a season in the premiership, scored 11 goals and had 1 international cap, Sturridge has a better record than Carroll last season and if someone offered Chelsea 35m for him they’d snap their hand off!
Nolan had 2 years left on his contract on 50k a week, who tries to negotiate a new contract with 2 years left unless they have done something amazing or a young player improving, Nolan was already one of the highest paid players, not a chance would I have given him a 5 year contract on 50k like so fair enough
Barton, whether what he’s saying is right or wrong his comments are very disruptive to the club, splitting the fans and not making the sort of impression we want if he genuinely cares as he says he does, not a chance would Mike Ashley let him go for free if he could get a few million for him unless he was causing serious problems internally
Players who justify a long contract and deserve a pay rise like Tiote will get one

Comment #58I mentioned this before but as it got ignored here it is again-i would like some honest opinions from both sides please.
MA had a great opportunity to prove to us fans that he did care about the club and fans.
If he had of kept last years squad together and spent the £30 mill from AC on 3-4 class players we could of really made a statement. In my humble opinion he has shown total contempt for the club and fans with his actions.
This £30 mill windfall could have been the platform and gave the youngsters time to develop properly instead of being thrown in at the deep end.

Comment #60I think if the lads in the squad were all allowed to speak openly without being fined or dropped then I think they would all agree with Barton

Comment #61Given a reasonabke chance I am sure at least some of them will make the grade and do well. Giving them a reasonable chance includes getting rid of Joey Barton. I am sick of him dragging the club through the clarts. Enough, if he doesn’t leave I would think we have enough to simply sack him.

Read my previous posts before insulting me. I agree with your points, but talking rubbish doesn’t convince anyone.
NO ONE says the club is being run perfectly. You’re insulting fans for things they haven’t said.
Just because people believe we’ve done the right thing with Barton, doesn’t mean they love Mike Ashley and want him to run the club forever.
Every discussion doesn’t have to be “I love Mike Ashley” vs “I hate Mike Ashley”. It’s people turning EVERY article into that argument that’s made the discussion on this blog so poor for the last 2 months.

Comment #66WWJBD you say that but who have we heard talk bad about the club, Enrique who wants out as he’s said on a few occasions to play European football
Barton who has a year left on his contract and would have been released next summer
Nolan had a dig when he had left because apparently the 2years he had left at 50k wasnt good enough for him for some reason
Players who arent in financial or contractual dispute with the club, find me one who has criticised the management and board

I did post this just now, but elapso will just come back with a stupid insult so I’ll direct it at you.
Not every discussion has to be a Love vs Hate Mike Ashley argument. I think that nearly all of us agree that Ashley is a complete d!ck, and as you said, has shown contempt for the fans & club. He’s not too stupid to know what to do to please us – he just doesn’t want to.
However, I really don’t see the need trying to turn every discussion into the Pro vs Against Ashley debate. It’s possible – not that I agree – to support Joey’s transfer listing AND dislike the regime :/

Comment #69why all the barton bashing regarding his little rant after the leeds defeat? i’m lead to believe he was upset about some of the players attitudes & he fired off at them about it – nowt wrong with that in my book like.
where would we have been if he hadn’t done the very same thing after the orient humiliation a couple of years back??
players with barton’s passion are few & far between & the club should have done everything the could to keep him – he’ll be a very big miss for the team.

Jonas at left back – as he’s played there for Argentina – and Fergy ahead of him would be better.
Surely Pardew would see that. But yeah, if we go into the season without a recognised LB, we’re completely screwed/.
