What is now coming to light quickly today, is that Joey Barton has made some conciliatory gestures to his employer – Newcastle United.
Joey Barton – conciliatory move by player
There has been a battle going on since last Monday, when Joey Barton was fired, and since then Joey has continued to tweet disparaging stuff about Mike Ashley, but it seems the 28 year-old may have finally come to his senses.
This is what a senior Newcastle official said today:
“Joey’s attitude ahead of the Leeds friendly could have been much better and the club have been frustrated and bewildered by his use of Twitter to showcase his feelings.”
“But what was said yesterday puts matters in a little different light and everyone knows what a fine player he can be. It may be in everyone’s best interest to find a way out of the corner that we’ve painted ourselves in.”
Joey has been way out of control, but whether things can be patched up with Mike Ashley we don’t know, but it will be very difficult.
That’s unless Joey has contacted the owner and apologized, and said he will finally quit that Twitter account of his, which is like a lighter being near a gasoline can, as far as Joey is concerned.
But he’s embarrassed himself and the Newcastle club this week, and that’s the unfortunate truth.
We have no idea what will happen now, but it’s obvious that Alan Pardew is willing to forgive and forget, given his comments about Joey earlier today.
But Alan Pardew is not the last word on Joey, it’s owner Mike Ashley, who was the one criticized, and Mike has never shown much mercy in the past, and we’d be surprised if he shows any now.
There’s no doubt that Joey is a very good player and gives his heart and soul to Newcastle, but he cannot keep blowing up like this.
We are running a vote on the home page – on whether you want Joey to stay at Newcastle for next season – please vote so we can get a measure of the feelings of the Newcastle fans about this.
Comments welcome.

Comment #47“Enrique is still here and will play on Saturday,” Pardew added.
“I don’t see an issue that he won’t start. I know there’s interest in Jose, but no concrete interest. We are poised to react to that.
^ so basically they will replace if he leaves, good sign

Harper
Simpson Collo Saylor Enrique/Mbengue
Guttierez Gosling Cabaye Marveux
Vuckic
Ba
Subs: Krul, Tavernier, Tiote, Loven, Abeid, Williamson.
Nothing wrong with that team mate.
And i’ve only added the LB.
Yes, we need more strength in depth, but i belive that will come.

Comment #52The more we write out the team and everyday we see it written on the screen – it will convince us slowly that we are not that bad at all. I mean Collo, Tiote, Cabaye, Gosling and Ba would get into at least 16 of the Premier Leagues Sides… No worries – So it all looks good and on PES 2011 this team works very nicely indeed…

I put the comment on about tiote earlier.
I’ve commented on here for a while now, can you tell me another time when I’ve made a comment like that (mate ITK), no, never. I don’t pretend to be ITK, just passing on info.
If everyone had that attitude, then what would be the point of this blog?

Comment #55I think big Mikey might of looked at how much it would take to replace Barton and might decide to give him a new 3 year contract
Barton is far better than Barnetta so save the £6 mill transfer fee and extend King Joeys contract
it must be killing some on here after all the flak they have gave St Joey come on lads have faith in Mikey
The king lives “hip hip hurrah hip hip hurrah”

Comment #56@Dannyo – Nice one. Thanks – Harper Not sure on that anymore – more of a spokesman now… I like the way fans now are putting Vuckic in… he could be worth 10 times what Barton or anyone is worth is less than 2 good seasons.

The reason i stuck Harper in there is due to his experience.
I hope, and think, Pardew will consider them the same way.
Harpers reflexes is bound to slow down a bit at this point, but he’s solid in goal, and isn’t phased by the pressure at the Arsenal game, first game of the season.
Maybe Krul is better, i cant say really, but i’d go with the experience against Arsenal, simply due to it being a great adversary and the first game of the season.

Comment #62I’ve just read everything Pardew had to say on this agent/Barton/Enrique and I can’t fault him on anything he said. He obviously wants Barton to stay but also has the backbone to point out that players can’t keep criticising their clubs on twitter, regardless of whether or not it’s true. Also I agree that labelling 40k weekly wages as ‘ridiculous’ is in itelf a ridiculous thing to say.
I hope Enrique stays but it doesn’t seem likely. Also I hope Pardew really is ‘ready to react’ if someone comes in for him. What else can we expect the man to say?

Agree with you on your comments mate.
About replacements, for Jose, i do think there are some contengency plans, i’m sure i heard Pardew talk about that about 3 weeks ago or so in an interview.
But in all honesty, i dunno who’d be Enriques replacement.
Naylor i think was a more “strength in depth” type player. Atleast this season. Maybe we’ll go back for him, but i doubt it with his new contract.

Comment #75Just realised why this blog is almost full of negative posts..
The schools are off for their summer holidays..
Anyway, back to the post and football. I would like Barton to stay, even after the whole twitter thing that has been going on for a while now, and that is because he is a good distributor of the ball and a leader on the pitch. Those are qualities you need in your team and without him we will lose our ‘bite’ and our ‘bark’ on the pitch. I am not saying he is irreplaceable, or we dont have anyone to come into the team for him, its just that I feel better with him on the pitch than Ryan Taylor or Danny Guthrie
