Mehdi Abeid So Happy To Be At Newcastle

We’ve said before that the saving grace for Newcastle next season could be that a lot of the young talent comes through big time, and help to bolster the first team squad.

Mehdi Abeid – a good looking player – could be a steal

And one player who has already made a huge impact at the club, but still has  a lot to learn,  is 18 year-old Mehdi Abeid, who was born in France and is of Algerian heritage.

Mehdi seems to have fitted into the squad very well indeed, and has formed a good friendship with another 18 year old with huge potential at the club – Haris Vuckic.

And we have made no secret of the fact we are just a little concerned that the antics of Jose Enrique and Joey Barton recently, may have had a negative impact on some of the new arrivals at the club.

But Mehdi seems very happy to be on Tyneside, and he gives a refreshing interview today to the official Newcastle United web-site.

Here’s what the France U18 player said:

“I am really happy, but it is not finished – I have to work a lot this year if I want to be in the squad,”  “I have to work hard with the other players every day.”

“It is my wish to be in the squad, I am really happy to be here and am training with really great players around me.”

“I like to have the ball, to play, to pass. I like to play both offensive and defensive and this team suits that. I have only been here for one month but have already learned a lot from some very good players. That is fantastic for me.”

“America was really, really nice. I learned a lot. It was my first time with the first team and they helped me a lot – they did a lot of good things for me.”  “They tried to integrate me in the team and it was good for me. I am really happy.”

“It was a really good game against Gateshead,” “We played very well. The system was good and we did a lot of good things.” “It is good for this season. The manager now knows that he can take young players if he needs.’

“We are here to learn, to train every day and to learn but we can also play if we are asked to.”

That’s a good interview with the French youngster, and he has already shown he has immense skills on the ball,  and he could turn out to be a great buy for the club.

Maybe Newcastle can do one or two things right after all, but yes, it seems I’m getting carried away- again.

😀

We like this lad a lot – and he has a good attitude and could turn out to be a terrific player for Newcastle in the future.

Hope so.

    @davybtoon

    Have you seen him play before he moved to us?
    Not counting YouTube videos, have you seen him play any full games last season?

    Hope he is good, he certainly show’d he has potential from the little I have seen of him.

    Great signing … hope we can hang on to him.

    A top No9 to bang in goals from our talented midfield is desperately needed.

    Hope Ashley know that this will cost and will buy before the end of the window

    We’ll bid 5 million for Long he’ll go for seven to WestBrom or somebody like that and Pardew will spin it that we can’t compete with the big boys

    That’s not a particularly strong team imo. Those full backs will get tortured and not sure if Ba can lead the line.

    Glad to have him at Newcastle. Him and Vuckic will make an impact in the first team this year. From what I’ve seen of him from the tour of the States and the few vids that exist on YouTube from his Lens days and it becomes obvious we’ve got a very good player on our hands, and only 18!. Add another feather to Carrs’ cap!

    Barton trains with the Youth team! It’s a step up

    I just wished we could’ve got Erdinc. He would suit the formation and style that Pardew wants. Guess theirs still a chance he could come. Maybe Pardew will bring that up aswell. I will be greatly disappointed if all he talks about is the Fiorentina game. I want him to talk about the future plans, transfers, Barton and Enrique.

    On the plus side, he seem to have leave on France his behaviors problems.

    @Jack

    I’m not sure, for i know little about him. This is what RC Lens Fans told me when i’ve ask them about Abeid on their forum.

    They said it’s the main reason he have not play with Lens first team..
