Captain Coloccini Looking Forward To Fiorentina Game

It will be a proud moment for Fabricio Coloccini today when he leads out the Newcastle team for the important  pre-season friendly against Fiorentina.

Fab Coloccini – proud day today for the Argentine

And it must also have been an uncomfortable week for the Argentine as the new captain, with all the goings on about Joey Barton, and Newcastle being headline news again, for all the wrong reasons.

And it will be a good game for Newcastle fans, with Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux all set to make their home debuts, and let’s hope these new boys all have good games this afternoon.

This is what the calm  and cool Fabricio said about the game today:

“It’s good because it is the team presentation for the season,”  “It will be a good game against a top team in Italy.”

“They’re a really good team. Like all Italian teams they are good tactically and they have a lot of good players so it’ll be good for the fans to watch a good game.”

“We’re looking forward to it, but for now we’re still trying to find our feet as a team and to get confident to look forward to playing Arsenal.”

Fabricio of course  is the consummate professional, and the Newcastle fans thought he was an excellent choice as captain,  with 93% in our poll approving of Alan Pardew’s selection made in early July.

With the 3-2 defeat at Leeds United last Sunday, and the team not playing well at all, followed by all the nonsense surrounding Joey Barton’s  Twitter antics, we want to see a good performance from the team today, and a win if at all possible.

And that will be just what Newcastle fans need, so we can all get past the Barton affair, and be ready for Arsenal next Saturday, which is of course a late kick off game at 5:30 pm.

That will give the lads a chance to know how many they have to beat Arsenal by,  to go top of the league.

😀

Howay The Lads!!

Looking forward to the match today, although it won’t be the strongest, because we have Ben arfa and tiote out until they return to fitness and sort out visa problems respectively. I don’t include Barton, to be honest I don’t expect him to play for the first team again, despite pardews comments about not closing the door on him.

i think the team which will play today will be the team which play against arsenal if Tiote returns then one member of this team will have to make way for Tiote and sit on bench

FCB will be rubbing his hands in glee

The cash registers will be jingling and that’s all that matters to the rotund one!!! He needs to recover the fortune he has spent on players in the close season after all.

Then there is the cost of the training ground plumbing on top of that – poor bloke must be tossing and turning at night worrying about the cost of these outlays!! Makes your heart bleed for him!!

What a boring pre-season:-( No matches that we can stream and not a good transfer activity by the club. Was happy about the players we have brought in, but we need at least 3 more players, and if we loose Barton and Enrique they also has to bee replaced. That will never happen:-( A relegation battle?

I know we havent strengthened our team sufficiently yet but I don’t know why people are worrying about relegation?!?

At the beginning of summer I hoped we’d invest heavily and push for a top 8 finish. Now I think we’ll do the same as last season and finish between 9th and 12th.

Can’t see relegation coming into it at all.

I hope your right, I just hope that injuries don’t become a big problem. We already have a few injuries, before the season has started. Today should be a good indicator to how are season could look.

Can’t see it being televised … it’s only a friendly.

I think Radio Newcastle have the commentary.

Perhaps there’ll be a link for that.
