St James’ Park Tribute And History – Video

Here is a Youtube video that’s been created by one of our readers, Roy Kavanagh, and it tracks the history of St. James’ Park.

St. James Park is the sixth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom with a capacity of 52,409, and is located right in the center of Newcastle, with its white cantilever roof visible across the City, and it is the largest cantilever in Europe.

It has been the home ground of the club ever since Newcastle United were created back in 1892 – I remember it well.

Andy, I have to disagree with you. West Ham should not stay down there because of their horrible owner, or we will be heading to the Conference.

To promote his own brand worldwide. He’s making us self sufficient so he wont spend money on us within a few years. It’s called free advertising 😛
Initially quite expensive tho, but he got back what he paid this year in the £200 million xtra income…

  • See that Obertan isn’t even on the bench. Probably took over the room that Barnetta was stuck in.

I think Newcastle united is the vehicle for driving
Sports Direct ..keep the name up there ,,that’s all Ashley is interested in ..Not our club

    We are being used

He does not care about our heritage our history or this Land.

Why bother buying Newcastle United and then tell us we cant compete? What was the use of coming here ?

    Answer: Sports Direct

Please sell up Ashley please !

And before all you Ashley lovers have a pop at me
Ashley and Llambias were proved to be Liar’s Under oath, in a court of law…

    We are Being used.

Please sell up Ashley, Please ..

Put a top side out on the pitch

After all this is a Football Club

    Newcastle United Football Club.

Why the hell did Ashley buy us if he wont compete ?

Why has he come here ?

Best comment I ever heard on here was.. Ashley is subsidising a relegation.

They have got hold of our club and the plan is that it drives Sports Direct .

Newcastle United is not the priority.!!!!

Online guy, There are lots of clubs which owners have bought and they knew they didnt have the financial clout to compete with Man utds, chelseas etc. However that doesnt make them non competitive as they are just constantly trying to improve bit by bit. Truth be told we have no other option unless an owner comes in and spends £300 million plus on transfers. Think you need to come back to reality. Unless you know someone who can invest that kind of money of course.

Agree on a lot of what you say

My take is that when a club is taken over the club is the priority .

With Ashley the priority is sports direct ,NOT Newcastle United.

This is A Football Club, not a vehicle to promote a Sports Shop. And that’s Ashley’s priority Sports direct

He does not Support us as a supporter ,,never has .

Newcastle United are used to drive his Sports Direct brand ,period.

    Football come’s second .

When A Football Club takes on a new owner the priority should be that Football Club, not a secondary Concern.

He said we can’t compete financially with the top clubs. Where’s the surprise there? Why take his comments out of context just to be negative? He knows we can’t compete with the likes of Man City or Chelsea so he is trying to take a different approach and bring the youth through. Give it a chance….

Why is the success of the club constantly being linked to how much money we spend in the transfer market?

Sure it helps, but so does being able to pay wages. And you don’t need to spend massive amounts of money to build a passionate and skilled team.

Layoff Ashley. We have a strong team, I feel its more about Pardew’s ability to blend and motivate the players to play as a cohesive squad than if we spend 35 million.

Leave your hate for when it is actually required. And I will eat my left shoe if we get anywhere near relegation next season.

Well £35 million was taken for Andy and promise to the fans that it would be spent on the team . that statement .Fooled you did it ?

If your going to Improve the team to compete in the long term why did we not go out and pay the going rate for one top striker? say 15 mil from the 35 million?

Simonsez, dont tell me iv got to get back to reality ..

We are getting the piss taken out of us as fans
    Sports direct comes first

What the hell is it going to take for you Ashley apologists to understand whats going on ?

Mid table to relegation scrap every season .
No ambition whatsoever for this Football club

He cant even take honest comment from Jose that the club is getting rid of its best players while not signing any real top players .. Fined the player £100.000 ! for telling the truth ..

Thats what Ashley thinks of his team And players .
,No respect for an honest opinion from Jose..He had to slap him down and show what a dictator he is.

Remember this before you quote me on money

£49 million in TV money last season
    This season over £50 million
    Season ticket sales this season?
    £35 million Carroll cash

The Nolan deal paid for Cabay transfer

The free transfers HHAHAHAH ! cost ? £3.4 mill..including agents fees.

Undersoil heating and training ground improvements paid for by the Olympic fund ..they just Lied to you on that !!!

Sports direct comes before Newcastle united ..
He is using Newcastle United to drive his company .

I have spoken To Kieth Harris and you can quote me on this ..HE told me …

That “Ashley has lost his Heart for Newcastle United and there would be no going back on that , no chance”.end quote.

The owner has no affinity with the area the club or our people

    Wake up.

    New catch phrase …

    Please sell up Ashley please.

    Online Guy

Here is my answer. I posted this last night in another article:

Here is an interestin artical by ESPN.

For those of you who don’t want to read the whole thing, here are a few quotes:

“My plan and my strategy for Newcastle is different. It has to be,” Ashley said in a statement. “Arsenal is the shining example in England of a sustainable business model. It takes time. Newcastle has therefore set up an extensive scouting system. We look for young players, for players in foreign leagues who everyone does not know about. We search high and low looking for value, for potential that we can bring on and for players who will allow Newcastle to compete at the very highest level but who don’t cost the earth.”

“I paid £134 million out of my own pocket for the club. I then poured another £110 million in not to pay off the debt but just to reduce it,” Ashley revealed three years ago, even before the financial hit of relegation was heading at him like a freight train. “The club is still in debt. Even worse than that, the club still owes millions of pounds in transfer fees.

“I was left with a club that owed millions and part of whose future had been mortgaged. Unless I had come into the club then it might not have survived. Before I had spent a penny on wages or buying players Newcastle United had cost me more than a quarter of a billion pounds.”

The mathematically astute will realise that’s nearly 20% of Ashley’s current net worth. That’s a considerable commitment whoever you are. As of last summer “every effort will be made by the board to achieve a ‘break even’ financial situation by 2015?, but in the meantime Ashley is plugging a lot of gaps.

AND: Fans may also moan that all the Carroll money has not been reinvested (as was promised, albeit in the heat of the moment), but then again the club returned losses of nearly £70 million in the two seasons between 2008 and 2010. Presumably the fans also want European football, yet – under the soon-to-be-introduced UEFA Financial Fair Play rules – those figures would make them ineligible. Money has to be saved somewhere.

I will say this again, to return NUFC to its glory day is a SLOW, STEADY climb and as I see it, MA is starting things off on the right foot.

Florida..yeah he bought the club it wasnt going for free He states the obvious there,,JUst a big Ego trip I paid for this and i paid for that, whats he expect we are a national Institution did he expect to get it for a pound ?, that statement you just linked to was from a few years back… Why Buy a club if your ambition for that club is low and to survive by scraping around for players ?

He is not following the Arsenal plan by the way Arsenal just paid out £13 million for a player…

Your doing the fans a disservice. He should never have come here.

The Late Great Bobby Robson said a few weeks before he died ..” What Are they doing to my Football club ”

What Ashley failed to tell you in that interview was that he is in fact a LIAR

And I for one cannot take dishonesty in any form.

    It betrays trust..

What he said back then does not count now ..

You are being conned ..Sports direct make more than the Football. club, 2 hundred million! up on profits last year

And Newcastle United is giving him 20 million a year in free ! advertising to drive it

Sports direct is his main thing the football club comes second as Ashley would have took some of that £200million profit! from Sports direct and give us a world class team.

Now ask yersel Who comes first, Sports Direct? or Newcastle United ?

If he cared about the team on the pitch he would put that first

Dont take my word for it read up on the statements of a very honest man who has worked for him
    .Kevin Keegan..

Can you imagine if he had bought Liverpool
and treat the fans And the Liverpool club as he has treat us ..they would not be putting up with this crap

Sell Your Top Striker for £35 million pounds for Fu**k sake and then not even replace him with say a £10 million quid striker ..200 million pound extra profit at
Sports Di f**k**nrectum and he cant even buy us a half decent striker with a fraction of the money he got in for Andy Carroll are you for F****ing real !!!!!!!!
