We don’t want to be spreading news that may be untrue, but in the Journal this morning there is news that Danny Simpson may now be considering his future at Newcastle.
Danny Simpson – considering future?
If that’s accurate then it’s time for both Derek Llambias and Mike Ashley to talk to the players about whatever their concerns are, otherwise it looks like our best players will continue to want to leave to join bigger clubs than Newcastle.
We’ve given up hope that Ashley and LLambias they’ll ever talk to the fans, although that’s what we were told in December of 2008, when the club was taken off the market for the first time.
That was the Sunday morning of the 5-1 defeat against Liverpool (my arm just start to hurt again), and after that game Shay Given wanted out, because he couldn’t stand Mike Ashley.
At the time they said it was a mistake to take a bunker mentality towards the fans, but that’s exactly what they’ve been doing since then.
We are being told by Alan Pardew all the time that Newcastle cannot compete with the likes of Chelsea, both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and others, so we suppose that makes us a small club now?
This is what Alan said today:
“People have to buy into what the club is all about. This is Newcastle United, we don’t have the riches of other clubs, that is obvious.”
“Sometimes you have to accept what it is and work as hard as you can with what you have got. Since I have been here that is what we have done, and that is what it needs to be.”
“Every player needs to be focused on trying to over-achieve, because if we don’t we won’t be good enough.”
It’s a bad business if the policy being pursued by Mike Ashley, thrift to the extreme and making Newcastle a selling club (selling top players like Andy carroll so we can survive financially), is driving other good players away from Newcastle.
Danny Simpson has been offered a new five year deal on Tyneside, and it seems he’s reconsidering whether he should sign it or not.
That’s hardly good news, but to finish this article on a more positive note, we could well see Gabriel Obertan become a Newcastle player today, after he takes his medical on Tyneside, and that could be a good start to the week.
And the other good news is that Arsenal may be without up to 9 players for the game against Newcastle this Saturday, as they are having their own little troubles in pre-season.
Ad it’s almost a certainty that neither Fabregas nor Nasri will play in that game, so maybe an easy 3 points?
😀

Comment #42oldbobaycliffe – The team that got relegated was awesome on paper, much better than the squad we have now.
However we all know how that turned out. I’d rather have players who want to play for us than players playing for the contract who disappear when things go tits up.

The French team on paper have had one of the best teams in the world since 2002 but they have been a shite unit…
Much rather the players we have now that appear to deliver a lot more than high profile names on the pitch mate.

Comment #45The troubleling thing is that there seems to be something wrong within the NUFC camp – and whatever it is they need to sort it out.
We cannot have a owner and a managing director that doesn’t talk to players nor the fans. It’s causing problems.
Nor can we have players that are not pulling for the team and think they are all high and mighty.
Now Barton is on deep water water and it remains to be seen whether his future is here or somewhere else. I rate him as a player, but as an individual – well lets put it this way I would never have payed Man City £ 5.8 mil. for him. NEVER!!!
Enrique is more than solid and have come a long long way since we signed him. If his heart is set on leaving then fair play to him, but I would just wish he would ask for a transfer then. Don’t understand why MA would sell him for less than he cost us; Zoggy had one year left of his contract and Villa payed almost £ 10 mil. for him.
Simpson is hardly one of our best players, so if he start to cause problems or he’s not committed to the course then of he goes; BUT will MA sanction any money for a replacement RB? It remains to be seen.
Looking forward to news about whether Obertan completes his medical or not. We still need another striker and I still believe Bendtner is a good call; maybe just to expensive since his father/agent is as arrogant as his son when iit comes to his abilities.

Comment #46Suddenly this summer is starting to brighten up. Obertan coming in, Cheick getting visa sorted, news of potential signings and nowthe possible departure of the very limited Simmo. Whats next? New striker, left back and Alan Smith off wage bill. Can but dream. In Carr we trust!

Comment #48I wish we would stop pandering to Enrique, when his heart is obviously no longer on Tyneside. Let him go. A swap with Insua + cash seems the obvious thing but doubt that will happen.
I really do think that barton both now and later is just always going to be a never ending erupting volcano and very very damaging to the club above all else. No one man and all that.
Our best team on paper has some real quality bar a striker and left back.

Comment #50“Danny Simpson may now be considering his future at Newcastle”..don`t make me laugh..he is nothing but a fringe pl player..offload him, and buy some real talent!! The french league is prob the best marked for newcastle to look for in every positions. Starting with a attacking full back

Comment #51Ok, let’s get this into perspective. Simpson is not one of the best RB in the league, they’re all playing for the top 4/5 clubs but he’s hardly the worst and absolute toilet whatever that is supposed to mean is just stupid.
He’s a good solid right back, he’s still relatively young and is the club’s best RB at the moment. Tav may go on and develop into an even better one and that’s great but any other talk is just nonsense. FFS we had him on loan for long enough to know what we were buying.

Comment #52The posts on this article sum up many of the people on this blog.
Pardew28- your post about loyal players is probably the most stupid post I have ever read.
Rotonda- that ‘team’ you put out would have us relegated.
Two faced tw*^s- people slating Nolan after he gave nothing but 100% for the team and club. I’m surprised any player would want to play for us with clueless fickle immature fans like many on here appear to be.

“Anybody who thinks Tavernier is just some kid who was at loan on Gateshead last season needs to smell the coffee.
Tavernier was brilliant in the States and the management at Newcastle really think he can push on this season.
He is basically a right-back and will challenge the position this season”
Lee Ryder has TAV in RB already!!!

Comment #54here,here king kev. people must think the players are daft im sure they read these blogs and after hearing what some of these planks on here say about them, im surprised any of them want to sign a new contract, half the w@nkers on here probably dont even go to games they just watch match of the day, its the same people who say we should sign him and him because they watched him do some keep-ups on youtube. simpson may not be gary neville but i bet hes a better player than f@cking pardew 28

Comment #56Give Tavernier his place. He seems as good if not better and is younger. Let him push on and develop into a top RB instead of wasting time with a decent but fairly mediocre player in Simpson.

Comment #57Ed – It’s a bad business if the policy being pursued by Mike Ashley, thrift to the extreme and making Newcastle a selling club (selling top players like Andy carroll so we can survive financially), is driving other good players away from Newcastle.
What ARE you on about?
A selling club just because we sold AC for £35M ??
Does that make Arsenal a selling club because they sold Henry, Anelka, and Adebayor and now probably Fabregas and Nasri?
We’ve given Tiote and HBA five year contracts, offered Enrique £60K a week to stay and would have kep AC if he handed demanded £80K a week two months after signing a contract for £40K.
I bet Simpsons’s gripe is all about money – nothing else. If you remember he nearly didn’t sign last time because he was only offered £10K a week. No doubt he was told promotion and good displays would earn him a rise. He’s probably been offered £20K – about right IMO – but wants £30K or £40K. He’s not worth it.
To suggest that Simpson isn’t signing because he wants to see us signing top players is a joke.

Comment #61Simpson’s a good player and he’s still improving. I hope he stays. Aside form that, we really can’t afford to be losing players now, esp. defenders.
I don’t understand why so many people think he’s awful. He’s far from it. Okay he’s not the greatest RB in the world, that doesn’t make him bad though. Mentioning one or two costly mistakes doesn’t build a case against a player either, my God can’t our players make a mistake without being written off for it? People are saying the same thing about Forster. Colo made many mistakes in his first season for us, look at him now. Drogba was poor in his first season for Chelsea. Even Shearer missed the odd sitter (very, very rarely) but that doesn’t mean I can build a case against him!
When are some of us going to realise that the fact NUFC fans are some of the most loyal and passionate in the world does not mean that every player we sign will dedicate their entire careers to us? That’s wishful thinking to the extreme!
I hope he stays; I won’t slag him off if he doesn’t.
