Ben Arfa Out Another Six Weeks

Some disappointing new in the Newcastle Journal this morning.

Hatem Ben Arfa – out another six weeks?

They are reporting that Hatem Ben Arfa will still be out for another six weeks with his ankle injury.

When the injury  happened in America, we were told it would be about four weeks, and that Hatem would miss the first two games of the season, against Arsenal and Sunderland.

But now it looks like he’ll miss a lot more games and will not be back until mid-September at best.

So he could miss the first four games of the season, and be ready for the trip to Aston Villa on 17th September, or else the home game against Blackburn Rovers one week later on September 24th.

That’s a pity since the youngster was just getting back to some of his best form.

And finally, some good news for a change, and as we reported last night, 25 year-old  Spanish striker Xisco is ready to join his former club Deportivo in a permanent deal, and Newcastle will get his £50K/week wages off the books.

Comments welcome.

    so arsenals team tomorrow should look like this;
    Scezny
    Sagna – Konscielny – Vermalen – Gibbs?
    Ramsey – Song – Rocicky
    Walcot RVP Gervinho

Think the midfield battle is key to this game. Our 2 possibly 3 cabaye, tiote and barton can all challenge these guys physically and if we can disrupt them and stop them playing i can’t see them threatening.
We can exploit gibbs i think as i’ve watched them pre-season and he is very weak. Can’t tackle! Our defence will be over-ran if the midfield don’t do their job as arsenal have pace in abundance. Something we lack and struggle against. All that being said i can’t wait! HWTL!!

Bit of copy and paste just want to see a bit of reaction. What is everyone thinking for tomorrows game? Confident? I’m 50-50 and nervous like i am before every game! haha

Well, with Xisco off the books, the one-out-one-in system should finally allow us to sign a striker, no?

@Andy – I’m excited as fook for the match tomoro mainly because Premierleague is starting again!

But team you put out I would agree just hopefully if our midfield puts up a good fight we should be able to pick up 3 points fingers crossed

It’s a shame, nothing more, we have good strength in midfield, he will be more missed if we do not bring a striker in, but we will see!

ED. re. Xisco, is it confirmed as a permanant deal now??

It has been so quiet at NUFC on this subject it was becoming more and more obvious that it was a lot more serious than they were letting on!!

Hope he is back, fully fit, as soon as possible – on the positive side, it will give maybe 2 of our new signings a chance to shine in the meantime!!!

@Andy – I’d go for that team to be put out aswell, just really thankful fabregas ain’t playing aswell as nasri possibly being out. If our midfield do the job we could get 3 points 😛

@Lewspi – Well that’s what the club say we will just have to see how long they take to get 1 in …

Ah Arshavin. Would they play him central? I thought he usually plays wing for them? Heard he picked up a knock for russia so not sure if he’s fit either

Oh balls, how we can we build a team around someone who is never there 🙁
Why does his injuries have to be so bleedin long?!

About Xisco, Deportivo homepage says its a year long loan, without option to buy.
Would be nice if Newcastle could stick something on their homepage.

He was never gonna play tomorrow anyway so whats the big deal?

Our biggest weakness is Left Back as we don’t know who will play there.

Yes, we are a striker light, but it’s not like we have none!

That is far worse news than Jose.
HBA wants to play for us – (remember him going on strike to get his loan deal….?) and in France they talk about him as being another Zidane.
I would say hes the man to build the team around for the next generation – but what it probably means is we will sell him to Barca after he stars for France in the Euros.

@8 Nah Arsenal’s reserve team is surprisingly not good. Our reserves beat them last year 2-1 at SJP. If their players aren’t going to feature in first team they loan them out so they don’t rot in the reserve league.

Fabregas, Nasri and Wilshere are defo out obertoon. Wenger said in his p/c and wilshere has been reported and is apparently struggling to make their cl game mid week. They expect verm and rvp to be fit. If RVP wasn’t playing i’d be slightly more confident
