Good news being reported in the Daily Mail is that Joe Barton will start for Newcastle United on Saturday evening, against Arsenal.
A great photo – I love you Alan – honest!
The midfielder, who’s again been courting controversy with his tweets over the last couple of weeks, seems to have convinced Alan Pardew that he is fully committed to Newcastle, and he trained with the first team on Friday, following more one-on-one talks between the two earlier on Friday.
It seems that Barton has persuaded Alan Pardew he is now fully committed for a final season on Tyneside.
Not to put too much of a damper on it, but things could change if Joey gets a big new offer before September, but it seems that only Stoke City have offered him a move away from Tyneside.
Joey will start out on the right wing, and that must be good news for Newcastle fans, after one of our other top players, Jose Enrique, left Newcastle yesterday for Liverpool.
Joey is a character to say the least, but when he plays for the side he gives his heart and soul to the cause, and we think he’ll get a warm welcome from the fans tomorrow,
Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are not in the Arsenal side, and Newcastle have a decent chance of starting their season with a win, and that would be just the result Newcastle fans need right now.
Even with Joey back in the side, we still expect top new signing Yohan Cabaye to take the set pieces, but that will no longer be a surprise to Joey.
And it looks like James Perch could start at left back, and he will have a fitness test before the game, after he took a knock in training.
And a surprise tonight as the Tyneside club has confirmed that striker Xisco has rejoined Deportivo la Coruna but on a season-long loan deal – so it’s not a permanent deal – and that’s a pity.
But at least Deportivo will be paying some of the lad’s wages next season.
Xisco still has two years left on a contract that pays him around £50K/week.
