I had to vote for Simpson….simply because he cleared the ball off the line. Props to Colo but I figure he will get enough votes from everyone else.

Good result, the way I see it to better last years placing we have to defend our results from last year and better where we screwed up so today we have our point, albeit in very different circumstances, and next week we have another 1 to defend, although that should have been 3!

Where we’ll improve is by beating Blackburn, Stoke, Swansea (Blackpool Equivalent), West Brom, Everton, Fulham, Wigan and Bolton at home, 4 points last year is a poor return and if we defend our results against the top teams, we’ve a real chance to go 15+ points better, which last year would have had us above Liverpool in 6th!

Agree. He looked good for the first 10 min or so then looked uninterested in fighting/going for loose balls.

nightfa11 i saw him chase back about 50 metres to win the ball back twice. He had some good runs with the ball and his touch to cabaye was quality. Cabaye probably should’ve done better with it though.

How can you rate Simpson lower than Raylor. He was steady all game even though he was outpaced and saved a point for us. Behind Colo he was our best defender.

Obatoon did do well when he had the ball(and chasing down the long ball) but at times he just stood there looking at balls he could have possibly got. Maybe he was tired, don’t know but needs to got all out all the time especially when subbed on.

please give credit where it is due……overall a dire match and the lads didnt look sharp at all…but simpson and raylor did really well – considering raylor played out of position got raped on afew occasions in the first half but after that adapted really well…showed us we can count on him when needed.
ASimpson has got so much flak but did really well – he was great in his backing off and cobnstantly showed gervinho onto his left paw – best simpson game for a long time…well done
collo and jonas closely followed by staylor motm….the rest…expect better..but hey early dats and we are on the board…was fearing the worst after the first 10 min

I don’t quite get why people are doing cartwheels about Obertan.. he was ok, lacked some finesse and I thought a bit aimless off the ball. Good squad option again but not a starter for me yet.

    @11 adam

Raylor was ok but there were a few times he got turned badly and Guti had to help. Not bad for being thrown in at LB and I won’t down him but a bit shaky at times.

And yet others continually say we are not a bette squad than last year. I’m with you, Pardew has some tough choices to make and that is good.

main reason people are hyped about obertan is he was the only player to create any type of good chance all match and was only on for 45 mins. Should be RM for us next game imo.

    Colo all day long.

Barton has already been yellow carded for the Incident.
So the fa cant ban him.

Its only if the ref didn’t book the player.

Just been on an arsenal board and found this.

When Barton Grabs Gervinho and picks him up by the shirt / throat, the ball is still in play.

This by the letter of the law is a foul, and there for a penalty as Gervinho was inside the Newcastle box.

    Yes or No??

Opinions? Was gervinho pulled for the dive?

@19 Yeh but he never left the team exposed or lost possession in dangerous areas like a certain enrique, the only thing he allowed was the odd poor ball from gervinho, deffo my mom

  • Would have loved to vote for Gervinho. But that choice wasn’t available. what I found funny was fox presenter saying. “Well that’ll make Gervinho think twice before he takes a dive again in the Premier League”. What pees me is Joey’s reaction. But then again Song stamped on Joey and if seen would have got a red, so it’s a case of what goes around comes around.

Andy – pathetic clutching at straws by the Gooners – as usual,
I thought Colo was magnificent – and I was relativelt=y pleased by Raylor’s performance – considering he is effectively about 7th choice right midfielder playing at left fullback he didn’t let us down. I thought Obertan did well, did put a lot of energy and pace into us – and we were much more positive in the 2nd half with him on and Cabaye playing more forward. Difficult game for him – its hard to look impressive against Arsenal when they keep so much possession – but I think he’ll do fine.

And yes – Barton worries me – he got “involved” twice and needs to watch his self-control even more. Plus I have to say his delivery was poor at free-kicks and crosses – he seemed to hit the first defender all the time.

i thought in general we were unambitious, way too slow, rusty and non match fit….never seemed to move for each other just accepting the fact of defending…it was the total opposite of what pardew told us to expect…..after the first 10 min one phrase kept appearing in my head: lambs to the slaughter and it eminded me of an ice hockey match where there is power play……
thank god that our defense was a beast today…we can only get better cause despite the result (which was exelent) the play was abysmal…
(im a pardew fan by the way)

But he made a dull game much more entertaining..

Stevie Taylor was quality today….really has come on in bounds.
Surprised how well Ryan did and Jonas worked tirelessly to help him out.
Full back line did well and Shola did brilliantly today, didn’t get much help from BA.
