Llambias – We Will Bring New Players In Before September

Derek Llambias must have read an article yesterday on this blog, that pointed out he needed to speak more to the Newcastle fans.

Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias

Yeah right!

The Managing Director has written his piece in the program notes for the game against Arsenal,  and he says he is keen to help bolster Alan Pardew’s squad, before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

And with Newcastle’s very decent point against Arsenal on Saturday, it will hopefully help raise the spirits of Newcastle fans.

However,  the attendance was rather disappointing yesterday, at just under 47,000, which is a good 5,000 short of capacity, which we usually get when Arsenal visit the Toon.

Pardew has identified the need for a striker and also a left-back, after Jose Enrique moved to Liverpool, a club he has always wanted to play for,  apparently,

Newcastle have signed Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid and Demba Ba so far this summer, and they are all very good players, but the new lads will need some time to get used to the Premier League, which is the world’s top football league of course.

Maybe that low attendance against Arsenal, well at least it’s low for Newcastle,  shows some discontent among the Newcastle faithful, about the significant thrift being shown by owner Mike Ashley, who has yet to spend any of the £35M the club received for Andy Carroll.

This is what LLambias wrote in his notes ahead of Newcastle’s game against Arsenal on Saturday:

“We are delighted with the business that we have conducted in the transfer market this summer, and we added further quality to our squad this week with the signing of Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United,”

“Gabriel is an exciting player and along with the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid, we have every right to be pleased with our transfer activity so far.”

“But we are fully aware of the need to add further players to our squad and we will be working hard to try and bring the right kind of players in before the transfer window shuts in 18 days.”

“They are top-quality players who will hopefully make a big impression here, and added to the quality that we already have at the club, we are all very excited about the coming months.

“But we are fully aware of the need to add further players to our squad and we will be working hard to try and bring the right kind of players in before the transfer window shuts in 18 days.”

The bottom line is that Newcastle have brought in some very good players this summer, in spite of not spending much money at all.

We suppose that’s the most important thing, and if  Newcastle can now sign a top striker and a top left back, then  the club will not have done too badly this summer after all.

But what are we to do with Joey Barton?

Comments always welcome.

Alan Shearer… Why is he such a f@ggot?! He doesn’t leave Barton alone.
Time for Shearer to get over his little spat with him!
Shearer is legend… But Joey is by far my favourite, commitment is 110% not saying Shearers wasn’t
    😉

And this just repeats and repeats, get it spent this week haha

Andy 2 – I was hoping Tav would stay because i didnt think Simpson was up to the mark last season, he did ok today so time will tell. he still needs competition though. Hopefully Fergy will get game time when Marv isnt fit, still dont like seeing barton on the right. Just gives me the impression we are going to be hoofing the ball in.

Just wanted to rewatch the game but it seems sky arent showing it on football first because it was on espn 🙁

SIGN SIGN SIGN !!! Great additions to the squad and I don’t care how much they cost tbh as long as our signings are QUALITY.

It’s nice to see that Llambias is actually communicating with us fans without putting his foot in it… we’ll see by September 1st I suppose.

    ED.

I know it’s just one same picky point, but why do you spell it LLambias? It’s Llambias. Just one capital “L”, like you’ve written in the title (but not in the article).

And Belfast’s right about the players we need to bring in… A big leftback, then some genuine competition for our first-choice defenders!

Belfast is spot on with the new players we need but I still expect the likes of Smith, Perch, and another? to be shipped out to compensate for the new comers!

Did we loan out ranger to the Dutch side or was it just a rumor as I prefer we keep this young boy as he will come good; I’m convinced…..

Catch 22 – I like all fans have been crying out to hear the thoughts of either Big Mike or Dekka, however when I do I’m always left underwelmed and leave with the feeling of being lied to.

Yes they can’t win with me I’m afraid, they either say nothing and I give them pelters or speak and I call them lier’s.
Suppose they made that bed though!

why dont we offload shola and lovenkrands ( who are utter sh1te ), free up a bit more cash to sign a decent striker. Apparently on ssn we could be in for bellamy and bridge from man city

I can’t believe ameobi played yesterday,I would have prefered ranger to him but I think vukic would have been the best.the only reason we weren’t slaughtered yesterday was that wenger played a weakened team as they play in the champions league on tuesday, that and they didn’t play well in the final third of the pitch.I don’t think our two backs are good enough and also when we don’t have the ball we don’t get tight enough to try and get it back.and as for lambiars isn’t he one of the two with forked tongues.

Can’t believe Shola stayed on the field when Obertan came on and showed more in 10 mins than Shola showed the whole first half.
The other thing is, why give Shola a contract extension? that means he’s gonna be part of future team plans and he just aint good enough. He’s been around so long and achieved so little.
I love his attitude and commitment to the Toon but that’s not enough.

Short Memory Ameobi…slagging Shearer off? Hang your head in shame, surely you can make a valid point without resorting to slagging off our greatest ever player. I agree he should not resort to making comments about Joey personal, but come on fella, that was low!

ba looks like heskey but without the workrate, and shola well just does not warrant the extra 2 years , a terrible striking performance by those two, shows the club needs TWO good strikers not just waffle about maybe bidding for 1. these two look like theyre running through a swamp

    shear-class says:
“We Dont just need 1 striker its 2 shola is absolute rubbish,Lovenkrands is championship material, and best mediocre to say the least”
    and

    pinkorbrown says:

“why dont we offload shola and lovenkrands ( who are utter sh1te ), free up a bit more cash to sign a decent striker.”

It does seem odd that a club so desperately keen to reduce alleged inflated wages from the payroll are prepared to have not one but three under performing strikers on the books ?

Yes we need strikers but even with Shola, Best or Lovenkrands on the bench can you honestly say that any of them fill you with confidence 🙁
