Newcastle Offer Pieters Four Year Deal – Pardew Confident Players Arriving

Alan Pardew was interviewed in today’s Sunday Sun, and he seems upbeat about the chances of having one and maybe even two new players in, before the Sunderland game next Saturday.

Erik Pieters – Newcastle left back against Sunderland?

It seems that Newcastle are indeed close to tying up Erik Pieters of PSV, and the latest news is that they held good talks with the player yesterday.

And if they have been allowed to talk to Erik, that means they have agreed a fee for the player with PSV, so that sounds very good, although there has also been news that a couple of other clubs are after the 23 year-old.

Do Sunderland need a new left back?

The news is that the club are trying to get the deal completed by Tuesday, and that would just be terrific news for Newcastle fans, and who knows, Erik may turn out to be better than Enrique, and he’s more than a couple of years younger than Jose.

This is what Alan Pardew told the Sunday Sun today:

“We’re confident we’ll have some new players here by next weekend.”

“I don’t want to talk about specific players, but I’m confident that by the time we play Sunderland I’ll have a left-back in place – and hopefully a striker.”

Certainly Alan Pardew seems positive, and with Derek Llambias also yesterday saying new players will be arriving soon, in his program notes for the Arsenal game, then hopefully we’ll see a couple of  players in soon.

If they turn out to be Erik Pieters and Hugo Rodallega, that would be good enough for me.

Howay The Lads!!

Good stuff, Pieters looks solid. Not a rampaging full back, but does his job, neat and tidy. Will give whoever is LW a bit of confidence to move around – exactly what Jonas didnt have with JE

rodalliega? we already have shola.. cmon rodaligas record is 1 goal in 4 matches.. same as bendner, BUT bendner is younger and he played 10 mins per mantch, while rodaliega spend way more time on the pitch.. we need a goalgeter, not just a number. hoping for sturridge..perhaps remy, but bendner over rodaliega anyday of the week for me.

Pieters seems a good buy and agree with drona about a striker, afterall we’ve only been looking for 7 months.

    Pieters = immense signing
Rodallega = garbage and no improvement.

I’m still clinging to the hope of Sturridge. Absent today for Chelsea, with no word on an injury. MA, please just realise, this one signing could transform our season, from top-half to Europa league!

Mystic Mike – Sturridge is suspended following a red card from last season, nothing strange about his absence. I’d be pleased with Pieters, but not Rodallega. He doesn’t add anything to the side.

Can’t see Torres and Sturridge playing well together. Can’t really see Sturridge fitting in with any of Chelsea’s strikers tbh.

I reckon Sturridge will happen but I think we’ll have to get used to having Shola and Ba for the unwashed.

The full back looks ok tho.

We arent getting Sturridge. It baffles my mind that people still think we will. Villa-Boas wants to keep him and has already rejected a loan move from Bolton.

Shearer9 – I’ll take his coaches comments and the fact he has 10 Dutch caps, at just 22, as a gauge of his credentials, not bitter fans grumblings.

Excited to see Holland first choice full back in our colors.. Pieters and a pacey striker will cap a good window.

But no Bendtner or ANY of similar striker we already have. We are not mobile or dynamic upfront. We are like having 2 tortoises upfront with Ba and Ameobi. We need movements. Rodallega moves. Get him in!

Rodallega could be a good buy, for the right price.

Have to say would start with Ba and Obertan upfront on Saturday. We looked flat and ineffectual at first and Obertan brought a little pace up front.

Wasnt Sturridge sent off in the last game of last season, hence he is at the start of a 3 match ban – thats why he aint in Chelski’s line-up?

Just seem to remember that was brought up on here when he was all the rage about 3 months ago.

I’d have him over any of the alternatives mentioned on here, in a flash. If FCB only splashes the cash for one player in the next 2 years – given the money we have available (Over £40 mill and counting) I would buy Sturridge.

He fits in perfectly with what Pardwho is trying to achieve and is completely different to anyone we have. Get him in then let Smith, Loverboy, Bambi find new clubs. Taken those 3 off the wage bill will go a long way to paying Sturridge!!

Rodellega would be a great signing because….

He’s scored a lot of goals relative to the team he’s in

He gets a decent amount of assists

Long range shooting is good, especially useful if he’s playing in the hole

And most importantly, he’s amazing in the fantasy premier league online game, a most trusted source 😉 – consistently getting a stack of pts year in year out despite a really cheap value. On “value” he’s consistently top of the premiership strikers. That’ll do for me!
