Newcastle are hoping to make progress in the striker stakes this week, and the surprise news today is they have not yet given up on getting Mevlut Erdinc to Tyneside.
Erdinc – Newcastle still have hopes of getting this lad
Erdinc was a sub in PSG’s 1-1 draw at Rennes, when former Newcastle target Kevin Gameiro put PSG ahead in the 73rd minute, but then Jonathan Pitroipa equalized in the 88th minute, to deny PSG their first win of the season.
And Shane Long looked nifty against the Red Devils yesterday for West Brom, and scored a great opportunist goal too, and surely we should have already signed this 24 year-old for £4.5M?
Newcastle want to do something by tomorrow if at all possible, and maybe with Mevlut being a sub at PSG now, that may have changed his mind about wanting to leave the French club, but we shouldn’t press the lad too much, if he doesn’t want to come.
Nicklas Bendtener, Hugo Rodallega and even Peter Crouch are still said to be in the frame, but we’d be happy enough if either the Columbian International Rodallega or Erdinc, the Turkish International, arrive at Newcastle this week.
They both offer something different than we already have up front, and we think either player could do a good job at Newcastle.
To get one of them in this week would be great, and maybe they could get their first goal at Sunderland on Saturday?
Howay The Lads!!
