Newcastle Still Haven’t Given Up On Erdinc

Newcastle are hoping to make progress in the striker stakes this week, and the surprise news today is they have not yet given up on getting Mevlut Erdinc to Tyneside.

Erdinc – Newcastle still have hopes of getting this lad

Erdinc was a sub in PSG’s 1-1 draw at Rennes, when former Newcastle target Kevin Gameiro put PSG ahead in the 73rd minute, but then Jonathan Pitroipa equalized in the  88th minute, to deny PSG their first win of the season.

And Shane Long looked nifty against the Red Devils yesterday for West Brom, and scored a great opportunist goal too, and surely we should have already signed this 24 year-old for £4.5M?

Newcastle want to do something by tomorrow if at all possible, and maybe with Mevlut being a sub at PSG now, that may have changed his mind about wanting to leave the French club, but we shouldn’t press the lad too much, if he doesn’t want to come.

Nicklas Bendtener, Hugo Rodallega and even Peter Crouch are still said to be in the frame, but we’d be happy enough if either the Columbian International Rodallega or Erdinc, the Turkish International,  arrive at Newcastle this week.

They both offer something different than we already have up front, and we think either player could do a good job at Newcastle.

To get one of them in this week would be great, and maybe they could get their first goal at Sunderland on Saturday?

Howay The Lads!!

No proof that we haven’t given up. And he has turned up down personally. Modibo Maiga is our new forward.

I’m fed up of this story, the guy has said numerous times he doesn’t want to join us and wants to stay and fight for his place in the team.

I love how one report in a newspaper can make everyone think Maiga would be brilliant for us and that its definitely going to happen.

don’t know too much of maiga but had a good season last year along with the rest of the sochaux side. He plays alongside marvin martin and ryed boudebouz so i think to score that many it is likely he has good movement as they are the type to pick a defence splitting ball a la cabaye, barton, hba. Has anyone got a link to where he is saying he has met the players etc?

I know that Newcastle havnt given up on Erdinc ,I had the pleasure of spending my lunch with peter beardsley on friday and he informed everyone that was in his company, that this lad has agreed terms and the initial agreed fee with psg of 7million has been upped by the new Qatari owners so its a game of cat and mouse

@Nufc_Richy01 – Good post. Very simple and plain for all of us to see – we dont want someone who doesnt want to come. No use in forcing them. Look at Andy Carroll – Man does he look outta place. His hometown club needs a striker and he is lumping around Anfield looking particuliarly terrible and out of place. He must be raging. I think Rodallega would be fantastic buy. What age is he?

You trying to say Erding wants to come but PSG are scupporing the move?

If that’s the case, why doesn’t he hand in a transfer request?

Cant see how Crouch would improve anything about the team we already have.

Erdinc has said time and again he doesn’t want to leave PSG for TOON (silly man) so he aint the answer.

This striker is the critical piece in the jigsaw Pardwho is trying to complete. He has to be completely different to what we have (Tall, strong target men). We need a Bellamy type player; quick, agile, good in the box. Someone who can get the “knock-downs”, the “flick-ons” the rebounds but with enough skills to create his own space and opportunities as well.

I don’t know who he is, or where he is, but after Saturday’s display we desperately need him in the team, like yesterday. Seven months this has taken so far and its a long overdue signing!!

    Rodalegga is 26 mate.

I think he is a great player in a poor team and could do well for us, he also has the advantage that he is already seasoned to the EPL, these other lads are not, and we need someone to hit the ground running.

Let’s forget Erdic – we could be waiting for that deal till this time next year. A couple of sources mentioned Toivonen last week but it wasn’t widely reported. Of all the names linked with us, he’s the one I’d most like to see at SJP.

I can see us going in with the same same team against the Sh*te next Saturday. We need to get something there as they will be out for revenge after last season. My only word on the Barton fracas on Saturday what an idiot he is and he has compounded it by twiterring & going on the radio he is more bother than he’s worth.

@Shear-Class – Woah thats sounds interestingly positive from inside the club. I was very impressed with AP actually when he called MoTD to task with their negativity. Well said by him. I think with Peiters and Odenwengie/Rodallega – that sounds pretty good to me. Possibly above West Brom for 9th this year.

While its still early days, Maiga seems like our top target now. I just want to clarify something, Maiga is raw and has only played as an out and out striker for one season, 2010-2011. He finished the top scorer for Sochaux and one of the top in France. He is fast and strong, often played as a sole striker last season. Therefore the reason his record before last season is not so special is because he was a left winger before that.
Lets face it Pieters and Maiga are subject to Ashley stepping up our most likely signings. I personally think his signing will move us to a 4-3-3 side. Midfield of Barton, Tiote, Cabaye, Forward of Ben Arfa, Maiga, and Obertan. Obviously dependent on form.
