Pieters Valued At £6M And Wants £30K/week – Sign Him Up!

News today is that PSV Eindhoven want £6M for their Dutch International left-back Erik Pieters.

Erik Pieters – £6M and £30K/week – not bad at all

And the player’s wage demands are said to be around £30K/week, which is less that Jose Enrique’s £45K/week he was getting on Tyneside for four years, and of course we received £6M for Jose from Liverpool last week.

So sign Pieters up, and quickly too!

The Evening Chronicle is reporting today that talks with Newcastle and PSV Technical Director Marcel Brands are said to be  “ongoing”, but surely this would be an excellent deal for the Tyneside club.

Pieters played the full game for PSV over the weekend and attended his grandmother’s funeral yesterday, and he is expected to want to know what is happening with his potential move to Newcastle today from his club PSV.

Apparently Erik has made it abundantly clear he wants to be transferred to Newcastle,  and join up with his big pal, goalkeeper Tim Krul,  on Tyneside.

Let’s get this boy signed up as soon as possible.

Newcastle have also been linked today, in the Paris media, with a possible move for Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho, at around £8M.

Comments always welcome.

I’d sign him in a heartbeat, but I don’t need him at home. Newcastle on the other hand…

He is better than Cissokho, purely because he is a defender first and foremost.

Basically works out we get him for nothing by using the Jose money and save money on his wages, but then again, there’s the millions and millions it will cost in agents fee’s 🙁

a good solid back 4 is essential. If this guy is a solid defender i want him in. The more clean sheets the better!

If Pieters does sign would everyone play him against Sunderland?

I am weary of it because he wont of trained with the team and would have to hit the ground running….plus his gran just died so his frame of mind maybe a issue specially with the 12 sunderland fans jeering him

Aye fair one that but if he signs and doesnt play people will hit the roof haha

I would be pretty happy with Raylor keeping the LB spot for the match he was up against far tougher players against Arsenal and was impressive all things considered

I think Raylor had problems as we was up against a very quick player in Gervinho, can’t see anyone for ‘those lot’ causing him as many problems myself

I am unsure about Pieters v Sunderland! I am not being funny, but playing a team that play in the same strip as you have played in for ages. Then having a couple of days to get used to it! Bad example I know, but Titus was great for us v Mackems, and he had that horrible top on!

i’d still worry about raylor at lb for sunderland. He got caught out a few times and i think sessengon would be able to do it as well. If we sign him put him in. Also WWJBD he played for psv at the w/e so he’s probably in a decent frame of mind

Pieters would make us more solid defensively and in the air and provide a 4th centre back when needed.

Cissohko would be a more like for like with enrique a quick powerful maruading left back.

Lets continue the french theme i say.

This is How It Probably Stands he wants £30 a Week and we will only give £20k then they want £6 Million and we want to pay £4 million… he will probably come but they need to get a move on as if we get Cissokho ready to go then Pieters will be dead and burried and I for one don’t want another french player !!!

Lordy, I havent seen him play, and not sure how many have on this site, but if he’s better than Enrique I’d be surprised. Enrique was class, and a real loss to our attack on the left hand side. I hate Liverpool so much I was happy to see the Makems get a point off them! I’d be concerned about the mackems game personally. They looked v good ( but i only saw the second half ) , and that Korean (?) guy could be a very good signing.

Ah I didnt know he played for them this past weekend in all honesty. Though was it a home match?

I agree with JB though I dont see Sunderland being able to expose Raylors weaknesses specially when he has Colo helping to cover him and Gutti ahead of him

Dutch defenders have a well proven track record when it comes to adapting and commanding the back line, it’s really is nothing to think about.
And given his 10 caps and that he plays for one of the best teams in football AND wants out…
Come to think of it, why is he not already here 😛

Now we just need that feckin blistering pace up front!

    – Dutch international with 10 caps
    – Plays for one of the best teams in Holland
    – Wants out
    – Dutch have a proven trackrecord in the PL
    – Likely to adapt quickly
    – Seemingly on the cheap
    – Young

Why is he not already here again?
Now we just need that BLISTERING pace up top!

Munster mag – yeah Ji – Carr watched him when he scored 4 in 3 internationals over the summer, don’t know why we hesitated – part from the £2m signing fee I guess…

I don’t know the one to go for from Pieters or cissoko.. as long as someone does, hopefully the best one to form an understanding with Jonas.

I personaly would rather have a new striker ready for the Sunderland match. We were solid at the back against Arsenal but we were limp up front. Shola cant run, Ba is unfit and Best isnt trusted apparently (unsure as to why as he looked the most inpressive through preseason and first game)

The one thing that gets me up in the morning and makes me keep coming back for more NUFC news, is the belief that “atleast we arn’t having as rough a time as Arsenal”

    🙂
