The good news for Newcastle fans is that manager Alan Pardew has said there is still hope the club can sign a left back before Saturday’s noon time kick-off game with old enemy Sunderland.
Alan Pardew – player could come in before Sunderland game
We hope that’s the case, because then Newcastle fans will have a double celebration at 2:00 pm local time Saturday, a new left back and all 3 points against Sunderland.
The three left backs Newcastle are reported to be interested in are Erik Pieters of PSV, Aly Cissokho of Lyon and Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge, so either of those first two would be great.
Wayne Bridge would be okay but he would be a loan signing for the season, and an expensive one at that, and Erik Pieters or Aly Cissokho would be young classy players signed permanently.
This is what Alan Pardew said today about the left back talks:
“Everybody knows we need a left-back and it’s being made difficult, not by us, but by other clubs and we have to get over that.”
“It could be that something gets done before the game, but I don’t think I would include him even if it did because this game is a game you need to know about and you need to be prepared for.”
The difficulty with other clubs that Alan refers to, is likely that they are asking too much in transfer fees for Mike Ashley’s liking.
It would be too late to have any new player play against Sunderland, and it will be very interesting to see if Alan keeps with Ryan Taylor at left back, since he was playing way out of position.
Pardew can also bring in 20 year-old Shane Ferguson, whom Alan watched in the Reserves 5-0 win over Gateshead Reserves yesterday afternoon, and it will largely depend on how Shane played in that game.
And it’s good to see Newcastle and Gateshead working together to get that practice game arranged for yesterday, and we have to wonder which Newcastle youngster will have a loan spell at Gateshead soon?
Newcastle are also after a striker, and are linked with Modibo Maiga of Souchaux, who unfortunately has gone on strike at his French club, to try to get the move he wants to Newcastle United, but that could well backfire on him.
Pardew talked about Maiga today:
“There’s a lot of stuff coming out about him being on strike and we can’t condone that.”
“But in terms of us, we have put a bid in for the player and he is a player that we want to bring to the club.”
“That’s where that is and negotiations are still ongoing.”
If Newcastle sign Aly Cissokho and Maiga from their French clubs, they should get Chief Scout Graham Carr an apartment in Paris, so it’s convenient for him, as he scouts players in the French League.
Graham still lives in Northampton but has an apartment in Newcastle, as he comes up often to talk about players with Alan Pardew and Newcastle Secretary Lee Charnley, and certainly Graham is an important cog in the Newcastle wheel these days.
We may also see a French Cafe open up in the Bigg Market too.

Comment #46Thump : and bridge is like 31 years old? (plus high wages)
You don’t need to be a rocket science to tell that Figuereo is younger than Wayne Bridge

Comment #47Pardew is COMMUNICATING with us fans isn’t that what we all want. When Pardew speaks he trys his best at letting us know wtf is going on without getting into trouble by accidentally calling MA a tight bastard. I trust Pardew just not Ashley.
If anyone should complain it should be about that fat greedy bastard and get off Pardew’s back.
I prefer a muppet that talks to us instead of one that just nods and gets on with it and keeps leaving us in the dark in the process like Hughton kept doing.
Fans want communication but when we get it most complain.
This season it’s been negative everywhere I look and we are rapidly losing our proud status as The Best Fans in The World, I just don’t think we are anymore.
VERY SAD INDEED.
Let’s support the team AND the manager. If September comes and we still don’t have a LB and a ST THEN you can whine all you want but now, it’s boring, repetitive and childish.

Comment #49There’s only one kind of news real supporters want to hear & that’s good news. So lets cut the c..p & stop reporting things which might happen & just let us know when it has. e.g. Pieters or a.n.other suitable left back has signed, Mags sign super striker,Toon hammer Mackems. We now all know about FCB’s policy on wages & signings so Que sera sera! Just get behind the team & show these new signings what great supporters we are !

Comment #50JP…self-righteous shite from you again…..can’t you remember whining about Shola being “a cancer at this club”??? Funny that Patsy actually rates Strolla above the rest of the dross…maybe you should back our manager’s judgement?
The only cancer at the club is MA and his 1 man mission to firmly establish us in the footballing backwaters…that is why everyone is moaning when his puppet makes a statement!

Comment #51I’m really sick of hearing about N’Zogbia, the guy IS, has been, and will ALWAYS be SHITE. He was SHITE when he was here and I’m glad someone else over paid for him. Unfortunately we’re stuck with an owner that doesn’t care about the club or the fans, but like many others I can’t stop supporting the club I love and the players that wear the colors.

Comment #53It is an extremely frustrating time for us and the club, I like everyone else on this site would like to see new players and quickly, but i am also happy that we are not being held to ransom over transfers.
The fact is, we take for granted what we hear in the media (bar what ever is written in the Mail cause they just don’t have a clue).
We know nothing about what is happening behind the scenes beause thats the way Newcastle F C want’s it, but I guarantee you that Asley doesn’t want to see us relegated again and good things do come to those who wait.
I think our youth team could win on Sunday so if we haven’t got a decnt LB by then it isn’t gonna matter.

Comment #55i think this situation is an awkward one because i believe Pardew will get his left back in the next 7 days whethter hes a worldy or not i dont kno but i think retaining a chunk of the funds to cover injuries is shrewd + id say Vuckic should be given a start up front the lad has proved more than Ba or Ameobi snr this pre season but i believe we will get a striker in the last 5 days of the window as a lot of deals go through then and with increased movement someone will find themself wanting a move for regular football , (i personally wouldnt be shocked if we landed Erdinc Late this window)

Comment #56Itoons and Sincerely samuel not to mention Ed seem to be living in some form of mystical wonderland where the sun shines, fluffy bunnies hop and skip and milk and honey flows copiously all day long.
Unfortunately this is the real world fellas and Pardwho is at best a lying tosspot and at worst a part of the scheming, underhand and immoral management structure that thinks nothing of lying to anyone and everyone.
So get real people, nothing this bunch of clowns say can be reiled upon and certainly not “New players coming in soon” 🙁

Comment #57WHATS GOING ON WITH THE BOARD AND MIKE ASHLEY ? THE CLUB HAS GOT 50 MILLION TO SPEND AFTER THE SALE OF Routledge Jose Enrique KEVIN NOLAN AND THE SALE OF ANDY CARROL OK THE CLUB CAN KEEP 10 MILLION THE CLUB HAS JUST BROUGHT IN TWO PLAYERS FOR 8 MILLION AND THREE FREE TRANSFERS.SO THE FOOTBALL CLUB STILL NEEDS TO SPEND 32 MILLION.
AND WHY IS THE CLUB LOOKING LETTING ONE MORE OUR BEST PLAYERS GO IN DEFENCE.ALAN PAR DEW IS A YES MAN AS WELL HE DOES WHAT EVER THE BOARD AND MIKE ASHLEY TELLS HIM TO SAY ABOUT PLAYERS ALL THE AT THE TIME.
CUSS YOU KNOW ITS ALL LIES HE IS SAYING ABOUT THE PLAYERS LIKE NOLAN AND THE OTHER 1 GOOD PLAYER WE HAVE IN DEFENCE ABOUT IE THERE CONTRACTS WAGES ITS JUST A COVER UP MIKE ASHLEY CUSS WE THE FOOTBALL CLUB IS A SELLING AND MIKE ASHLEY IS BLEEEDING US FANS AND THE FOOTBALL CLUB OF PLAYERS DRY .
CUSS WE ARE TOTALLY TURNING INTO A SELLING CLUB LIKE THE TIMES HAS SAID.UNLESS THE MONEY IS NOT PUT BACK INTO THE CLUB THOUGH PLAYERS AND THE YOUTH SET UP MORE WE ARE NOT GOING DO VERY WELL THIS SESSION.
OR IN THE FUTURE THATS WHY I FEEL THE FOOTBALL CLUB NEEDS A TOTAL STRONG 22 SQUAD AND WE NEED 3 WORLD CLASS DEFENDERS 6 IF Jose Enrique GOES AND NOW HE HAS SELL Michael Williamson. WE NEED A WORLD CLASS STRIKER SELL SHOLA AMEOBI KEEP THE OTHER 3 AND LOAN RANGER OUT.
IF THE MONEY DOES GET SPENT WHAT I SAY I BY THE TIME THE TRANSFER WINDOW SHUTS ALL US REAL NEWCASTLE UTD FANS SHOULD GET MIKE ASHLEY OUT HOW YOU ASK THOUGH A FACEBOOK ACTION GROUP, DONT BUY ANY SESSION TICKETS OR TICKETS TO WATCH THEM PLAY.
DONT SPEND ANY MONEY THE FOOTBALL CLUB IE CLUB SHOP’ SHEARES BAR’ STADIUM TOURS ETC SPORTS DIRECT WEB SITES HIT HIM WERE IT HURTS THE POCKET REMEMBER HE IS A BUSINESS MAN.
LETS ALL UNITE ON THIS WE NEED AT LEAST HALF OF THE STADIUMS SUPPORT ON THIS ITS PEOPLE POWER REMEMBER THAT MOVE AS A TEAM NEVER MOVE ALONE. BUTS LETS SEE IF MIKE ASHLEY STICKS TO HIS WORD IN WHAT HE SAID AFTER THE CLUB SOLD ANDY CARROLL AND THE MONEY TO SIGN NEW PLAYERS BUT LETS WENT AND SEE.
AT THE END OF THIS TRANSFER WINDOW ? 11 DAYS AND COUNTING.
