Newcastle Interested In Italian International Full-Back

Inter Milan’s 21 year-old full-back Davide Santon seems to be interesting Newcastle.

Davide Santon – 21 year-old Italian International

There are reports coming out of Italy that Newcastle may try to sign the 6’2″ full-back, who can play in either full-back position.

The youngster has played 7 times for Italy, and all the Italian Youth sides, and 12 times for the Italy U21 side, and he has been at Inter since he was 16 years-old,  and has played 51 times for the Milan giants.

He joined Ravenna Calcio, based in  Calcio,  when he was he was a 10 year-old and the full-back has spent the last six months on loan at Cesena, where he played 11 times.

The youngster was at one time considered to be the natural successor to the great Paolo Maldini, but things have not gone well for the lad this year.

This player looks very good, and the reports suggest he is interested in joining Newcastle, although Roma and Schalke 04 are also said to be interested.

We have no idea whether these reports out of  Italy are accurate.

What do you think?

I think he would be great!
he is young and skilful, good at freekicks and likes to join in attacks! =)
The only problem seems to be Mike Ashley paying any of the 35 million pounds =D

Sorry why … lol … it happened at the same time Cattermole finnally got booked. Bardswell & Joey both got booked at that point. I guess it had to be mouthing off/swearing?

Another opponent sent off due to Joey … give him a new contract … bloody fools.

I thought Pards got the team and tactics spot on today! He gets enough bad press – well done on first away derby win.

If we can keep ben arfa fit and sign a decent LB and a quality striker we’re gonna do well this season.

Collo is a warrior now like! Solid.

Santon natural position (he play in Primcavera ) is right back, but in Inter he plays all the game on left back because there are Maicon…

we could do with a classy right back too, simpson’s final ball is very poor.

It would be nice to have a transfer that just goes smoothly. They set a price, we accept it, he’s agrees terms, passes a medical and plays against Scunthorpe/Fulham. No “we won’t pay that” or “we won’t sell him” or anything. Just a nice, straightforward sale.

Rotonda actually i think that there are few good full-backs and simpson is not too much bad..Following the SERIE A and
having regard to our financial condition advise Grygera from Juventus. They want sell him free…

    Marco,

I mean that if Santon is versatile, he could play right back as well. How old is Grygera?

1st time I’ve left a post, just joined. but this story isn’t totally out of the blue. I think it was the sun that had us linked with santon beginning of last week, would be a great signing all the same tho

Cissokho is by far the best LB we have a chance of signing. I remember seeing him play for Porto a few yrs back against Man Utd and he looked quality. We need to replace the quality we had with a top LB plus he has the sell on value that Ashley is so keen on. Pieters doesnt really stand out and in Dutch football thats a worry, Santon I have seen a few times and while I would have him over Pieters, Cissokho is much better and more suited to the Prem. He is hugely strong, very fast and a very composed player. He would be a brilliant signing, if we could get Santon on loan for Right Back then great, but its Ashley we are talking about.

MY MAIN CONCERN NOW AS R.TAYLOR PLAYED OK AND SCORED TODAY, ASHELY MAY SAY TO PARDEW WHY DO WE NEED A LB WHEN WE HAVE HIM……HONESTLY WOULD ANY OF YOU BE SURPRISED.

    GREAT RESULT TODAY THOUGH.

Would be a great buy for the future, but the best would be a one year loan with option to buy.
