One good thing about the win today at Sunderland, is that it should help Alan Pardew persuade the powers that be at the club, to pay out the money to bring in some new players next week.

Newcastle won 1-0 at Sunderland, with a great Ryan Taylor free kick after 62 minutes.
But Seb Larsson should have been sent off after just 15 minutes and Newcastle awarded a penalty, when the Swede handled the ball on the line.
An upbeat Alan Pardew also gave an update on new signings, and said the win will help him get new players in this coming week:
“A victory like today helps me with Managing Director Derek Llambias and Mike to go upstairs and say, ‘Come on, let’s try to get them in this week’.
“We want to get the right players and we want to get the best value we can, and we are trying to do that.
“The group I have got is sound.” “They are aware to balance us up, we perhaps need a left-back in the building and we need a striker in, and that’s what we are going to try to do.”
We thought last weekend that it was almost a certainty Newcastle would have signed PSV’s Erik Pieters last week.
But it now seems he’s too expensive for the club, so we’ll just have t wait and see if Newcastle make progress in the last 11 days of this transfer window.
We are not holding our breath for any early signings next week, but there’s still ample time left in the window.
Newcastle need a new striker and a top left back – at the very least – before September rolls around.
