Newcastle’s Argentine Pair Tops In Derby Win

Fabricio Coloccini, the new Newcastle captain, had another great game at the back for Newcastle on Saturday, against the old enemy, Sunderland.

GGGGGOOOOAAAALLLL – Coloccini raises hands in celebration

And you cannot ask for more than that from your captain in such an important game, and for the second week running the Argentine center-back was our Man of the Match with 28% of the vote.

And his Argentine team-mate Jonas Gutierrez came in second with 21%, after having a terrific second half that propelled Newcastle back into the game and to ultimate victory.

And it was a foul on Gutierrez that presented Ryan Taylor with the free kick out on the left wing,  which he so expertly dispatched for Newcastle’s goal, and which put him into the annals of  Newcastle history.

And who else but Ryan Taylor, the hero on the day, who came in third with 13% of the vote.

Here are the results of our poll, and it’s still open if you haven’t yet voted.

Haha, unfortunately Ed, that photo is of Collo and Bartojn appealing for handball against Larsson, as opposed to ‘Goooooooal’!

    Yep, Collo deserves his MOM

Wouldnt have been upset if Ryan Taylor got it tho. He played in an unfamiliar position, grafted for the full game putting in a good shift and then, to cap it all – bangs in the only goal!!

Yeah I was gonna say Ed I think that’s Collo screaming at Mackem sympathiser Howard Webb for allowing Larsson to play basketball

Think once they settle together Tiote and Cabaye will be a great partnership, hopefully they will be the platform to allow Ben Arfa to play from, also think Jonas will start to excel, his workrate is second to none and commits defenders time after time.
And in defence, do we really need to worry that much when El Capitan is in there? Fu$*ing immense.

I think Gyan is appealing for handball too.

Spiderman was terrific. His workrate is unbelievable,I think Marveux will have a hard job trying to take his place as he is so far behind fitness-wise.Spidey is also invaluable considering the fact that we dont have a recognized LB because he works just as hard tracking back as he does attacking

I may get shot down for this – but personally I think we are seeing better performances from Jonas because he is playing in front of a defender who is just defending. Rather than JE caning past him on the overlap every time, that was forcing Jonas to step in and feed him on the outside.
It is for that reason I would prefer Pieters as the incoming LB specialist. More solid at the back and lets the LW play his natural game.

There is a lesson to be learnt here for Newcastle fans many of whom want instant success and instant action from the club particularly in transfer dealings.

Colo and Jonas were heavily criticized when they were bought by Wize and especially as Ashley said that Colo was the ‘wow’ signing. Many fans also wanted Enrique out as he looked useless and completely overwhelmed by the premiership.

    How times have changed.

We may not see the best of the new recruits this season as it takes time to adapt to a new club, new methods and a new country.

This time perhaps the fans can bear that in mind.

    Breaking News:
Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss is set to join Dynamo Kiev in a deal worth around £4million in the next 24 hours

Wouldnt have minded sticking a cheeky bid in for him like.

I doubt that will happen though :/ people just see a few bad performance and think “hes shit get him out the team”. Its scary to think how bad Enrique and Colo were in their first seasons and now look where they are.

Kranjcar is availble as well as 6 other Spuds players apparently.
i would love to see him at Newcastle, simply for the fact that he’s a creative player who can unlock teams. For all our midfielders they’re mostly work horses or tacklers. Kranjcar is a Ben Arfa type player and could be invaluable.
Imagine Barton, Cabaye and tiote with Ben arfa, Kranjcar and a centre forward playing in the same side?

Jonas probably will be playing for his place. Barton, Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa are all 100% certain to start when fit. Which leaves LM as the only place up for grabs. Marveaux is better IMO but i havent seen him play much so dont take my word for it.

With Marveaux on the field we have 4 free kick specialists in Raylor, Cabaye, Barton and Marv 🙂

id like to see Jonas playing in from of Pieters, he showed some attacking flair against the unwashed and at times defenders just look plain scared when he runs at them. Given the chance to play in front or a defencive LB he will flurish. Cabay looks class (2 games in and most successful challenges it the first and most key passes in the second, WITHIN THE WHOLE LEAGUE)

Do we really need a striker when we have sholla? (Joke)
Not sure about the frnch kid where linked with but in Carr we trust

Agree Brutoon – we have a massivly hard working team at the mo and Doyle would fit in perfect. Hes not the flair player a lot of guys would like to see but he keeps the ball and never stops, I would welcome him no problem

Colo and Jonas were our stand out performers. Also a special mention to Krul who I think looks better every week!

Im a little worried about Obertan, looked average to me, no better than Routledge. What does anyone else think?

I had a go at Jonas last week, and ive come on to eat my words!

he played amazing in the second half, ran the right side of the mackems defence ragged and won valuable free kicks and wound them up by skinning them.

i still think his end product could be alot better but his work rate is invaluable and his teamwork and his hunger to win make him a important player. Marveaux’s goin to have to work hard to nick his place

Seriously, why is every adding links of certain players going to other teams and certain players being available! we dont need anymore f*@kin midfielders, no to Weiss, no to Kranjcar, everyone forgets that we have fergie and Vuckic pushing for the first team! Get Pieters in and a decent Striker and we will be top 10 this season
