Sochaux have referred Newcastle’s apparently illegal pursuit of Modibo Maiga to FIFA.
Sochaux President Alexandre Lacombe reported Newcastle to FIFA
And Charlton Athletic have reported Newcastle to the Premier League over their move for 25 year-old goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
To make things just a little worse, Newcastle were fined £30K by the English FA today, for failing to keep their players under control against Arsenal on the opening day of the season, and the London club were fined the same amount.
Alan was asked about the Souchaux complaint and the manager had this to say this afternoon, during his press conference for the Scunthorpe game:
“I can’t tell you anything about that,” “My brief is to highlight players I think would take the club forward, and the club’s job is to get it over the line. I am not involved in that.”
Sochaux issued this statement on their web-site today:
On Monday August 22, 2011, FC Sochaux-Montbeliard sent a referral to FIFA with the aim of obtaining assurances on the part of Newcastle United that they will stop their contacts with Modibo Maiga, who is under contract with FCSM until 2014.
This contact is in violation of Article 18 of the current international regulations. This measure comes after Sochaux demanded without success, in an official manner and on two occasions, that the English club put a stop to their actions.
That would seem to put an end to Newcastle’s move for Maiga, and we have no idea who the club will now go after, but we need a top striker in the next eight days, and the club have known that for months now.
And the FA issued this statement on their web-site today relating to that melee in the second half of the Newcastle-Arsenal game on 13th August:
An Independent Regulatory Commission today found both Newcastle United and Arsenal guilty of failing to control their players.
The charges relate to an incident during their recent league fixture at St James’ Park on Saturday 13 August 2011.
Both clubs denied the charge and requested a non-personal hearing. In each case, the charge was proven by the Regulatory Commission and both clubs have been fined £30,000.
So on the transfer front and for that first game of the season, and in the search for a third goalkeeper, it has been a difficult time for the Newcastle club.
It looks like the lads will now have to beat both Scunthorpe and Fulham in the next two games, to brighten things up a little, and they could well do that too.
But the Magpies must also sign up two top players soon, and we’re not sure why we need a third goalkeeper.
But at least it would appear Alan Pardew is still hopeful:
“You need to have some sort of strategic planning about what you are doing and some sort or game plan, and hopefully we are going to call that right.”
“But you can get something out of the woodwork which throws it into disarray and you need Plan B and then you need Plan C. We are hoping we stick to Plan A, but we will see.”
The difficulty with signing players this summer seems to have been Newcastle’s stubborn reluctance to pay out the transfer fees for their targeted players.
And Newcastle have paid out only £7.5M for the five players they have brought in so far this summer, but they need somehow to get a top striker and a top left back in quickly.
And maybe owner Mike Ashley may just have to spend some of that money that’s still in the bank from the Andy Carroll sale last January.
We hope he does just that, but there’s just over a week left in the transfer window to do it.
Comments always welcome.

Lol, so THATS why he’s been playing LB 😉
Well, he’s done great in pre season and the latest matches in that position. Scoring goals even.
Might be our backup next season… I like the lad, think he can become a big player for us. Even better if he learns the LB and LW trade.

Comment #54Anyone else think how ridiculous it is that we’ve been fined?
It was hardly a 22 man brawl haha. If anything we were wronged, seeing as Schezny (spelling fail) ran the length of the pitch to get involved…

Comment #55“There are one or two big moves which could happen – I don’t think they are going to happen last minute because the other clubs will want to do some business too. But of course by our own example [with Carroll], it can happen. We would like to do our business before then, but if it goes to that time, that’s the time it will go to.”
Come on……..sick of the saga now…..

Comment #59Evening men. Did i just read mackems are playing sess up top by himself? Basically a 4-6-0 then no? Bruce is losing the plot. Spend big money on whickham and throw him on for 20 minutes with 3 other strikers then not give him a chance. I’d usually not be bothered but he is a young english talent and i would like to see him do well. Just not against us haha

Ye, i don’t get it, why even bother, £30.000, MA wipes his nose with that every day, completely pointless. It’s a joke.
There was Barton and Gervinho going at it, the rest, Saylor was trying to break them apart and nothing else happened.
The FA is the joke in this case imo.
Now get us those players Pards, so we can go about and support our team this season, without the constant grasping for straws.

Yeah I know, unbelievable. How exactly was anyone but Barton & Gervinho’s forehead out of control?
I wonder whether it was Taylor, desperately trying to keep them apart, that was the problem? Or was it Simpson, calmly talking to the Arsenal players?

Seems strange to risk their cup chances, seeing as earlier today he was “looking to Wembley” aha.
Maybe he’s gone mad. First Wenger, the Bruce. Pardew must be due a breakdown soon.

Comment #65BREAKING NEWS: Pardew releases statement following confirmation of FA fine for £30,000 “Due to the events that occurred during the Newcastle vs. Arsenal game, Newcastle have been fined £30,000 for failing to control their players. Because of the actions of Joey Barton we have been fined, and therefore he has been released from his contract with immediate effect. Furthermore the resultant fine has made it impossible to afford a LB or ST and so our transfer business for the summer comes to an end. Id like to thank the fans for continuing to be mugs, and hope they further appeciate that releasing players on high wages and not replacing them allows me to continue to build my extensive property portfolio in the Caribbean. Yours til im sacked, Alan Puppet.”

Comment #66All the abuse aimed at Pardew is, in my opinion, ridiculous. I understand frustration, but just because MA & DL don’t show their faces doesn’t mean you have to blame Pardew…
Anyone that actually thinks Pardew doesn’t want us to succeed needs to ask themselves why…

Pardew is no puppet, i think he has proven that very much lately.
As he said in todays pre match conference (which i saw on NUFCTV) he said he does NOT handle the transfer negotiations. He paints the target and then someone else goes out and gets them.
Pardew is a man on a incentiviced contract who is trying to do the best he can with what he has. He has not been a manager for long, and does not have “vast” ammounts of experience.
He sometimes promises what he cannot hold.
Obviously we’re working with a certain system so he does not go into transfer negotiations. Once he tells them who he wants, they go try to get them for the best deal possible.
Thereby, it’s out of his hands.
It’s not hard to understand, but Pardew is no puppet, he works within a system which has its pros and cons.
The biggest flaw probably being Llambas imo.
Pardew tries to please the fans by sometimes promises, he cannot keep. He shouldn’t have done that, but then again, if he handled the negotioations himself, we might have had the players we wanted.

Comment #75I dont hate Pardew, I just dislike how predictable he always is in backing MA and DL and all the promises he has made when he hasnt backed them up. Many will say thats MA and DL fault, maybe so but for all the times Pardew talks up his ability and experience he doesnt seem to learn from his mistakes does he. Pardew has been brought in over Hughton to manage the people/fans not just the club, Hughton was very honest and knew he had little influence so never promised things that he knew were not gonna happen. Pardew is told what to say and what to do, how many times has he had to go back on his word when MA isnt there to write the script. Ill support the club til I die, but it doesnt mean I have to like all the staff the come through the gates.

Pardew is told what to say!? U actually mean he memories a script checked by MA and Llambas before every interview he does?
Are u serious?!
The only thing the man is doing wrong is make promises he cannot keep. Hughton was better than AP at that part.
But seriously, “he’s told what to say”??
Gratz, i’m speechless. And thats saying something.
