New French signing Sylvain Marveaux should get a start on Thursday night at Scunthorpe, in the Carling Cup second round.
Sylvain Marveaux – should get start on Thursday night and make his debut
Newcastle have an important league game on Sunday at home to Fulham (yes, we know they are all important), and Alan will want to play a strong side in that game to get the win.
If Wolves can beat Fulham 2-0 at their place, which they did on Sunday, then surely Newcastle can get a second successive win on Sunday afternoon?
Any player who gets a chance on Thursday night and does well, will be in line either to start against Fulham or get a run-out from the bench in the second half.
Sylvain has had a muscle strain and has not played in Newcastle’s first two games, but he had an impressive outing last week in the Newcastle second string side, which beat Gateshead Reserves 5-0 behind closed doors at Benton.
We’ll take a stab at the side that Pardew could turn out at Scunthorpe on Thursday night:
Simpson Taylor(S) (c) Williamson Ferguson
Taylor (R) Vuckic Gosling Marveaux
That’s not too bad a side, and only the two Taylors and Danny Simpson retain their places from the great win at Sunderland.
We’re not sure if Alan Pardew will make that many changes, but that side should be good enough to beat Scunthorpe – we hope.
What do you think, and what’s your team for Thursday evening?
