Joey Barton Having Medical At QPR

6:37 pm, Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 526 Comments

It seems that Joey Barton, as we had expected earlier today, is leaving Newcastle.

Joey Barton - bye bye Newcastle

He has just tweeted that he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle,  but with not being offered a new contract his hands are tied.

This is what Joey said on his twitter account a few moments ago.

Don’t want to leave Newcastle……..I’ve made that clear but my hands are tied.

Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC……. think that just about makes my mind up.

Joey was always in a  difficult position with just one year left on his Newcastle contract, as he wants to get some security for his future in football.

When we heard the news this morning that he was speaking to the London club, it seemed that he would be offered a decent contract by them since they have money to spend, and if that happened, Joey would have little choice but to accept it.

It seems that both West Ham and Stoke City tried to get Joey today too, but we expect the contract Joey was offered by QPR to be one he could hardly turn down.

In his tweets he’s making it clear he has had no contract offer from the Newcastle club, and he seems to be even hinting he would like one.

We would have loved for Joey to stay for this season, because he is a proven Premier League class player, but it was not to be.

Unfortunately, that means that of the five players Alan Pardew  wanted to have Newcastle sign on long term contracts in mid-January, only one remains at the club – Cheick Tiote.

Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique and Joey have all left, assuming Joey passes the medical tonight and signs the contract. Those are four of Newcastle’s  very best players of the last two seasons.

It will be very interesting to see if  Newcastle replace Joey Barton in the one week left in the transfer window.

Comments welcome.

Well they can’t bleat on about what they have spent now including wages, we must be £50 million up on these deals this year. Including wages of course you fat twat!

  • 2 Thump // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:40 PM

Ashley must be holding him at gunpoint to sign the contract, obviously.

Why after 2 games? false pretences just like Enrique.

  • 7 Robby Bobson // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:43 PM

This is ashleys grudge and should put money into the club to compensate loosing a player with a substantial market value for nothing just because he doesnt like him.

But we all know that wont happen….cant even replace a player we recieved 35 million pounds for.

  • 8 drongo // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:43 PM

moved from previous article as more relevant here:

Sad sad day if JB signs for mincers park

Firstly because we lose a player who never gives up and can push a team forwards.

Secondly because by signing a contract with QPR hes showing just marginally more ambition than Nolan, and I thought he was better than that.

If JB stayed he would still be on a free next summer, mincers park would prob go down, and his mates at Jazz Mag FC would probably have been promoted and he could go there with his head held high all round.

  • 9 davybtoon // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:44 PM

kevin nolan to west ham joey barton to QPR lets not get carried away barton has had one good season in 4, we hav better players already

Nothing he could do! Joey Joey, you should of accepted the 1st contract offer instead of being greedy!, you don’t want to leave you say but you don’t sign a new contract then disrupt the entire Newcastle City & club “be real”.

  • 17 Robby Bobson // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:47 PM

Although i would have been more distraught if this happened 2 games ago.

Would have thought his desire would be invaluable but Cabaye ran more than any other player in the derby and looks like a little battler, so seems we will still have the character to our side.

  • 18 Tiote4PM // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:47 PM

Hope there is a riot on Sunday and SOMEONE gives it to Pardew and Ashley…

Against Arsenal and Sunderland 0 points without Barton.

I think the lad is a prick, but he gets the team playing.

Cannot replace fight and passion with anything but fight and passion. JB has it all passion, ability and skill,

  • 19 Thump // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:48 PM

@Tiote4PM: He also has Twitter and a self appointed entitlement to discuss private matters in a public forum.

@ Thump – agree – am gutted in equal measures about losing the player – and the player spinning lines.

And before anyone asks would I leave one employer for another over money – no. During the recession I all bar one of my colleagues took voluntary pay cuts to stay where we were.

THE REASON NO TOP TEAM BOUGHT BARTON ISNT FOOTBALL RELATED.. BARTON IS ONE OF THE BEST ENGLISH MIDFIELDERS BAR GERRARD LAMPARD AND WHILSHERE.

WE WILL PLAY LIKE ARSENAL (GRITLESS) JUST WITHOUT THE ABILITY OF THEIR PLAYERS.. WE WILL FINISH 12-15 I GUESS WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CLUB LIKE NEWCASTLE

we got promoted 1 year ago 12th is hardly a disaster considering where totally rebuilding club

  • 35 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:55 PM

Its pretty obvious that Pardew wants Barton in the club. Because Barton is a very good player with his grit and fiery spirit. He was the reason for our 4-4 comeback. His steely determination. We are going to miss all that.

As much as Pardew likes Barton and wants him to stay, Fat Cashley calls the shot and wants Barton out. Simple.

  • 36 colwell // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:55 PM

I tend too agree that we are building a better team my only problem is, is that our team is getting smaller and smaller.

Last year we had Smith,Guthrie playing this year we have Shola and Raylor starting our squad was small last year now its ridiculous.

Barton might not fit the new plan of flair and pace but he was a quality squad player of which we have very few.

Barton must be replaced as well as our other well documented positions and we will be good this season if not we have`nt the depth to cope and well things will be bad mid-season etc.

  • 37 israeli_fan // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:55 PM

and davybtoon- how do you know cabaye will be better than nolan? nolan scored last year more than any other midfielder in the league.. if cabaye will score 6 we will be delighted…

about gosling- he looked great in pre season.. but to suggest he is gonna be better this year than barton is just crazy

  • 38 Lee Dodd // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:56 PM

I think We will Probably Hear Mike Ashley has said get shot of Joey then he will pay the wages for a new striker and a left back £30 grand a week each !!! I want Joey to stay with us but I think deep down we know that wont happen !!! who will be next out the door by next wednesday ?? Coloccini ?? Tiote ???

  • 39 RobLee // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:56 PM

Sorry about last post my keyboard isnt working properly, the most annoying thing about this transfer is that he wants to stay and will take a pay cut, exactly the player we want and a playere who is worth millions but we are giving him away, its rediciolas what happened to this great club.

  • 41 Tiote4PM // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:57 PM

Just gutted to lose another leader. We are running out of these having lost 3 already.

We will probably be okay without Barton – just wish the club where not lying, scumbag, cheats…

I would love to punch Ashley…. or even one of his kids..

  • 42 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:58 PM

to be honest if it wasn’t for Barton there would be no 4-4 comeback. there is no one with the fiery fighting nature to drive our club now. sad day. but i hope Gosling steps up now and fills the void.

I wont be surprise if Tiote is the next out of the door. We are clearly being dismantled and rebuilded. But its a gamble. There is no guarantee we are a better team now.

  • 43 Marzy // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:58 PM

Il be honest I can’t stand Barton as a person or a role model, but I liked him on the pitch the last 2 years & would of rather kept him in the squad until at least his contract ran out, but hey ho!, he looks like he is going so I agree with many comments on here saying he only gave 1 or 2 years good service, more trouble then he was worth & more recent comments suggesting why a top 6 or even top 10 team have not touched him. ” I think thats more to do with his chracter rather than his ability”

  • 44 Spike // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:58 PM

Joey Barton brought this situation on himself. If he’d have kept his gob shut in the press, and his fingers off his tw@tter keyboard he could have maybe done something about it in private behind the scenes.

He has made the club look stupid, and I thought he was going to stay just to pi$$ Ashley off having to pay him for the next year.

All this stuff a few weeks ago about only leaving for a Champions League club seemed fair enough.

Saying that, when he did play (aside from injuries and jail) he made the team better.

What’s the betting he scores against us in 10 days time?

  • 45 davybtoon // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:59 PM

israeli – barton n nolan r good players but u cant deny barton has give us one good season least year, n if there as good as ppl r saying why havent a top10 prem club got them

  • 46 aDeadlyTicTac // Aug 24, 2011 at 6:59 PM

Wow… you guys are so delusional it’s unreal.
He has passion on the pitch for NUFC, that’s the ONLY thing you can give him credit for.

He could have signed a contract, OR, he can stay with us for this last season. Who is forcing him to leave for QPR? Has someone got a gun to his head? He can go if he wants, he can stay, but he’s choosing not to. I for one don’t care.

Why? Look at our midfield. It creates more oppurtunities for players than before. Obertan, Gosling, Vuckic. I for one am indifferent about Barton leaving.

    Setpieces = Cabaye > Barton.

I’d take Cabaye over Barton for the center mid position any day. Also I want to see more of Obertan out on the right wing. I think Barton leaving is more a blessing in disguise than anything else…

  • 47 WWJBD // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM

    davy
If Cabaye and Gosling are so good why are they stuck with us and not a top 10 club? Same difference surely

  • 48 Lee Dodd // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:01 PM

Why cant Lambias and Ashley just talk to the fans ???? We are sick of Puppet Pardew !!!!

  • 49 moonraker // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:01 PM

If we get 2 players in that we are supposedly chasing, I’m happy cos Barton’s a pr*ck and always will be.

If we don’t get the 2 players in, I’m concerned. In fact I’ll be really concerned that they dont really know what they’re doing and we could be heading for trouble.

At the end of the day you cant really argue with the outgoings; but the lack of in’s is the problem and they have the money to sort it.

If they dont spend some of the money there is definitely a separate agenda! I will reserve judgement !!

  • 51 drongo // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:02 PM

@ roblee – No one put him on that train with a gun to his head, same as no one made Carrol get into that helicopter. If Joey wanted to stay he was still employed by the club for another season – he is swapping 50 odd thousand weekly for a tin pot stadium that barely seats 13000. Simply because they will offer a 5 year deal now on 65k

Lets say he is on 65k with us already, so he could in theory stay for this year, on the same money – still go somewhere on a free next year, and maybe get a 4 year deal – whats the difference??
He also has a chance to continue to demonstrate why he is worth a contract with NUFC.

I suppose we wont have to wait long to definitively answer the question of who is better Cabaye or Barton, they’ll be head to head on 12th Jan

  • 52 Riska // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:04 PM

  • 56 alkinou // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:05 PM

    @aDeadlyTicTac

He was often one of our best players on the pitch that can’t be denied. Also he wasn’t offered any contract so how could he sign one. As for staying one more season with us, it’s not an easy thing to do because at the end of the year he’s got no more job. If you’re working in a company and they say that you have one year left there and an other one proposes a long term contract you’ll definitely go even if you prefer the first one. And Joey Barton has made it clear previously that he wanted a clear future because he has his family to take care of.

So no, he didn’t choose to go, Newcastle pushed him out!

If any of the top 10 teams came in for Cabaye with then he would of gone to them. Same with Gosling but they didnt and they settled for us

We arent that big of a draw lad face it, we are well reported as being very poorly managed and unable to offer top wages. We cant live off our history forever

  • 64 aDeadlyTicTac // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:09 PM

alkinou. If I remember correctly he was offered a contract, refused, then his outbreaks on Twitter started and they refused to offer him a new contract past that.

He was often a great player for us, but you guys are missing the point. You guys are saying why are we with Obertan , Cabaye and Gosling, and why they aren’t playing with a Top 10 team? Barton is going to QPR. A team looking to JUST survive this season. Why did he not go to a top 10 team? Yeah, exactly.

Now it’s time for some players to step it up a level to replace Joey, and I for one am excited for that.

More players waiting in the wings with the potential to be even better.

Joey’s tweets are pure lies, even his agent has confirmed there was a contract offered. They man said so on Talksport ffs. Joey is the liar here, not NUFC.

The man is a good player, but we have other good players waiting in the wings to prove themselfes. It’s not the end of the world, nor will it result in relegation dogfight.

drongo, What ever you do for a living if you knew the boss hated you and wanted to get rid of you and only had a year earning what you are in at the minute would you stay and lose an unwinable battle or would you move on where your job is more secure, football is his job just like any other just earning a lot more, you no he didnt move for the money he still wants a contract here and would accept a lower one, not many players would do that, Im not a major Barton fan but I do like that about him, I can’t belive you acctually think ashley will give him another contract after whats happened so in a logical point of view i agree with him.

  • 78 scottoon // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:17 PM

Joey is a talent on the pitch. He gives all he has, and when he sticks to football he is a leader by example. He is also a borderline lunatic. But such is the nature of a team…you are always going to have fringe personalities, and even some like Joey who are well beyond the fringe. Pardew did seem capable of managing Joey, more than Joey could manage himself. But when all is done and dusted, the thing that all the departed players take shots at is exactly what most of us on this blog take shots at…Fat Ash and Lamearse. So I can’t abide the talk of Judas, and lack of ambition and greedy and sod on….Joey, and Enrique, and Nolan, and Carroll are all very good players that we will certainly miss, and all have left because they did not fit the mold created by our FatA** owner.

I think we have a very decent squad, but I also know that the four players mentioned would be starters most days regardless of our acquisitions. And since 3 of the 4 have not been directly replaced, we would have room for them. Bottom line is I fear that the owners are creating a climate for yes men, and that our club will lose out on character.

  • 79 aDeadlyTicTac // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:19 PM

    Dannyo

I completely agree with you, but sometimes it isn’t worth arguing with people here y’know? they want a reason to get upset, it seems most of our fans thrive off depression.

I don’t see the problem with Barton leaving.
When Ben Arfa is back, I can see Obertan and HBA linking up REALLY well. The blistering pace HBA and Obertan have, and Guti has, we will be a force to be reckoned with. Even Cabaye has good pace. Guti, HBA, Obertan and with Ba up front, I can see that working amazingly well. Can’t any of you guys?

  • 83 boater // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:20 PM

Thump – granted davybtoon swarms around these posts like a demented happy fly but I expected more for you.

We are allowed to be critical of a player/s leaving aren’t we? Not least that it illustrates a trend within the club to turf out the steady eddies and replace with cheaper options.

Voicing dissatisfaction upon relegation – is a bit like wondering where you life raft is after the ice berg’s hit. It may sound pointless now, trust me it’s totally funking pointless then.

People on here twist things for their own agenda, now it’s barton bashing, last week jose, last month nolan, etc. apparently I’m negative for not accepting implicitly that unknown players will be future stars- or at least the equal of those departing.

Too many pesimistic fans. Can’t you guys just support your club for once? =/

    Right u are.
The only wrong thing Pardew has done is making promises he cannot keep. Chris was good at avoiding that, playing down speculation always, as Pardew has played them up, just by answering the questions simply.
It’s deluded to say anything else.
If it was up to me, Pardew should say “no comment” a bit more often.

All respect for Barton for what he has done, but I agree with what people have said about a better squad coming up lets run it this way.

Ba = He’s not been on form yet, but then when he’s had his injuries I think he will eventually step up. We need a striker soon would like it to be him.

Cabaye = Looks gutsy and hungry to start, he might seem slow at first but that shot and the one before the derby seemed like crackers. Looks promising. A suitible replacement for Barton

Abeid = Not seen much apart from his assists and the match at crew, seems decent.

Marveux = Hasn’t kicked a ball in a couple years but looked decent, will see what happens tomorrow.

Gosling = I know he’s not new but he’s been out the action for a while and looks like he desperately wants to make up for it at the derby he should of scores, can work attacking or on the right midfield.

Obertan = Pacy and flairy, would like to see more of him and hope he lives up to his hype.

Hatem Ben Arfa= Everton goal… nuff said. He will recover give him time a broken leg isn’t exactly something you can run off without getting a niggle after to begin with.

Then we got some decent youngsters coming through with Vuckic, Sammy (who looks like no messabout like Shola atm), Kazenga, Phil Airey, Kadar, Ferg

And members like Saylor, Raylor, Colo, Simmo, Tiote, Gutti, Best, all seemingly improving. I still have alot of faith in our squad. One man doesn’t make a team. We just need to build it up. With or without Barton.

Sorry for the rant just trying to be a bit optimistic.

@boater: I’m not sure you read anything I’ve said. There’s a yawning gulf of difference between being critical of a player (who in this instance very much deserves the fans wrath) and talking about how Barton’s leaving will be the loose string that will dismantle the team.

No matter how you analyse our players. There is no proof that we are a better team nor can we say we are worse. Only time will tell. Bottomline is, we need a left back and a new forward or we might struggle.

  • 99 Dannyo // Aug 24, 2011 at 7:28 PM

    @WWJBD

I think u’re right, currently, with the missing Striker and LB, we aren’t better than last year. But we’re not worse either tbh, apart from the fact that we don’t have an LB.
I think the Joey departure will speed that up a bit now tbh.
There’s almost a 50/50 split between those who wants Joey to stay and those who are Happy/fine to see him go.
Only new players in could change that tbh.
Our midfield is fine, we still just need that LB and Striker, then hopefully fix it some more in January/next summer.

A good footballer not a great one – inconsistent in form and in dead balls

I am not sad to see him go – he causes to many problems, but I thank him for fighting for the cause of NUFC – whatever he is you can’t deny his effort when on the pitch.

Barton is sadly a lot cleverer than many of our fans. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s been angling for it for ages with his never ending tweets. He now gets a huge signing on fee.

If he does to us what he did to city, he’ll make us pay a signing off fee as well. Barton does the badge kissing a treat but Joey has always looked after number 1.

Has anyone actually seen the audited accounts of NUFC. We’re still in debt. I think Ashley is an odious man, but he is a far better business man than any of us us.

When Barton moved centrally against the scum, it changed the game. He, along with Cabaye and Tiote, started breaking plays up and forced the scum into wider areas where Sessegnon was much less effective. Showed real grit and determination. Football is a team game and he wasnt even our top player in either games! Get ur head out the sand lads as said hes is a good player, i always said he would come goos, but he has had one good season in four. Anyone who states other wise is kidding only themselfs! As for barton leaving, would of liked him on the bench for next few years but thats about it. A liability the first two games this season (seemed to me he wanted to be sent off in both) I would prefer cheik and cabaye in middle with hba behind striker. Id prefer an actual winger with pace who can beat a man on the wings, marveaux, spiderman and obertan. So where would i have put asbo?? ……….. on the bench that is where. Thanks for ur performance last season but in all fairness asbo is NOWHERE near as good as half of you make out, or he makes himself out to be. Rose tinted spec’s from most on this topic!!!

Will you stop your whining about Barton and Nolan all ready.

Yes, they where both good players and professionels on the field. Both they didn’t really earn their money did they; one good seasin from them both.

Barton hasn’t really done himself any favours has he; so to blame MA is not really fair (I don’t like him either). Joey was offered a new contract in january, but turned it down.

Kevin, was offered a new contract as well, but he was more concerned with his retirement trust.

They are probably both nice blokes, bur they are all about the money at the end of the day.

You can say what you want, but the truth is, as it has been mention, non of the top 10 PL teams wanted to touch them. And to say that it has nothing to do with football is a bit of an overstatement.

Good luck to them both; life goes on and there are other good players out there.

By the way, Nolan scored 1 goal after Carroll left. 1 goal!

Thump glad its not just me that noticed haha

mr newbrick mccourt is one of the most frustrating players to watch ever! haha he just strolls about then gets the ball beats 2 or 3 men and either scores or makes a chance. Wouldn’t want him here though

Well. disappointed in losing Barton myself. but if you think Gosling isn’t premiership worthy then you haven’t seen him play. He did play on Saturday as well and should have scored but maybe the touch came a little early for him.

and Cabaye was already Bartons replacement. we dont need to replace him specifically we need to get in some more strength in depth though and a another body, probably a central defender would be a much better bet.

Aye, but i wont blame Pards on that part, he’s just said who he wants. IF we are to blame someone i’ll blame Llambas, he’s as charismatic as pimple on a pigs ass.
If we sent Alan, i’d say he could be quite convincing when it comes to ambitions and the club imo.

Enough about that tho, lets hope, just hope, that the Barton ordeal speeds things up now. that’s 50K off the wages. gotta count for something.

See the apologists are out slagging bartoon off already morons the f11cking lot of you.
Can you not see what people are getting at you t!ts.

Its not ALL about Bartoon, or Nolan or an one individual!!

It is about the fact that the fat B’stard in charge, has set out his stall to concentrate on keeping this team in the league with the minimum fork out!! How the F11ck can you apologists not see that?

Our squad is now woefully thin, thinnest it has been for years and yet players are being shown the door left right and centre with no signs of replacements linerd up befprfe they go!!

DavyBtoon you talk a massive heap of Sh!te bonny lad. We have better replacements!! WHO? Cabaye has had 2 games FFS if you were telliong me he’s on;y had 2 games the other day you cant judge him on that…..likewise you cant either sonner, he could turn out Sh!te like Demba 10m rated Ba has so far in pre-season and first game!!

Honestly some of you on here have your gobs that firmly round fat Mikes shaft that you are being blinded by his publics, and cant see that he is stripping the squad to its bare minimum to save cash, make the club more saleable as long as they remian at least 4th from bottom he doesnt give a shite!!

Fact remains, Ive been to both games and Joey B is our best player at the club!!! Bar none. Granted Collo has had 2 very decent games, but he hasnt played against the quality players in his position that Joey has and outshone them all.

The MAIN issue is letting players go NO replacements!!

T!tw$nk pardew still spouts his sh!t…….@we’ll have a new leftback before Sunderland’ honestly if you believe anything this F11ckwit says you should be tarred with the same brush….yes man cowards!!!

What people seem to forget is that we brought in Marveux, Cabaye, Ba and Abeid BEFORE anyone was sent out, save Carroll in January.
Thats a few quid in wages there. It’s not like we pay em £10.000 for the next 5 years.
I realise lies have been told and mistakes have been made, but don’t let it cloud your judgment completely.

  • 202 cnkp21 // Aug 24, 2011 at 8:25 PM

Notice how when other teams bid for our players and they are in discussions to sign, talks don’t last long and the deal gets complete straight away. When Newcastle bid for players things drag on for weeks and it always ends up that we dont get the player. Ashley obviously does not want to spend any money, Pardew is lying and this transfer deadline will end up like all the others, we put bids in at the last min and it is too late for them to sign. The behaviour of Ashley is disgraceful. He needs to sell to someone with ambition to take us where we belong.

FFS! some of you lot have not got the first idea about football or the Toon! How many times do I have to read that Cabaye is a replacement for Barton!!!??? Utter bollox!

Barton only ever managed to establish himself with us as a right sided player while Cabaye is a central box to box midfielder and has taken Nolan’s place in the side!
It was always on the cards for Barton to go but there was hope that things might settle down and he’d stay….we’ll be much the worse for losing him thats for sure! Ashley has ripped the heart out of this team and done f*** all to fix it…..

Carroll, Nolan, Enrique and Barton all gone, how long before Coloccini and Tiote are off???? I’m not so sure either will be here come the end of this season.

Ive said it before and ill say it again; we wont be signing anyone on a permananent deal during the rest of this window….couple of loan players at best. Maybe we’ll get Carroll’s eventual replacement in the January window???…….from the £20m we get selling Tiote!

Barton out for free….what a piss take!

    Football is NOT their priority.

Dismantling the 1st team and not replacing them is mismanagement in the highest order, all year (nearly)we’ve had to find a replacement for Carroll and we’ve known for ages Jose wanted to go.

Yeah get rid of the bad boy, the one that shows all the passion on the pitch and count the £’s we save from wages by giving him away FFS.

I’m just refusing to cry for spilt milk when there’s not any need to.
8 Days till the window closes, then we can all go toss MA in the sea and see if he floats. IF necessary.

I realise the Barton ordeal as being upsetting for many, as he’s a good player. But he’s only done the job for us for ONE year, otherwise we’d had to carry him for 4 of em.
There really is no justice in what people are crying out for.
When 1st of September comes, i’ll judge it like everything else. But if the players are there, and the results are there, why are we shouting at him now?!

    ??? ???? ?? ?? ???? ?????.

    Nolan equals to Cabaye?
    Barton is better then Obe?
Ba isn’t the replacement for Carroll
We still didn’t get an LB (not sure that we will) and you are already saying he will be not as good as Enrique was?

We are not better nor worse. Barton needed to go. He was passionate but that cost us dearly in other aspects of the game. Also, he is not that skillful. Long balls that go no where was his specially and yes, from time to time he did good things but mostly he didn’t do anything unique here.

If in the end of this transfer window we won’t get an LB and a good ST then yes, we would probably have less experiences. But even now, without an LB and an ST we are a much healthier club when it comes to players. Joey didn’t want to be here, Barton was a disaster, bad influence. Specially with all his twating.

What doesn’t change though, is that Ashley is a twat and he should go.

The only player who I think ( in my opinion) we’ve bought this season that has fit straight into the first team is Cabaye, maybe Obertan at a push.

We now have no (specialised) left back
We have no main striker (number 9)
We are losing a great spirit in the team and fighting force that is Joey B.
We have a choice of 3 main centre backs.
We have Sholla (bless him) as our main striker.

    @Angryman the Angry fan

Why would bill-son oppinion not matter and yours does?
    You deluded, hypocritical, daft inbred.
You know, people like u speak out of their arsehole, they make no sense, they have no relative arguments, they just say what they want to.

I could say; THINK for one second, what if, in 4 years time, we’d be pushing into the top 4, with MA still in charge, we were paying off our debt to Ashly, the club was finacially sound, and we were getting through one youngster after the other to go on an do great things.
Then you’d PRAISE MA like the hypocrit you are.

But no, no one will ever be good enough for u. U prob wanted Freddy out, now u want MA out, next u want some Qutari rich man out cause he’s turning us into a buying team.
Absolutely, positivily D.E.L.U.D.E.D in your head.
All you do is shout and scream paranoia and propaganda.

There is the room for disagreement, but not room for you.

    Notts
Ramsey is as good as Wilshere or will be once he gets his sharpness back, Gervinho has no end product based on 1 game against us? He is deadly and sets up a lot of goals. Walcott runs rings around people and gets in very dangerous places. And Frimpong has made a huge impact for Arsenal just as Tiote did for us

  • 257 Oleg G // Aug 24, 2011 at 8:50 PM

PS- our second best player wasn’t Barton so far, it was most of the time Jonas who is a real fighter and not a twitter wh**e.

Yes, that does show that experience is super important, but it cannot be the only thing that is.
Barton is violent, reckless, brings negativity and is insulting at times with his lack of maturity. He is like a 12 year old girl with his twitter and with all his abilities as a footballer, he wasn’t a star in the team. He as a good player, at times, but nothing more. And like people say here a lot about him – he had 1 good season out of how many?

Our club has been run appallingly for decades. Thats why we’ve won f all domestically for 56 years and nowt at all since the Fairs Cup in 1969.

We’ve wasted millions on trophy signings and mercanaries who have taking the pi$$ out of us and the club. We’ve had no plan, no youth policy, no structure, no f all.

The likes of you are so blind with hatred that you can’t see that Ashley is not going to have other clubs, players, agents or managers taking the pi$$ out of us.

So all those people who disagree with you are accused of performing fellatio ( look it up in a dictionary) on Mike Ashley – last time it was some other sexual act, I seem to recall. Amazed you’ve not been banned. Is that how you talk to people in public – women and children too? Try and respect others , you sad little person.

Pardew: “You only had to look at our bench on Saturday and the players who didn’t make the bench – like ALAN SMITH, for example – to know that I feel we are much stronger squad-wise this year to attack this competition, and also attack the FA Cup,”
This upsets and amuses me, Pardew thinks we are stronger cos Smith didnt make the Bench….I can honestly say Im confident if I played over Smith I would get a higher post match rating. I would put our U15s above Smith. Dont hate the guy but he is just rubbish, as is Perch wish they would go.

For those who remember Muntari at pompey he was great and that’s why he was snapped up by inter because of how well he impressed

Sure he didn’t have a good season last year but the bloke is a good footballer so to call him crap is a bit far out

also @isreali_fan everyone knows how many goals Nolan scored for us
and sure he scored more goals then shrek in the premiership last season but he would NOT fit in this new team

on a final positive note, Carroll looks like he’s having ANOTHER shite game again tonight
it really is upsetting to watch how that hero last year is slowly fading away over in merseyside :)
I dunno about anyone else but I also enjoy having a look at him on fm after a couple of seasons at liverpool and to see how much his value diminished whilst he squanders on the bench / as a sub! If you’re ever in a bad mood I really do suggest you try it!!!

  • 284 Oleg G // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:03 PM

    1. Israeli sport news are the worst, never say anything about Newcastle so no, I haven’t heard anything. (Yes, I am from Israel).

    2. Obe is better then Barton, for sure.
first of all, he is not a reject, he is a player who was bought by one of the best clubs in the world and didn’t find himself there, I don’t think that is such a bad resume.
Second, how old is he and how old is Barton? Obe has still years to develop and become even better.
Third, Barton has no creativity and no ball control, Obe does, wow, he does.
Fourth, Obe is a quite person and is a real proffesional, Barton is a child in a man’s body (I saw you said he is your favorite player, so don’t think I am trying to offend Barton, this is just how I see him).
Actually as an Israeli you should know about this, we have lots of players like this here. Great potential but never can make it because they have a big mouth, or they are lazy, or they are don’t know how to be a professional etc. etc.
And of course, Barton’s way of player is mostly lacking consistency. Sometimes he will be amazing, and the next game he will spend the game passing long balls, corners and free kicks to the opposition.

In conclusion. He can be replaced. The question is, will he. As recent History shows, he won’t be.

About Cabaye, I’ve never heard of him before he came here. Haven’t heard of Tiote before aether.
Cabaye shows in 2 games, more then I’ve seen from Nolan in 3 years. Yes, Nolan scored good goals, but as I said this a million times. When you don’t have an ST, someone still needs to score, so it was Nolan.
Saylor has a better record then Nolan hh… 3 goals in 3 games. This what happens when you don’t have strikers. Tiote scores, Saylor, Raylor, Colo, Barton, Jonas.
But, Nolan was lazy, he wasn’t running, he didn’t have the same things that Barton lacks – creativity, skills, ball control, speed. Cabaye on the other hand, has those things.

And again, I hate Ashley, I think we will not get Barton replaced, and I really am afraid for our future right now even if the team will do well. The total atmosphere is sh%t. But about Barton, my opinion is clear.

And i’m pretty sure, Muntari will be in no way Carr recommendation unless Carr didn’t watch scum games last season. He was pants and the scums terminated his loan deal. I wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole.

Perhaps the phrase you were looking for was ‘angry and disillusioned’? as opposed to ‘deluded’

….I can give you a few reasons why they would and Ashley’s history of dealings simply add weight to the suggestion. Dont get me wrong; I sincerely hope we can keep them…but then I hoped we’d keep Carroll, Nolan, Enrique and Barton

I cannot be arsed to read all the moaning shit, i agree with what davy said earlier. People on here are so deluded they think we should offer Barton and Nolan 55k a week for 5 years knowing full well in two they will be beyond useless aka Alan Smith. It upsets me that people are so narrowminded and cannot see the bigger picture. The brighter younger talent gets the contracts its the same for every other club! When was the last time any of the top four gave 5 yr contracts to there older players?!? Even Carra at liverpool doesnt get that luxury! The players are being outrageous and good riddance.

“Oleg, barton is a better midfielder than carrick, barry, parker…”

I honestly don’t watch any games except Newcastle’s so, I have no idea how Carrick and Barry plays, just never noticed them specifically. Parker, well, Parker is not a player I want to come and replace Barton so, I don’t care.
And about the English squad (no offense to most of you here of course) The English squad sucks. England is well known more for their defenders and powerful strikers then for their creative and mind blowing midfielders. Barton wouldn’t get into the England squad even if he was playing for Barcelona, Man U, Real, Milan all together because it is not about his abilities, it is about his big mouth and unprofessional behavior off the pitch and also sometimes on it.

Look, I obviously like Barton he is (or was I guess) our player, and I would like to see him stay but, he didn’t take a shorter contract and he thinks he is the best midfielder in the world, and also very smart because everything that is going through his mind he puts on twitter, I love Newcastle more then Barton so, he is the one who needs to go.

  • 311 Dannyo // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:17 PM

    @Daft_lad

I was merely making a point to Angry Chicken, that he’s a hypocritcal pisstaker.

Colo and Tiote won’t leave just as Shola was handed a contract extension.
Nolan didn’t accept the contract, Barton didn’t accept the contract, Enrique didn’t accept the contract.
All three in the final year (save Nolan i think).
They all went were the money were.
And Routledge was far from good enough, Obertan is an improvement.
Carroll we were offered a RIDICOULUS sum for, and already Dalglish having to defend him?!
We’d be stupid not to take the £35 million. The lad was worth £12 mill at most. MOST.

And yes, give me a lesson on why Collo would be sold, aswell as Tiote, this window.
I have my own theories on when and why they would be sold, but go ahead.

@ angryman its not the fact that i disregard your opinion as not valid, the whole point i read here is to have a good chat/arguement about the goings on of the club. The thing is know you are not a spotty 13 year old child with a burberry cap and a can of special brew so maybe if you stopped acting like it and being homophobic and overtly aggressive people might take you seriously.

I never said you were a mackem mate just agreed with the fact you are always negative to which you would probably agree. There is always two signs to the coin if you expressed yours less like a spotty oik people may not be so quick to insult you.

  • 332 Dannyo // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:31 PM

    @israeli_fan

No need to apologise for english, im a foreigner myself ;)

You make a valid point when saying Barton can’t say what he wants to his superiors, but MA can’t say what he want to the customers either.

Thing is, i don’t know what MA expect of anything. He’s given one statement in the early days when he took over the club, and that has been it.
I dunno if he’s media shy or does genuinly not want to handle the media, and leave it to his 2nd in command.
In my book, Llambas is the real culprit, but i dunno why MA wants to keep him, only God knows.

When it comes to Barton, he’s gone too far, and thats that, end of discussion for MA. And i agree, barton has a record as long as the toilet paper i use, and there comes a time where it’s just not worth it and u have to set an example.

I can say If, but, maybe, but the neggers can only say the same thing.

  • 356 Daft_lad // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:41 PM

    Dannyo….

You have to look at Ashley’s dealings and his methods….he’s already outlined his business plan based on the Arsenal model of buying low selling high.

He has taken every opportunity to reduce the wage bill and remove the high wage earners from the club which I cant argue with as we had to become financially viable again….problem is that 3 of our best players; Nolan, Barton and Enrique were included in addition to the previous sale of Carroll which Ashley sanctioned to swell the balance sheet. So MA is clearly not concerned as to who he sells to increase profit and so consequentially EVERYONE is fair game.

Colo is getting on in football years as an asset of the club and his resale value is high right now but will start to drop soon….he’s also into the back end of his contract and on premium wage with interest from Spain…..so what happens next do you think using MA’s business model?

Tiote’s stock has risen massively and with another 6 months performing as he did last season and with huge demand for this type of combative midfielder, one of the big boys is without doubt going to come in with an inflated offer…..so again, what happens next do you think using MA’s business model?

You have to get real and see what’s happening here; we are a selling club with the sole ambition of retaining premiership status as a means of driving profit. All assets (players) are just commodities to be traded and MA is a ruthless businessman…he wants to make money not friends, we aren’t so much a club anymore; we’re a business. This is the sad fact and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool to themselves….people need to take the blinkers off and just look at Ashleys dealings….look at the history…..look at the facts and now tell me i’m completely wrong if you can?

  • 357 TOONCHRIS // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:42 PM

Somebody mentioned that on the derby match he found us horrific and that we got lucky. I tend to agree to that we only picked up potential second half that was not realised.

Strolla SLOW as a dog and offside. Obertan showed some prowess but ran out of steam. I dont know what to say about Barton. Too much trouble but then again I respect his gutsy approach.

My main concern is the fat c**t might not dish up at the close of trade. And if that happens or we get a sorry deal just for show, I will be REALLY worried. TO me we now need a CM a ST and a LB and a LB cover or a CB cover if god forbid colo gets a knock…

    Toon1978

  • 385 Dannyo // Aug 24, 2011 at 9:56 PM

    @Daft_lad

Solid points, and u’d be surprised to know we’re not too far away from eachother in terms of how the club is run atm.
    I won’t tell u, u’re completely wrong, cause u’re not, but u will twist a little bit.

First off, i think MA wants to keep the club in the PL, and the higher up the league table he can keep us, the better revenues for him, he knows this and tries to achieve it the cheapest/fastest way possible.
But there’s a balance between the two.
In 08/09, we lost nearly £15 million, and in 09/10 we lost nearly £22 million. These are losses from the club after total income and expenses, everything included.
The numbers are from NUFC themselfes which they are required to hand in every year and are open to anyone.
It’s Pre-relegation season and Championship season. 10/11 numbers will be released May/June next year.
First off, MA has to balance the books, he’s by now put out around £130-150 million on the clubs behalf as the creditors wanted their money back when he took over the club.
Best way to balance the clubs books is buy cheap, sell expensive, like any business thats the way to survive.

BUT, he’s building up the youth program, a very clever move in terms of business. You get em in young, and sell em 3-5 years later much more expensive.

However, to retain the clubs popularity, he has to keep some of these players. We have to stay competetive to be attractive or players wont come and u’ll face a new relegation battle.
Meaning players like Tiote and Collo are likely to stay longer.
If a £25 million offer came in for Tiote next year, should we reject it? Surely we can find someone else as good as him for a cheaper fee? Maybe we have a youngster ready to take his spot?
As for Collo, regret to say this, i think he’s moving into his final year, as he’s likely to be one of the highest earners at this point, and would loosen MA’s cash belt seriously if off the books.

In the end, MA will sit on free advertising, massive income in sponsorship, free advertising for sports direct.
But MA needs to keep us up, and needs to keep us attractive.
That is why i’m not a negger.

Another strange day. Barton is having a medical today at QPR. Pardew says we are into brinksmanship to get players. How are we in a strong position to play this sort of game? PSV don’t need to sell Pieters but we desperately need him. Sochaux don’t want to sell Maiga but we desperately need a striker. How is waiting a few more days going to put us in a stronger position? Ashley, Llambias and the board are dreaming if they think these teams have to cave in to us and sell cheaply.

He’s excellent. Maybe not spectacular. I don’t know why, but many people here want him to be a playmaker. He don’t have the qualities for. He’s an excellent midfielder with a good balance between offensive and defensive awareness, but he will never take the ball and eliminate 3 or 4 guys.

So he’s very good, but i think there’s some misunderstanding about him. With time, and especially by watching his play when the team didn’t got the ball, you will realise what he can bring.

@345 yes i watch cissokho and pieters regularly and tbh cissokho is world class he cud probably play left mid aswell or maybe even left winger as he has a great cross and is lighting down the wing when he attacks however erik pieters is also a very good player but not world class but would be if full backs werent so attacking these days. on anuva subject ashley will have made £60million off selling players and cutting wages(if joey goes) as we have sold nolan-£4.5mil, enrique-£6mil,routledge-£2mil,carroll-£35mil, also in the wages (enrique-£45k, nolan-£55k, barton-£60k, kuqi-£40k, campbell-£50k, xisco-£50k, routledge-£40k, carroll-£40k) that is £380k a week off the wage bill which is £1.52mil a month which about £18million a season off the wage bill and this is all including the players that we hav signed

Stay tuned for even greater levels of insanity as Ashley sells Colo and Tiote within a year. Just think though we still have Smith and Xisco on the books (Xisco will set the Spanish league on fire this season I’m sure). You make good points based on fact….but my issue with MA is the same one I have with the government; they’re making sweeping cuts too deep and too fast. Selling Andy Carroll demostrated that anyone is fair game when a decent offer comes in, he has no hesitation in selling our best players….this is why I can’t see us holding onto Tiote because no doubt that offer will come in over the next 6-12 months. I also tend to agree with you that MA will hold onto the club; if he can work his business model and get away with it then he’s onto a real earner. All Newcatle fans can realistically do is get behind the team as always and keep up the pressure on Ashley to make him at least think before selling the crown jewels

  • 437 s_mav // Aug 24, 2011 at 10:20 PM

    @Dannyo 385
You make some good points, but the one thing that people always ask is what does Mike Ashley WANT for NUFC?
Does he want a successful club in terms of money or in terms of FOOTBALL? I don’t think you could ever build a successful football club with a constant turnover of your best players, which is what MA’s plan seems to be.

  • 438 niafron // Aug 24, 2011 at 10:21 PM

CANNOT BELIEVE that people like DaveyBToon etc still back Ashley and are happy Barton is going. Davey you keep telling everyone to take off the Rose tinted glasses, I’m afraid it’s you that needs to take them off. We are building a better team? How and where? We have no left back, no cover at centre half, lots of unproven midfielders, not one good forward. How is that building a good team?

    Is Ba better than Carroll?
Cabeye is not a replacement for Nolan, he is too defensive to play alongside Tiote .
    Is Raylor better than Jose?
Who has Bartons fight? Will we sign a replacement?

So it’s another profit for the FCB and he has again been proven a liar.

Davey if you think Obertan, Cabeye, Marveax, Ba are better than Carroll, Jose, Nolan and Barton then you’ve been watching different football to me and the proof will be in the pudding when we struggle all season.

I wish he would communicate, even if what he communicated was wrong.
Atleast we’d all shout at him, instead of arguing amongst ourselfes.

A good business does not equal a good football club and I think therein lies the biggest problem with MA, a football club isn’t like a normal business in that with a football club you can pretty much treat your “customers” how you like knowing that the majority will still be back next week, how many other businesses can say that?

It’s repeated on here daily that we should wait til the end of the window before we judge, but on the basis of previous windows under Ashley then I think I can be forgiven for being doubtful. Today has just added another player that we need to bring in. Can anyone seriously see us bringing in a replacement for Barton(Barnetta?) a LB (Pieters?) and a quick, dangerous striker (imo NOT Maiga!)

Relieved by the qualification of the OL to 20 million euros for the group stage of the Champions League , Bernard Lacombe has released a few days before the end of the transfer window. A new strong man of the OL behind Jean-Michel Aulas, the advisor to the President made ??a straightforward development of Aly Cissokho he can not stand the whining: ” Currently, Aly Cissokho we ask a lot of problems because that every day he comes to ask us to leave , “he dropped on RMC.

    Newcastle does not let Cissokho
Bernard Lacombe has also recognized that a club had sent an offer for Newcastle. But the stinginess of the Magpies could derail the transaction. ” That would be annoying a few days before the end of transfer window it goes. Afterwards, Newcastle made ??an offer. But the problem is that the English club gives half of what it cost us. If it’s like that, Aly will stay with us. ” Not sure that this epilogue does not snatch all the Lyon fans.

At this subject, have you noticed how american film makers are delighted to destroy french cities?

I’m disappointed to lose Barton he was our best player last season and I felt he added a lot to the team we will miss him. On the plus we will lose the added baggage associated with him, we can play an out and out winger on the right side and it frees up 65k of wages whether it makes any difference it remains to be seen.

  • 496 WWJBD // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:06 PM

Haha yeah Pato and a sly bid for Neymar on the last day of the window….you know prices always drop on the closing day apparently

Pieters to sign by 31st August so thats a week….why does it take us a week to sign a funking player?! Honest to christ do we use sodding morse code?!

  • 497 WWJBD // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:06 PM

    Have a good un JB

  • 498 Andy // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:07 PM

Haha i am afraid not TDS. Off to leeds fest :) first festival should be good. Niafron that is what i would expect. And the only surviving part of newcastle would be the indestructable £35 million water bore at the training ground haha. Also on your second point i have no clue what you’re talking about haha

  • 499 NUFClad // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:08 PM

look if barton goes he goes, yeah im gutted but no one player is bigger than the club! we can cope without him and regardless of what people on here seem to believe we have players of high enough calibre to prosper in this league.

also people saying barton > cabaye or nolan > cabaye , dont know what they are talking about look at cleverly at man u playing the same sort of position as scholes. he has little epl experience but he has fitted easily into their team. its pathetic comparing our current players to ex players. also if barton is so key how come hes been played out of position for the last year and a bit?!?!

  • 502 nick_9 // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:11 PM

Take it as you will but im gutted to see any quality player leave depsite their ego. I want to see eleven players on the pitch fighting for the cause but at the same time they must have a bit of quality. Ego’s dont mean sh1t when you have someone who can manage them. Carroll, Enrique, Nolan and Barton will all be missed. The rest of the squad need to prove their worth now.

Cheers TDS. Gonna blank out all results and just watch the games back on sky plus when i get back. Starting with scunny haha. Hopefully we do a proffesional job on them, None of this disrespectful expect a stroll in the park stuff

  • 505 West Lancs Geordie // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:24 PM

But he’s a “business man” Dannyo. So long as we stay up the club is saleable. He can always dip into the coffers in the January window if we are in trouble but by then we will have to pay top bucks for anybody who is any good. You must know that to succeed you need to blend youth with experience & most of those guys have now been moved on. 55000 stadium + armchair fans need to see a bit of ambition & not just a hope to survive. We’ll see how hungry for cups the Puppet is tomorrow night with the team he picks. Let’s hope JB doesn’t bit our bum in a fortnight if he signs for QPR

  • 506 Colo2 // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:28 PM

Hoping for some good news tomorrow aside from beating Scunny. Can’t believe we’re into the last week of the window without another ST or senior LB…oh wait yeah I can.

Out of the strikers we been linked with today who would people prefer? C.Cole, Bendtner or Emnes.
I’d take Bendtner, I’m still praying for Sturridge on loan though.

  • 507 CAToon // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:29 PM

Barton is an excellent part of the squad. He was instrumental in the club having a successful season. However, the move to QPR would be a win-win for both clubs. QPR is looking to build a team of experienced epl players and are willing to offer long term contacts to older players. NUFC has a team of younger talented players that need to get established. Barton gets a better contact, nufc gets to free up wage money. Sorry to see him go, but it’s a good move for him and the team.

  • 508 brklyngeordie // Aug 24, 2011 at 11:48 PM

Everyone get over it joey is just liked for his passion or unpredictability wtvr u wanna call it he is not a great footballer and this is coming from someone who likes him.. What does he possess that is so incredible? Speed? No.. Creativity? No.. Free kicks? No..Youth and bright future? No.. Some think he has steel but at the end of the day he is selfish and a ungrateful Judas.. he wants more money thats all same reason he wouldnt decrease his wages when he was locked and kicking nothing but bars for himself this ungrateful C**nt..He really wanted out after Nolan left and all these people that have left are just using one another as an excuse for leaving then pointing out our “lack of ambition” to hell with these bums..Hows it going for Big Kev at west ham nice job captaining the boys to a win over Aldershot.. O wait u didnt!! so to hell with these mercenaries to hell with our board its the club we love and players and owners come and go but true fans are for life and always support!! HWTL!! lets do the double this week!!

  • 509 Iwantcurlyhair2 // Aug 25, 2011 at 12:02 AM

Hi lads. Been reading blog for some time and found myself now wanting to comment. Just thought I would express my opinion on the Barton situation. Cant understand ppl who say he shud stay? He is not wanted fair and square, he has never been offered a contract so how can he sign one. Ppl who say Cabaye better than him make me laugh. Hardly anyone on here wud have seen him play before this season.

  • 510 BOOM BOOM THE 1ST // Aug 25, 2011 at 1:08 AM

  • 511 GoalsBringSmiles // Aug 25, 2011 at 1:16 AM

I can offer nothing more to this debate than Daft lad @356 as, after sifting through 500 comments I have found that he makes the most accurate observations. Well said DaftLad, and sadly, you speak the blatant truth.

  • 512 Rowan Milsted // Aug 25, 2011 at 1:47 AM

Just when I allowed myself to start thinking that Barton might stay… in the words of Edmund Blackadder, I believe the expression rhymes with clucking bell.

I have also read through most of the 500-odd comments and of course DaftLad @ 356 is right, there’s no denying the business model and the financial strategy MA has undertaken, but that doesnt’ mean it will continue indefinitely, ie with the sale of every single decent player for profit. I worry that the likes of Tiote and Colo will follow Barton, Nolan, Carroll and Enrique out the door but MA also knows that relegation can cripple a club financially. For that reason he must be aware that he cannot sell every single good player who commands a good salary and replave them with cheap/free unproven PL players as if he weakens the squad too greatly we will risk our PL status. I reatin some hope that the selling will end soon. Some hope, I say…

  • 513 NUFC-BRAZILFAN // Aug 25, 2011 at 2:55 AM

I think Mike Ashley just don’t want the club anymore and that’s why he is not spending in new signs. He wants to take as much money as he can from the club to sell it later. The money he maid selling players was more than enough to have pay the bills and make profit for new signs.

  • 516 Sav // Aug 25, 2011 at 3:38 AM

The saddest part about Joey leaving on the wrong end of an Ashely grudge is I can’t help feeling that the only remaining person attached to the club whom the owner is determined to get even with is Johnny Fan.
We were told when he came he was an outsider, a recluse, a self-made maverick who played by his own rules and liked to ‘park his tanks on other people’s lawns’. Is he determined to torment us by flogging those we hold in highest regard? To divest us of hope for success beyond survival? To stamp his Sports Direct logo on our traditions? To take back his investment in the flesh of the loyalty of Newcastle support?

  • 517 shamsoftabriz // Aug 25, 2011 at 4:08 AM

Perhaps Mike Ashley will apply the freed-up wages from the dearly departed Barton to a bid for a talented….oh wait…right.

  • 518 redondo77 // Aug 25, 2011 at 4:18 AM

it seems many people here (not all), NUFC=Barton.
It seems without Barton, we are doomed. Yes he has good performance in Sunderland game, but I thought he was crap in Arsenal game especially his free kick. He also got us 30k fine in that game.

  • 519 aussiemag // Aug 25, 2011 at 5:27 AM

I for one am personally stoked if he goes.
I mean hes nothing but a 28 year old baby who nedds a massive pacifieer if you ask me!
Yes he may be a good footballer but could you imagine just how good he could be if he put all that time and effort whinging and tweeting to good use…. I tell you if he did he would be more of a permanent figuree in the England Sqaud and could easily sign for whoever he wanted for whatever he wanted…… Shame really he only has his self to blame i feel….. Any Comments?

    HAWAY LE GARS!

  • 521 brettsinsa // Aug 25, 2011 at 6:39 AM

I for one am gutted that joey is leaving He has been our grunt in midfield, played out of position most of the time but played well and with heart. left nothing in the tank every-time he went out. we as a club are kidding ourselves , if we are letting players of this calibre leave because the owners are so petty and act like 5yr olds over name calling and being told the truth!!! i can understand the club wanting to lower wages in these day and ages. but surely we NEED our better players to stay around and in my OPINION he was one of our better players. We ARE a weakened side now because our owners haven’t got a set of Balls between them this includes Pardew because if his words had any F%&king merit would have been at Fat Boy fighting tooth and nail to keep Joey, but i believe due to the lowering wages he will get a nice little bonus,(TWAT) , So we have owners that are treating Us like fools and the Most spineless piece of Crap Manager(it hurts me to call him that) in the competition. i pity the new lads who have arrived here as i think they have been lied to from the beginning…..

  • 522 Jarra-mag // Aug 25, 2011 at 7:14 AM

im not botherd if he goes aslong as he gets replaced wich we all know is not going to happen. just like the andy carrol money. we are lying down time and time again for this fat peice of shit. and part of that is some of our own fans fault. we are to soft and are getting taken for mugs. soon we will be going back over

  • 523 Xavi // Aug 25, 2011 at 7:32 AM

    i agree 519 & 520.

i doubt anyone cares but i said at the start of the transfer window that the andy carroll money wont be reinvested and that all we’ll be going for are bargains.

god some of us (me included) thought we shouldve gone for 20mill sturridge. hahaha how naive were we thinking this fat piece of **** would actually buy someone that good for that amount of money…

we have an ok team even with barton leaving, which i am totally against. BUT we are one injury crisis away from being as bad as blackburn or norwich

  • 524 Rotonda heights // Aug 25, 2011 at 8:04 AM

  • 525 Rotonda heights // Aug 25, 2011 at 8:05 AM

is that the same ashley who kept paying him and stood by him in prison, short memories or what.

  • 526 derekm // Aug 25, 2011 at 10:48 AM

How the hell do we know how disruptive Barton actually is behind the scenes? Don’t tell me that you can believe all the badge kissing, I love the fans crap he has spouted – this is NOT a nice bloke, end of story. God knows what any of the new boys thought of the club when he threw the strop at Leeds, the fight at Anfield with Shearer, the criticism of his bosses online, the prison time he served whilst on £60K a week etc etc etc. He declared that will only leave NUFC for a champions league club – QPR. His agent declared openly that there were a number of top clubs after his signature, so he chooses the four year £60K a week offer from the Londoners? Deal with it -we can now blood the more promising, sane young stars who won’t pick a fight everytime we are up against it.
