Newcastle Make Improved Offer For Erik Pieters

There could be good news for Newcastle fans soon, yes that may come as a a big shock we know, but it seems Newcastle have indeed made an improved offer for Erik Pieters.

Erik Pieters – Newcastle make improved offer

The offer is still short of the asking price of around £6M, but the news is the bid was made late yesterday, so who knows, maybe the deal will go through soon.

The agent of PSV Eindhoven and Dutch International  left-back star Erik Pieters,  even says he thinks his client will be joining Newcastle.

But Newcastle have just six days left in the window, and need a new left-back and a striker, and presumably somebody to replace Joey Barton, should the experienced Premier League player leave for QPR, although that deal is still not struck at the time of writing.

Piet van der Pol is Erik’s agent and he has said today he thinks his client will eventually sign on at Newcastle, but of course, he’ll be wishing and hoping for that, because that’s how he earns his money.

This is what Piet van der Pol said today:

“Newcastle’s interest is very serious and Erik finds the club a real challenge.”

“I don’t know the exact numbers of Newcastle’s offer, but I’m pretty sure that the transfer will go ahead.”

But surely Newcastle will push at least one deal through soon, in the wake of another top player, Joey Barton, about to leave Newcastle.

There’s six days left in the transfer window, and it could be do or die for Newcastle depending on how successful the club is in securing three good players by September 1st.

We’ll need a win tonight at Scunthorpe to keep the mood of the fans up, and it would also be very good if a couple of the youngsters impress tonight.

Comments welcome.

Anyone else here think that maybe the senior players at the club made a pact to leave NUFC when the Cashley sold Carroll and refused to give raises?!
    Just a theory…

I say this with gritted teeth….he has a release clause….we know what it is apparently….if we met it we can get the deal done within a day…..we have millions and millions made by selling players that was promised would be invested…….

    @felipe

i dont say we will get relegated.. we have a good team actually.. we are probably on pair with the likes of wba, stoke and fulham. i guess we will finish 12-15.

i think its unacceptable to a club like newcastle.
I said yesterday i dont want an arab owner to buy us and spend crazy money like city or chelsea or even liverpool for that matter.

but i do want an ambitious owner, who is a fan of newcastle… like quinn in sunderland.
so far we bought good players… the problem is that we sold all our key players and its a huge gamble

WWJBD – What people haven’t considered is how much oversoil heating will cost – and this has to be taken out of Enrique’s transfer money… people need to wipe their nose and mark their cards SERIOUSLY… just thinking we can reinvest incoming revenue – even a fraction of it – on other players ha! how naive.. to think we could do what every other club on the planet does!?!?… so childish.. such neggers!

Absolutely disgraceful. The whole thing really does leave me feeling sick.

Be as stingy as you like until August, but for the love of god THE SEASON STARTED 3 WEEKS AGO!

We’re 3 weeks in, and instead of buying the two players we DESPERATELY need, we have let another of our best go for free…

so sick of people looking at a strikers stats and stating 1 goal in 4 games ratio etc “he cant be any good” but people forget the supply….im sure if drogba played for qpr his ratio would be even worse than sholas…it all about the suply…well not all but a lot…you know what i mean…
in a striker you need to tell if he has movement, positional skills and obviously being lethal but without any around him creating chances for him wheres he getting the opportunities from…
i dont know much about this roux dude in fact nothing except the youtube vids but im willing to take a punt on him….well it aint my money

@14 so you dont want our owner, you want an ambitious owner like sunderlands who’s bought over priced average players!
I dunno if you were around last week but our tight owners team beat their ambitious one 1-0

Exactly, I think we will finish above Sunderland this year like.

    @18
Their transfers have been way over priced and a couple of injuries to these new ‘key’ players will cripple them.

SAFC fans are already calling for Bruce’s head so they cant be doing that well!

Every other club on the planet?

Didnt Man U sell ronaldo for 80 mill then next transfer window only spent 16 million….Arsenal make a profit in nearly every transfer window but they are in the champions league every year.

Its pretty stupid how you want the club to be making a loss every year but you are moaning that income hasnt been re invested because if the club didnt use to make a loss every year we wouldnt have to keep transfer income.

Haha. 😛 I guess you’re kidding? If not, I’m not sure if it’s the correct lyrics, but I believe it’s the main chorus from a ‘The Pointer Sisters’ song back in the 80s.

It just came to me when I read post 1 and 2. Exciiiteeeeed.

Seriously though, I’m really hoping for Pieters. He’s my fav for the lb position of those we’re being linked with.

People seem to forget how many goals strikers in our league score, if you look at it other than a handful of Elite strikers around 12-14 is good so 1 in 3 is a decent ratio.

You’re kidding me right? That makes absolutely no sense. We all know Enrique’s quality, and he would have probably played for Spain had he not played in the Championship for a year!

Also, I’m doing a maths degree and I can assure you that there is no maths involved in your argument lol.

Erik Pieters would be a great signing,, but since our LB left so unexpectedly – I doubt there is time to find a replacement, after all, Andy Carrol left 8 month ago and is still to be replaced.

Eastander – be fair, they have shown ambition over the summer – and I wouldn’t judge their entire recruitment strategy based on one game.. fools rush in mate.

The early season fixture suited us as we had hardly any changes from last season’s 11 – only two new faces in fact. It’s a long season.
