There could be good news for Newcastle fans soon, yes that may come as a a big shock we know, but it seems Newcastle have indeed made an improved offer for Erik Pieters.
Erik Pieters – Newcastle make improved offer
The offer is still short of the asking price of around £6M, but the news is the bid was made late yesterday, so who knows, maybe the deal will go through soon.
The agent of PSV Eindhoven and Dutch International left-back star Erik Pieters, even says he thinks his client will be joining Newcastle.
But Newcastle have just six days left in the window, and need a new left-back and a striker, and presumably somebody to replace Joey Barton, should the experienced Premier League player leave for QPR, although that deal is still not struck at the time of writing.
Piet van der Pol is Erik’s agent and he has said today he thinks his client will eventually sign on at Newcastle, but of course, he’ll be wishing and hoping for that, because that’s how he earns his money.
This is what Piet van der Pol said today:
“Newcastle’s interest is very serious and Erik finds the club a real challenge.”
“I don’t know the exact numbers of Newcastle’s offer, but I’m pretty sure that the transfer will go ahead.”
But surely Newcastle will push at least one deal through soon, in the wake of another top player, Joey Barton, about to leave Newcastle.
There’s six days left in the transfer window, and it could be do or die for Newcastle depending on how successful the club is in securing three good players by September 1st.
We’ll need a win tonight at Scunthorpe to keep the mood of the fans up, and it would also be very good if a couple of the youngsters impress tonight.
