News today in the local papers that Newcastle are preparing to sign French defender Danny Situ.
Danny Situ – 20 year-old defender to sign on at Newcastle
The 20 year-old impressive French Youth International defender has apparently done well a trial on Tyneside, and will now be joining his former team-mate at Lens, Mehdi Abeid at Newcastle.
Abeid was signed as a free agent in the summer.
Newcastle are said to be close to a deal for the player, that will have Newcastle pay more than £250K up front to Lens, with various additions to that, depending on how well Danny does at Newcastle.
While Newcastle fans were used to big signings during the Freddy Shepherd era, these deals are the important ones at Newcastle these days, and Danny could be pressing for a first team position very soon, and it’s good to see a defender signed.
Rather than pay out say £15M for a player, Newcastle hope to now produce them on Tyneside, by getting top youngsters into the club early – that’s the strategy anyway.
But we knew about Danny before he arrived on trial, and he’s a very good player indeed.
Danny’s a top French youngster, who will initially be part of the development squad, much like Abeid is, but Mehdi is already pushing to get into the first team picture.
Daniel Situ-Buyente (Danny Situ) stands 6’2″ tall and is a leader on and off the field, who has captained all the French youth sides he has played in, and he scored one of Newcastle’s goals in their 5-0 win over Gateshead Reserves last week.
Danny was born in Rouen in March, 1992, is of Congolese descent and plays as a center back or as a defensive midfielder, and the lad is known for his robust physique and sheer physical strength.
Situ looks a top prospect and has played at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels for France.
Nothing yet regarding the other Lens youngster who is on trial at Newcastle, 19 year-old William Rémy, who is also a French Youth International.
It’s good news that Danny is coming to Newcastle, and he’s another one scouted by Graham Carr.
Comments welcome.

Comment #82I think it’s good business getting young players in.We have to build for the future as well as thinking of today.Long gone are the days when we spend 15-20 million on a player.
If Graham Carr can keep finding good young talent then all the better.
As for Barton we are well rid in my view.We had better set plays with Taylor, and Wey Aye Cabaye than with him taking everything. We have Marveaux,Gosling,Vuckic, and Hatem to come into the team if needed.Jonas can play right or even Obertoon toon.
We just need a Left back and number 9 for a decent squad.
Looking forward to the team he puts out tonight as hoping to see Marveaux,,Vuckic, and Gosling getting a run out,and hopefully a front 2 of Ba and Best.

Comment #83So Pardew cared about upsetting him? Pardew got Barton back in the team after he was forced to play with the reserves….what a load of cack mate
Pardew wanted him to stay for a reason
Barton played a full season as a RW Gosling spent over a full season on a medics table. Experience over injury is fairly simple surely?

Comment #86@ Richy – Thanks mate. Come on WWJBD you know he is a negger on the squad – 1/2 them are scared to talk to him or about him even the manager ffs… he can go and we need to believe in what we have left – 1 x Gosling = 4 x Barton.

Comment #87HOW do you work out that half the squad and manager are scared to talk to him? Again a utter load of crap

Comment #88WWJBD – i know you are pi$$ed that Barton is leaving – So am I would you believe but we have to believe in the squad that is left… Gosling is a class act and he needs his chance… Barton has had many many chances… and just brings a negative light on the club as a whole…

Collo should have been player of the season, not Barton.
The sooner Barton is out of the door the better. He think the club owes him, no, its the other way around, if it wasn’t for NUFC, his career would have been over years ago

Comment #90@CynicalsEva 55:
Just to put the record straight against comments like cynicals which is made without a breath of truth in it.
The squad sizes reported to the EPL at the end of the January 11 window were as follows. The numbers are for home grown squad followed by u21 and developed players followed by a total. We did as you see have the 3rd biggest squad. Now I’m sure every other club has been out and increased their squad size immensely over the summer window and we’ll no doubt find out on september 1st that we have slipped from 3rd to 20th but as it stands with the epl at the moment here it is.
1 Liverpool 20 55 75
2 Arsenal 20 54 74
3 Newcastle United 24 46 70
4 Manchester City 23 47 70
5 Manchester United 25 44 69
6 Tottenham Hotspur 25 43 68
7 West Ham United 25 40 65
8 Chelsea 21 43 64
9 Blackburn Rovers 23 40 63
10 Wolverhampton Wanderers 25 37 62
11 Sunderland 24 38 62
12 Aston Villa 23 38 61
13 West Bromwich Albion 25 35 60
14 Bolton Wanderers 24 35 59
15 Everton 20 37 57
16 Fulham 25 31 56
17 Wigan Athletic 21 33 54
18 Birmingham City 25 26 51
19 Stoke City 25 24 49
20 Blackpool 25 23 48

Comment #91Mate actually am not pi$$ed at Barton leaving, I knew it was coming and I accepted it along time ago. I am hacked off with ‘true fans’ turning on him and ripping him apart for f all reason
He is a damn good player and a damn good leader regardless of what team he is playing for yet because he is leaving us he is the devil….just like Carroll, Jose, Routledge and Nolan. Hell if Tiote is sold he will be slated for being a crap Smith the next day
Gosling is a good player yes and he was the lad I most wanted to watch this coming season am not knocking him at all but he is behind Barton in the pecking order for a reason

And without Barton we would of quite probably been relegated. We were saved by the Carroll goals in thefirst half of the season…a lot of which came from Bartons assists the club may not owe him anything but me and you as ‘true fans’ do

Size of squad is so big….yet we were crippled with injuries for what reason last season? Oh because the players we have are pi$$ poor….yet they are still here and the ones worthy of the place have been flogged

Comment #97@WWJBD – Fair enough. I just want us all to understand that we can carry on here without him and tbh we are better off without him. The squad can settle down and not have to wonder what Joey is going to say every day… its not right… not one player is biggeer than the club but Joey seems to think so. He has taken NUFC as his home but with all his trouble its time to get back on the street..

I am a Sunderland fan? Well quite frankly you are a fickle fan who places far to much faith in dreams rather than facts…standard deluded Newcastle fan really
Facts are that we were ruined by injuries last year and that was due to us having no strength in depth regardless of how many kids we have ‘coming through’ we had no one to fill the voids in the squad so facts are we had numbers but no quality

Comment #108@WWJBD – Fella – The press hates us – we dont play ball with them…. since Joe Kinnear we have been down-tagged in the press and it will continue. That why we are on Sky Sports tonight as they would love it if they beat us… then they can run stories all year that the 2nd biggest club in the country is under pressure again… SSN = A-holes…

We are trying to progress as a squad yet Ashley wont allow us to because it will cost money and he has very little to no knowledge of how to run a football club.
For what he gave us on the pitch then yes the pros out weigh the cons specially when we wont be replacing players and need QUALITY DEPTH rather than numbers

Comment #110@WWJBD 102:
Carroll… cause we got £35m for him (£25m more than he’s worth.
Nolan… cause he’s not worth a 5 year contract and is only now good enough for the championship (unless all the other prem clubs were on holiday when we sold him)
Barton… as previously stated, he’s a thug and causes trouble in the dressing room, the club want rid.
Enrique… Club offered him our wage cap but couldn’t match liverpool. Liverpool (not having just returned from the championship) are clearly closer to cl football than we are and Enrique is good enough to play in it. Really sorry he left.
Pretty simple really.

Aye the press hate us but its not just the press that have ear marked us its general football fans and pundits that have no reason to dislike us. They are seeing it without the toon shades on and they are saying we are in trouble
Its not just us fans that see we are willing to spend money and are very willing to sell our players. Ashley isnt backing the club right now and thats pretty plain and simple to see which is why we are very much seen in the relegation fight

He has no less knowledge than the yanks running Liverpool, manure and villa, or the foreigners who own man city, chelsea, birmingham and the like. Football is now a business and he certainly knows how to run one of them. If you don’t like the fact he is trying to make it pay its own way then you’re in for a miserable couple of years. I can’t even imagine how depressing coming on here every day saying that all toon players are piss poor and the like….

Comment #115So our good players are leaving because we arent willing to compete with PL clubs who have ambition or because we wont pay wages that are fair?
Also I dont need to ‘prove’ I am not a mackem, I support NUFC hence why I comment on it. I also dont feel the need to throw around insults towards people who disagree with me so ‘proving’ myself to people who do isnt really high on my to do list.

Comment #118Actually those owners have surrounded themselves with people who know what they are doing in football and they listen to them
Ashley cleared out everyone who knew about football and replaced them with friends who knew the same as him. Anyone who does know about what we need is ignored unless they offer a very cheap option
Also I dont come on here saying the players are pi$$ poor everyday if you had any knowledge to back up your little narky insults you would understand they dont relate well to me

Comment #119@WWJBD 115: Nasri and Fabregas left Arsenal. Do they have no ambition? No, but a footballers life is a short one and you can’t blame jose for trying to bring forward cl football. Clearly if (and I accept its an if) it works then bringing through youth is going to take longer than going out and spending £100m+ a la liverpool, man city or chelsea.
