Newcastle Have Five Targets Lined Up In Four Busy Days

We were disappointed that we’ve lost both Jose Enrique and Joey Barton over the last 10 days or so.

Modibo Maiga – still a target

They were very good players, and both gave Newcastle everything they had when they played for the Tyneside club, and you cannot ask more than that.

And even though players who leave Newcastle tend to get booed when they return playing for another club, let’s just remember these two lads gave everything they had when they played in those famous black and white striped shirts.

And that goes for Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll too.

But as we said yesterday Newcastle must now move on,  and at the moment the club is short of players, as everybody knows, but we are hoping the signing of Dutch left-back Erik Pieters is not too far away.

There is news in the local Newcastle press today,  that the club will be out in full force this weekend,  looking to finalize a deal for a striker.

There has been news over the last four days that Newcastle have an interest in Nolan Roux, the 23 year-old Stade Brest striker who has played once for the French U21 side, but a fee of around £7M  seems way out of whack, or maybe we are just way out of whack.

😀

The lad is fast and can score goals, so he remains a possibility, but apparently Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga is still a potential signing, even though his club reported Newcastle to FIFA,  for an illegal approach for their player.

Alan Pardew is obviosuly not gouing to give anything away, but Newcastle have around five targets they will be going after before Wednesday evening, when the transfer window slams shut.

Newcastle will hopefully bring in a left back and a striker, and hopefully a replacement for the departed Joey Barton.

This is what Alan said today:

“We have four or five targets, and hopefully we can get two over the line.”

And maybe the reason Demba Ba looked so out of sorts on Wednesday is that he is participating in Ramadan, and is not eating or drinking during daylight hours.

While he’s on a fast Alan should probably not play him, but that does explain why he looked so poor on Thursday evening, so in a way it’s good news.  And we need all the good news we can get in the next four days.

If Newcastle can get in a striker and left back,  and also sign young Danny Shitu, The French defender, Newcastle will have not fared too bad this summer after all.

Howay The Lads!!

I’ve never known a club take so long to sign known targets especially as the players all seem to wanna come. FFS get a move on. If they dont get someone in before the deadline thats me finished with them!

    must say if we sign
Roux and either Cissokho or Pieters this would of been a really good window all better than what weve sold but lack in experience which is the only downfall..

I personally still feel we need around 4 first team players to come in we defo need
LB, CB, RW, ST, and really we could do with 1 more ST as Ameobi, Loven aint good enough which only leaves us with Ba and Best + 1 new one and Ba will be going to African cup in Jan, We could also do with a replacement for Tiote but maybe we could just get someone on loan in January, Josh Mcheacaran is looking for a loan from January onwards

I aint got a problem with the quality of the targets cos Carr seems to know what he’s doing; it’s just the time it takes the hierarchy to sort it.

When I talk about quality I’m assuming Carr didnt scout Demba Ba ha ha

Getting fed up with no transfer activity!

It’s actually becoming a joke, and exactly who are we going to replace joey with? Gosling should be starting to replace him, he just needs to work on his shooting. Two clear cut chances against Scunny and another against the unwashed wasted because he couldn’t hit the target!

4 or 5 targets but he wants 2 over the line?! In other words hes only allowed two! I keep hearing Carlton Coles name! Scary thought! Sammy Ameobi is better than him!

Hugo – Guthrie is injured on road to recovery got injury in pre-season against Darlington..

Sgt – Roux will cost us around £7million pound which seems to be our maximum striker budget, he’s only 23 and according to french experts he is a very big prospect and is a better option than Maiga, hes supposed to be a very gifted striker and a natural finisher and is described as having more than average speed.. think he could be what wer looking for hopefully

Moonraker…it is a familiar pattern of tightarsery on the part of you know who…..don’t despair though, because someone will materialise and this will be spun out to be some kind of signing coup and divert attention from the holes all over the squad. The numbers, both financially and bodily just won’t add up to progress. Carlton Cole maybe lurking in the back of someone’s evil mind!

Demba will come good his record tells you that at WH and Hoff.

    Translation as follows:

Nolan Roux on the brink of Newcastle?

After a transfer failed to Schalke 04 in Germany, Nolan Roux could finally take the road to England before August 31. Interested in the services of striker trained to RC Lens, Newcastle, Premier League resident, approached the Stade Brest and would have made ??an offer in line with the player’s release clause, eight million. It is rumored that Friday night, officers were waiting for the approval of Brest RC Lens, which still holds 50% of the player to close the deal.

Wouldn’t mind Roux, actually. From what I’ve seen of him (which isn’t much, admittedly) he’s fairly quick and is the Coloccini of strikers – very calm and composed, and not in a Shola kind of “oh look there’s the ball” kind of way.

I really can’t see us getting anyone signed before the end of the transfer window. They’ll come out and say that the preferred targets weren’t available and wouldn’t be held to ransom regarding wages and agent fees. The club will then go on to state that money will be made available during the winter window and we’ll start the whole ridiculous runaround again.

Kevin Keegan was right when he stated we wouldn’t see any of the Carroll money. I thought he was maybe just spitting his dummy out but sadly it’s happening.

We fall for it every time. I’m counting on nothing happening regarding signings, selling all of our best players in future (Krul, Tiote and a few more will go in the next 2 years to get as much money as possible from the big clubs), hopefully just avoiding relegation each year and a handful of games in each cup before being found out.

Regardless of what happens, or doesn’t happen, I’ll still be going with my family and will cheer on whoever pulls on the black ‘n’ white shirt.

personally a think Guthrie is a good player when fully fit and givin a good run in his actual position of CM hes a very good passer and good battler, Hughton always played him RM and he always drifted inside and left the wing open for other teams wingers and full backs to attack Simo

Would it be worth our while to take a look at Owen Hargreaves on a pay as you play contract? maybe for 2 years.

I know he’s a walking liability, but if he’s injury free, maybe he could be the right gamble.

He fits the profile for MA; I mean he just released Barton for free so to speak and he could then sign Owen Hargreaves for free 😉 hehe

    @ Geordie

I agree about Shane Long we should have bought him AND a top quality foreigner – that could have been a nice anglo/foreign strike partnership.

Ah well. Still think Ba will come good personally he needs good service and team is gelling at the mo – judge it on 6-8 games in.
