Newcastle have a game they can win tomorrow afternoon against Fulham at St. James’ Park.
Alan Pardew will have most of the squad fit for selection, with only Ben Arfa, Danny Guthrie and Mike Williamson out injured tomorrow.
With having to play extra time on Thursday evening at Scunthorpe, some of the players may be a little tired, and the first half of this game will be important.
That’s for a couple of reasons, and the other reason is because Newcastle have looked hopeless in the first 45 minutes of the first three games, and we have to hope we don’t give away early goals tomorrow.
Alan Pardew rested several first teamers on Thursday night, so this is the side we think Alan will play tomorrow:
Krul
Simpson Coloccini (c) Taylor(S) Taylor (R)
Gosling Tiote Cabaye Gutierrez
Ameobi (Sh) Best
Subs: Harper Ferguson Smith Vuckic Ameobi (Sa) Lovenkrands Marveaux
We’re assuming Steve Harper is fit to be the back-up goalkeeper, but if not Ole Soderberg will be on the bench, as the in-form Tim Krul continues in the Newcastle goal.
With Mike Williamson out injured, Newcastle are looking a little short in defense, with only Shane Ferguson on the bench as a defender.
Pardew may put Dan Gosling out on the right win in place of Joey Barton, or he may even give Sylvain Marveaux another start tomorrow.
Newcastle have the chance to register their third win in a row before the two week International break, and if they can win the game, we will also be high in the table, possibly in the top six.
That would be terrific.
Fulham have not made a good start to the season, having just one point from their first two games, with a 0-0 draw at home against Aston Villa followed last week by a 2-0 defeat at Wolves.
If Wolves can beat Fulham, then surely Newcastle are in with more than a decent chance tomorrow?
Fulham were also in action on Thursday night in the Europa Cup in the Ukraine, and although they were beaten 1-0 by Dnipro, they got through the round 3-1, having won 3-0 in the home tie.
So Fulham did a lot of traveling for that game, although they played just 90 minutes, and the two games should probably cancel each other out, in terms of the players being ready for this game.
With Joey Barton the latest very good Newcastle player to leave the club the fans may be down a little.
So it would be great to have another win tomorrow, and there must be a decent chance to get all 3 points, assuming the lads can play anywhere near their best in the first half, and continue the good work in the final 45 minutes.
We have to hope the defense again plays well, and Alan has already said he will play all three subs, so we look forward to Sammy Ameobi and Haris Vuckic being introduced some time in the second half, and Sylvain Marveaux will probably be the third sub to get a run-out tomorrow.
Sammy and Haris looked very good at Scunthorpe and turned the game in the Magpies favor, and Sylvain Marveaux showed periods of great skill out on the left wing.
We need a win tomorrow, and with just a little bit of luck, we could get our second league win of the season, and the third win in a row.
Comments welcome.

Note to Hong Kong Fans and a message from Thomas Chan, Vice Chairman of The Hong Kong Newcastle United FC Supporters Club.
There will be a Supporters Club’s official gathering before the game tomorrow in the “Trafalgar Bar” in Wanchai, Hong Kong, and it comes before the TV screening of the game.
Since most of the members are Chinese speaking, they would like to have many more English supporters join them tomorrow.

Comment #250Yep, agree. Problem is, we have a squad to play a certain style of football but we don’t have a striker to fit it. Small, quick and out to prove a point, that’s all we’re asking for.

Comment #251davybtoon, I agree in part. But we need a strike force. We have so little up front. I can live with Raylor covering LB but Shola and Ba as our strike force. NO SORRY.

Comment #260Haha, looking to buy this seasons toon top and this is the description….The new Newcastle United Home Shirt is ideal for training like fan favourites Joey Barton, Shola Ameobi and Jose Enrique out on the training pitch with a lightweight, athletic fit coupled with strategic ventilation points and moisture management fabric to keep you feeling cool, dry and comfortable.

Comment #261GG, read lots of your input.
You have been there seen it, got many tee shirts no doubt.
This club has the potential to do things, even top 6, given a fair wind and some of the transfer window profits re-invested.
Been supportin this shower for over 45 years, my baby boy (18) is toon daft – why cant FCB see what could be?
He could make a real fortune if this club was allowed to fulfil its destiny.

Because he won’t be sticking around for long enough to bear witness to possible success. He has plans to keep the club for maybe another 3-5 years. To get us successfully challenging for Europe every season will take time and money which will have to be a long term investment. Ashley isn’t interested in the long term and plans to capitalise on profit for the time he has the club. We have spent the £35 million but we have been duped as to how its been used. In addition to the transfer/signing on fees it has also been used to pay the wages for the new contracts. So lets say Ba is on about £30k a week on a four year deal. Thats just over £6 million that has been taken out of the £35 mil for Ba’s wages. Our cash has gone because Ashley has been stingy. None of the money for our transfers has come out of his pocket even though this was his last chance to because of the fair play rules next year. I would expect many player sales next summer transfer window and the bare minimum brought in with the excuse we had to to comply with the new rules or we needed to clear debt.

Comment #266Hye guys check out this blog http://www.newcastleunited.us/
written by american fans but seemingly better informed, better-written and more concise than Ed’s blog (no disrepect intended). Think the guy who writes it is an actual journalist and his blog reads like a quality newspaper column, but just concerning the toon! It’s a decent alternative to this blog, which I think is a bit amateur at times.
