Nile Ranger Arrested After Man Found Unconscious With Broken Jaw

Newcastle’s 20 year-old striker Nile Ranger has been arrested after he supposedly broke the jaw of a man during a night out in Newcastle.

Nile Ranger – arrested and being questioned by Police

The Londoner is now being questioned by by police following the attack, which was outside Cosy Joe’s bar, in the Groat Market.

The 33-year-old man, whose jaw was broken was found unconscious in the street by police after the supposed attack, and he was immediately taken to hospital.

Nile Ranger, who is on the transfer list at Newcastle, was arrested soon after the man was found, and is being questioned by  police.

The news is being reported in the local Newcastle Journal,  and of course this will do absolutely nothing for Nile’s career on Tyneside, which already seemed to be over.

Nile had trouble at Southampton before he arrived at the  Newcastle club back in August of 2008, but he seemed to curb his ways and often said the move to Newcastle had saved him from a life of crime.

But the lad seems to have slid backwards into his old ways over the last few months, and this is not good news for anybody, including Newcastle United.

And it seems Alan Pardew lost confidence in the lad this summer after he was seen to be photographed with a gun in his hand dressed up as a gangster, and maybe that, plus his poor professionalism at Newcastle caused Pardew to give up  on the boy.

Chris Hughton at Birmingham is trying to do a deal for the 20 year-old but we have no idea if that deal will no go through.

We will not comment on this case, but if he’s in trouble again,  Nile has been a silly lad, and he seems on a  course that will not  take advantage of the fine football skills he’s been blessed with.

But it takes more than just skills to become a top class professional  footballer, as we all know.

Comments welcome.

Nottsgeordie-I think we can release him. It will be in his contract that he can be released free without pay If he gets into trouble again. Even Ashley isn’t that daft after the Barton drama from a few years ago. No club will pay a player while there in jail. Remember marlon king at Wigan??

I would not be at bothered if he never played football again. Hr was given a golden chance to make sumit of him self here and in foota in general. He was always late for training and he couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo, so if he goes the positive thing there it frees up a place for one of our academy to take the chance with both hands. Step forward Sammy Ameobi

‘Ranger has talent’….. remind me what his goalscoring record is…? 3 goals in 58 appearances… I know a lot of those were sub appearances but even so.

Get rid, don’t want these sorts of characters at the club

I think we would have very good grounds for sacking Ranger. We chose not to with barton and carroll for purely financial and rather immoral reasons. sadly Ranger is never going to be worth 35M to us, so get rid. Sick of hearing about his carry on in training and lack of professionalism.

Nobody can really comment on this as there are so few details.

    Mistaken identity?
    Self defence?

Benefit of the doubt to Ranger for now.

If he is guilty, similar or worse assaults have been dismissed/forgiven by NUFC and its fans.

Innocent until proven guilty, not that I dont belive hes not capible of it. I know he can be a good player but no player deserves to stay at Newcastle when they are doing things like this, they are representing the club and anything they do we get tarnishsed with. Somone needs to get this lad sorted coz hes going to just get worse. I think this lad is just too big for his boots, hes not a great player atm and the only way to sort him would be tofine him heavily and ban him from playing even for the reserves and then he may start to relise that he cant do things like this!

What a waste of time and effort this kid is.

Had the world at his feet a season or so ago and this is what he does to himself again and again.

    Release him. Simple as that.

Maybe he can further his career as a “gangsta” in the next Guy Ritchie film.

    “Lock, stock, lost the lot”

    Bye bye Nile

I can understand the comments made by people saying innocent till proven guilty which is only right but look at the facts

1, guilty of poor professlisim (turning up late for training)
2, guilty of posing with a gun. The camera never lies.

Some people in most professions apart from football don’t even get a second chance, so say he is forgiven by NUFC board how many chances does one person want? Another ungrateful chance waster dragging our proud and good name through the mud…. Again

    For anyone who’s interested:

Nolan Roux compilation since most of us have hardly heard of him until recently.

Not exactly a thorough brief of the player but some of his touches and in particular the goal he scores from some 30-35yrds out are pretty impressive.

Worth a look just in case we actually do sign him (or anyone else for that matter).

Guys like this get all the chances and piss it all away. How many normal people given his talent and opportunities would bend over backwards to suceed and not expect it as a divine right. I know I would they make my blood boil, get rid if he stays out of jail. Guilty or innocent its a lifestyle choice that puts him in these situations. I want role models not dickheads playing for this club.

What a waste! We should call it quits and release him. Shame that, he proves himself to be a handful when he is off the pitch as well as on it.

I’m not sure whether he wouldve been our saviour but if he kept his head down, worked on his finishing he would’ve been fairly decent.

I’m saying innocent until proven guilty, as for the other stuff, the “Gangsta Photo” was taken in his own property and was a replica gun, his unprofessional-ism is the only thing he can truly be castigated for IMHO.
He came to the club to be nurtured, to learn his trade and get game time and possibly progress to the 1st team.
we as a club have failed him as much as he has failed himself, if he was at any other club with any other regime he would have been loaned out to get proper experience and gametime in the lower leagues.
We though, do not have enough quality forwards as we have sold them all, when Nile came we had Oba, Owen,Viduka, Shola, and Lovaman as well as Carol, so he would probably have assumed he would go and get some games elsewhere and develope (like carol did). Since then though, we have filled the ranks with crap and frees, he has had 5 managers in that time who have either played him as a sub (with different crap strike partners ) and when he has come on he has changed the game.
Then when he plays well, whichever manager he has drops him for Strolla for gods sake, can you imagine how that must feel for a kid, not even being thought of above that useless gonk?
Now, he scores goals in the reserves and friendlies, plays well and don’t even make the bench for 1st team, even when Strolla hasn’t scored for about 8 months he gets on the squad before him because he gets pardew an apple everyday and buys him his dinner.
I’m not surprised he’s gone of the rails again, every one of his so called mentors and “Heros” have gone (Carol, Nolan, Joey).
We are the ones who have failed and I just hope its not too late for this talented boy.
I hope Chrissy comes in and rescues him, it might just get him the confidence he needs so he can come back to us and bang em in.

GeordieDan – Im not saying he didnt do it its just the fact that until its proven he done it we cant accuse or really say anything. He does think he is better than everyone else and tbh I hope he didnt do it but if hes not punished by the club if hes found guilty then theres something wrong.

When I was his age I was in the middle east with a real gun serving Queen & Country & would have given almost anything to be a footballer at the toon.

Ranger is wasting a talent & his life by the looks of it….time to get rid !

@ 35 weather it’s a replica gun or not it’s not the point, it’s a gun nd where the pic is taken doesn’t come into it. He is a pro footballer and is in the public eye and setting a example to young footballers and it also what image is it giving us? Yes he has a talent a raw one at that and to say we have failed him as a club thats just rubbish mate as when he knuckled down and grafted he got 58 games for us and we as a club can’t make him turn up on time, we can punish etc but we cant reward a player who doesn’t give us 100% that in it self is setting the wrong image to young players.

Let’s not be too hasty to judge, we don’t know if he’s guilty yet. Although it doesn’t look good…

He allegedly has a bad attitude at the club, sloppy timekeeping, relaxed attitude to training, problems with authority etc, and of course he has a criminal past, but nothing’s been proven yet.

This would be a real shame as Ranger has potential, he’s very raw but from what I’ve seen of him he has a wicked finish, a lot of pace and is very difficult to mark. But if he did do this then we’re not talking about a slap at a nightclub, this is serious and he will go to prison.

More negative headlines generated by off-field events- exactly what we don’t need. And we thought Barton was bad… but let’s not judge the lad until something is proved.
