Tamas Kadar has been selected for the Hungarian U21 squad to play in the European U21 Championship qualifiers coming up next week.
Tamas Kadar – why has he not played for Newcastle this pseason?
We cannot be the only ones who are wondering why Tamas had not played in one pre-season game for Newcastle, and we wonder what the 21 year-old’s status is at Newcastle.
6’2″ tall Kadar was very impressive when he’s played for the Newcastle first team, either at center-back or left-back and the Veszprém, Hungary born player has played 18 times so far for Newcastle.
Tamas was signed back in January of 2008 with some fanfare, from Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi TE, for whom he had played 14 times.
Tamas, like 19 year-old Haris Vuckic, had a bad time of it with injuries last season, and when the Hungarian full International was loaned out to Huddersfield Town last January, he suffered a hamstring injury in his very first game for the Terriers, and seemingly hasn’t played a game since.
And whereas Haris has been outstanding for Newcastle so far this season, and he made an excellent sub appearance in the win at Scunthorpe on Thursday night, but we’ve heard nothing at all about Tamas.

But the lad has just been selected in the Hungary U21 squad, so we assume he is not injured. Hungary will play Ireland at The Showgrounds in Sligo on September 1st (this Thursday evening), and then they entertain Italy at the Székesfehérvár Sóstói Stadium on 6th September, which is a week on Tuesday.
Dan Gosling has also been called up for the England U21 side for their games in the European U21 Qualifying rounds next month.
But we’d really like to know what the status of Tamas is, and maybe Alan Pardew can address that and let us know what’s going on.
