News in the Daily Mail today that Newcastle United have agreed a deal to bring 20 year-old Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon to Newcastle.
Davide Santon – £5M deal agreed with Inter Milan
The deal is said to have been struck at £5M, and we don’t know if Davide will be the one player to replace Josee Enrique, or whether Newcastle are still pursuing Aly Cissokho of Lyon and/or Erik Pieters of PSV, both of whom played for the clubs over the weekend.
One of the good things about Santon is that he can can play in either full back position, and he is also a very attacking player, and has already played 51 times for Inter Milan.
Newcastle were first linked with this player about 8 days ago, so at least the news seems to be consistent and could be true.
The 6’2″ tall youngster has played 7 times for Italy, and for all the Italian Youth sides since he was 16, and 12 times for the Italalian U21 side, and Davide has been at Inter-Milan since he was 16 years-old, and has played 51 times for the Milan giants.
He joined Ravenna Calcio, based in Ravenna, when he was he was a 10 year-old and the full-back spent the last six months on loan at Cesena, where he played 11 times.
And the other news this morning is that Newcastle are looking at signing Czech goalkeeper Petr Bolek on a season long loan deal.
The 27-year-old from Slovakian side FK Senica, is wanted as cover for Tim Krul and Steve Harper.
Leyton Orient also want the player and Bolek will be at Newcastle over the next day or two to take part in some training with the lads, before making a decision.
We’d be very happy if Newcastle can secure Santon, since he looks a very talented young player, who could do a job in the future for the Magpies.
What do you think?

Comment #82Munster – I agree with Ba’s first touch on Thursday being awful, but his touch before the cross to Best yesterday was perfect.
I don’t know what affect fasting is having on him (probably different for everyone), but I do think confidence has been key there. He looked an entirely different proposition yesterday and I do have a little optimism abou having signed him now. I do admit that I was a little concerned after his first two performances. Maybe he’s bedding in now.
blogspot – You alright mate? Ashley out?

Comment #83Oh, and I think Cabeye could turn out to be one of the best buys of the window. He grows a little taller and gets a little more involved with every game. He’s not used to the pace of the English game, but he’s adapting. Hopefully he doesn’t burn out, and we do have enough in midfield to rest him, or sub him off after sixty minutes.
He arrived on Tyneside to little fanfare, but apparently, the everyone in the French media was amazed that he’s left Lille. Whoever it was saying he was not all that great and we’d got a player nobody was fussed about, or his club were happy to let him go etc.. tryto remember that he was the captain of the team that won the double in France. He left a club with a Champions’ League place to come here. If he “disappears” during the game, it’s hardly surprising at the moment. He’s run twice as much in the last four games as he did in the first four games of last season. Once he acclimatises, I think he’s be one of our best players this season.
Likes to getstuck in and has a bit of grit too. I really like the lad.

Comment #84Watched in amazement yesterday while Manure totally humiliated Arsenal ! and Shitty ran rings round the Spuds!
If we get all the players in who we want and all goes well with injuries in the course of the season then we should by okay!
But “IF” and “‘SHOULD” may not stop Manure or Shitty! scoring 8 or 5 goals against us !
On the plus side Krul was superb yesterday and is the Dutch International keeper, and the Dutch are top of Fifa,s world rankings! This appears to be forgotten by the club when talking about our No 1 Keeper !
I ,me really pissed off with all this transfer bullshit and can,t wait for the window to slam shut !
Lets just: “Get a frigging move-on and sign someone” !

You open with “I dont get it” and you are absolutely right you don’t.
As for post # 47 you talk about jumping to conclusions yet all you have done is jump to conclusions and post them like gospel.
and your post at # 51 God it does make for tiresome reading trying to get past posts like yours, your delusions of adequacy are quite alarming.
quoteI was simply saying it how it is is in reality a de facto statement, and that coming from someone who is on the outside looking in shows strong delusional qualities.
Fortunately you name also being a link makes it possible to spot the inane ramblings before I start reading and just look past them. So feel free to continue to show off your lack of grey matter with your posts, I shall try to bother you no more.
