Metro is reporting that Newcastle United are interested in Senegal international striker Papiss Cisse.
Pappas Cisse – Newcastle linked with Bundesliga striker
It seems that Pappis has attracted interest from some English clubs since he scored an impressive 24 goals in 34 games for Bundesliga club SC Freiburg last season.
That record looks impressive, and his club have said that they have received three offers from three different club, and they have put a £13M price tag on the striker’s head.
That gives some doubt as to whether Newcastle owner Mike Ashley would bid £13M for a striker, given his rather frugal ways this summer, so we’re not sure if there is any truth in this report.
But it would be interesting if Cisse joined his International team-mate Demba Ba on Tyneside, and it could also be that Newcastle shock us by signing some striker that has not yet been linked with the club.
Fulham, whom Newcastle beat 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at St, James’ Park, is thought to be one of the other two clubs interested in the player, who is 6′ tall.
And according to the German magazine Kicker, Newcastle are among the clubs who are readying a bid for the player, but we wonder if that’s really true?
Cisse is 26 years old and signed for SC Freiburg in late December of 2009 from FC Metz for around £1.3M.
While at Metz, the Dakar Senegal born player, scored 28 goals in 72 appearances for the French club, and he has scored 7 goals in 9 appearances for Senegal.
We’re not sure if this report is close to the mark, but you never know.
