Sky Sports are reporting that Birmingham are closing in on a deal for Newcastle United’s young striker Nile Ranger.
Nile Ranger – Birmingham back in for him
Cameron Jerome is moving to Stoke City and former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is trying to sign Nile Ranger as a replacement, since the lad seems to have no future now on Tyneside.
There was news that Blackpool were in talks with the 20 year-old a couple of days ago, with the fee already agreed between Newcastle and Blackpool, and thought to be around £1M.
But Blackpool have apparently switched their attentions to Sheffield United’s Daniel Bogdanovic, so we assume that once again terms could not be agreed with Ranger, who signed a five year deal on Tyneside only last October.
Hughton used Nile Ranger at Newcastle during the promotion season, when he was the Magpies’ manager, and he guided the well, and it could be a good move personally for the Londoner, who seems to have slipped back to his old ways recently.
It’s not the first time that Hughton has been after Ranger, but previously he had tried to get the 20 year-old on loan, but Newcastle would like a permanent deal for the player, who joined Newcastle from Southampton in August of 2008.
We would expect this deal to go through today.

Yeah I know course we won’t get Sturridge, I’ve just been brainwashed by the reading the Ed’s propaganda too much :-).
Reckon I’ll be waking up in the middle of the night a couple of times to check what’s happening with the window though. Hopefully no nightmares, e.g. ‘Colo taking medical at Stadium of Plight…’

Comment #454danf98: nah, i’ve got a few clients with stoke links, they all reckon Stoke are looking to sign 2 strikers and a winger as well as wilson palacios! Doubt Rangers low wages are preventing us taking a new striker on! Smiths might be though…..

ssn listings, is this the same Cisse that we were linked with?
News: Bundesliga governing body DFL produce a transferable list – anyone not on this cannot move – No Papiss Cisse or Franck Ribery

Significant, as the player is very similar to Maiga. Deal back on lads.

Comment #463Inter have released Rivas, 28 and experienced at the back, would provide good cover for our threadbare centre half position and best of all it would be a free transfer, get him in,

Comment #471toonfan76 well said some fans have serious problems and look to the team to bring them happiness Ashley destroys the dreams of fans, Ashley gives us so much s**t if he would just tell us what he’s doing once in a while we might understand what’s going on, instead we get Llambias’s off the record briefings that just cloud the waters.

Comment #473This lad could have made it big as he has all the tools but instead all he is, is a complete nipple. A mate of mine was standing near him in town when he was on the drink, he overheard him say the following: ‘I’m a gangster first and a footballer second’. What a premier league twat!! Go away silly boy

Comment #474OttersPocket @ 430 if fans go to games it does make there opinion more important because without them we would have no club, I was told by someone on this site that I was not a true fan, even though I missed 1 game in the 1980’s and I was working in the Midlands too, its not about not being able to get to the match its often down to how much you want to go.
