Sky Sports are reporting that Birmingham are closing in on a deal for Newcastle United’s young striker Nile Ranger.
Nile Ranger – Birmingham back in for him
Cameron Jerome is moving to Stoke City and former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is trying to sign Nile Ranger as a replacement, since the lad seems to have no future now on Tyneside.
There was news that Blackpool were in talks with the 20 year-old a couple of days ago, with the fee already agreed between Newcastle and Blackpool, and thought to be around £1M.
But Blackpool have apparently switched their attentions to Sheffield United’s Daniel Bogdanovic, so we assume that once again terms could not be agreed with Ranger, who signed a five year deal on Tyneside only last October.
Hughton used Nile Ranger at Newcastle during the promotion season, when he was the Magpies’ manager, and he guided the well, and it could be a good move personally for the Londoner, who seems to have slipped back to his old ways recently.
It’s not the first time that Hughton has been after Ranger, but previously he had tried to get the 20 year-old on loan, but Newcastle would like a permanent deal for the player, who joined Newcastle from Southampton in August of 2008.
We would expect this deal to go through today.

Comment #87Even tho i dont rate Milner much anymore, if L’Pool sign him and Sturridge – i really cant see any way they’d not end up in a top 4 spot.

Comment #98When ever I see Ranger I think of a very unpolished Patrick Kluivert, He definitely has some ability but he will always be average at best cause he is just too lazy, plus his attitude is all wrong, grow up son and grow a set of B@lls!!!
Ship him out and wish him all the best!!!!
Houghton seems to manage him o.k. but he is obviously not pardew’s cup of tea.

Comment #106Trouble with Ranger is he can’t hit the back of the net,the amount of good chances he made himself last season then missed from 6 yards or less, shame cause he is a menace to mark.

Had a bid for Cisse rejected, said we’re going back in.
Sochaux saying no way they’ll let Maiga go now, no proper replacement in for them.
Goal just said we’re no longer interested in Macheda.
Hoping for Cisse.
