Davide Santon – Alan Pardew Has Been Fantastic With Me

If you watched the nufcTV piece on Davide Santon today on the official Newcastle site, you would have seen Alan Pardew moving around inside St. James’ Park with a big big smile on his face.

Davide Santon – wanted to come to Newcastle

Alan Pardew isn’t daft, and he must know he’s just signed a real quality youngster in Davide Santon from Inter-Milan.

But it turns out the Italian had a huge offer from the growing and very rich Russian Premier League, and also Italian club Roma were interested in acquiring the player, but it seems Davide wanted to come to Newcastle, which he has called an historic club.

By the way our other new signing, 25 year-old goalkeeper Rob Elliot from Charlton,  is also delighted to sign a five year deal on Tyneside, and in his nufcTV interview calls Newcastle fans the best in the world.

Davide Santon talked with the local Newcastle press again today and said how fantastic Alan Pardew has been:

“Alan Pardew has been fantastic with me. I was really impressed with him when I met him for the first time.”

“I really like him because he wants to speak to players as men.”  “Now I want to show him exactly what I can do on the pitch.”

“It is a big desire for me to do well for this club.”  “I want to pull on that black-and-white shirt as soon as possible.”

Alan Pardew seems to be an excellent man-manager and certainly he’s turned out to be so much better than we thought, and when he was signed last December we thought he’d be literally hopeless.

But he proved us dead wrong, and he seems to be able to handle big players and difficult ones too, like Joey Barton as just one example.

The Santon deal is said to have cost Newcastle £5.3M, as we revealed last night,  and Davide seems so excited and looking forward to playing for Newcastle, and that’s always great to see for any Newcastle fan.

And a delighted and happy Alan Pardew said today:

“He’s a player that I knew about and somebody who I thought would be a great acquisition for this football club.”

“I decided when it become accessible to us that we should not hesitate to go for him.”

“He has been the Italian Under-21 captain and everybody thinks he is going to be a very good player.” “He is a pedigree player.”

There’s little doubt Newcastle have made a stellar signing with this 6’2″ tall Italian youngster, and things will keep buzzing on Tyneside, as long as we can sign a top striker today.

Well done AP, thats all I can say, sounds like he and DL pulled this one in.

Hopefully his silver tongue can “wax lyrical” to a striker too!

Food for thought. Players signed under Pards

Cabeye, Marveaux , Obertan , Ba and now Santon.

    Not too shabby eh 😆

Do you think it is Pardew that has found these players or has he given a player profile to Carr and said find me a player like that?

Pardew himself said that NUFC squad is weaker than last season unless we get a LB and striker. We’ve still haven’t signed a striker so therefore our squad is weaker. 8 months to scout and find Carroll replacement and with 9hrs to go he’s still not been identified

It looks like Cisse is a no go!! Apart from Maiga and Macheda i would still try for Danny Sturridge. Old news maybe but he is just the type of striker we want. I would even take a loan if possible. The rat was on ssn before saying llambias was down in London could he be tying up a deal for Sturridge or Bendtner

    @ nufc1984

You’re scaring me now… I’d rather have Macheda on loan. According to Radiohead 2+2=5, let’s hope that is the case!

Lliambas is in the south, could be to make signing any striker from France/Germany easier due to travel time.

I know its a long shot and 99.9% not happening, but just wondering if we would all be up in arms or quite happy.

Been following this all morning and now afternoon. It’s quite hard to keep up with everything but for what it’s worth in case there is any confusion, the german transfer list only applies to transfers within the Bundesliga, NOT international transfers. Still, fingers crossed for a striker, hopefully Cisse. Like his style. Looks a natural goalscorer from what the videos show. What’s his work rate like?

and all these people talking about 4.5 mill for beckford? Its 4.5 mill too much!! Every time i’ve seen him he looks out of his depth. If we wouldn’t take him on a free then we ain’t gonna pay money for him!
