Newcastle have had a bid accepted for FC Twente’s Bryan Ruiz.
Bryan Ruiz – to decide between Fulham and Newcastle
But after Newcastle were said to be going after Bryan Ruiz just a few hours ago, you would have expected they would have had to match the Fulham bid of £10.6M, which they seem to have done.
Bryan will now presumably decide between Fulham and Newcastle, and you have to hope the Magpies will offer the Costa Rican International a decent wage.
But whether they can get the medical done, should the Costa Rican International decide on Newcastle, will be difficult but not impossible.
And Newcastle are said to have a helicopter on standby, and all ready to rush Ruiz to Tyneside to discuss terms, if he chooses Newcastle – so it seems Mike Ashley’s wealth comes in useful …… sometimes.
But in another late dramatic move by the club, Sky Sports are now reporting that Newcastle have made a late bid for Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell.
Liam Ridgewell
Ridgewell handed in a transfer request on Tuesday, in an effort to force a move away from the now Championship side, which is managed by former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton.
Newly promoted QPR and Swansea are said to be interested in the defender, and there is news that Swansea had a loan bid for the 27 year-old rejected earlier this week.
Liam, who stands 6’2″ tall, has spent his football career in Birmingham, having joined Aston Villa as a youngster back in 2001 from West Ham, and then he moved to Birmingham City in August of 2007 for a fee of £2M.
It seems Newcastle have woken up, but they are late again to the party for Ridgewell.
However, Liam would certainly help bolster the Newcastle rearguard and could be a decent signing, since we still think the defense could be the Magpies Achilles heel this season.
Laim can play center-back or full-back and therefore could play in a number of back four positions for Newcastle, and he was capped 8 times at the England U21 level.
But it’s not surprising that Birmingham have already turned down Liam’s transfer request earlier in the week.
However, as Newcastle have learned to their advantage, it’s not good good to keep dissatisfied players at a club. but whether the Tyneside club can close these two deals – for Ruiz and Ridgewell – so late in this transfer window, has to be high risk and even unlikely.
But we’ll know soon enough.
It’s just a pity Newcastle didn’t wake up a month or two ago.

Comment #93The problem now is, i think we are working on maximum capacity to drag Ruiz to Newcastle.
If that move were to fail, we won’t have any more time to do any further deal. So its Bryan Ruiz or nothing.
Hope for the best.

Comment #115Kaka to spurs is nothing special, hes half the player he was a few years ago.
If we can get Ruiz and Ridgewell that’d be great but I think its a case of Pardew coming out tomorrow and saying “Well we tried but clubs put their price up too high” once again. Then we await for the cycle to repeat in January.
