Newcastle failed to sign a top class striker in the summer transfer window, who was good enough to wear the number nine shirt at Newcastle and replace the departed Andy Carroll.
Ashley and Llambias – explanation needed
And since Andy Carroll departed on January 31st, how come Newcastle have now failed to replace him in all this time?
While I hesitate to criticize the club too much, because you are never privy to exactly what’s going on, it seems that the Newcastle Board now owe some kind of explanation to Newcastle fans -why no top striker was signed this summer.
And it also turns out that the net transfer spending this summer was almost exactly zero, and that is hardly consistent with the club’s statements, made through manager Alan Pardew in February, that they would reinvest the Carroll money back into the club.
The players we did sign were good, and some were really good, but the club didn’t get the job done this summer, and we’re now in almost exactly the same position we were in back on February 1st – short of a top striker.
I’ll not drag this out too much, other than to say the Newcastle Board need to explain to the Newcastle fans what exactly happened.
Comments welcome.

Comment #401These clowns plunge nufc further into crisis by the year. I dont believe they had any intentions of spending any of the millions they have clawed in from selling some of our best players to line their pockets. Clubs such as QPR & Stoke embarrasing us in transfer window. I’m gutted I’ve spent $15 a month on Setanta sports to watch toon in Canada, never mind you poor folk spending fortunes back home on season tickets – another sad day for NUFC.

Comment #402What a terrible transfer window, Ashley and lambias should be booted all over toon! Yeah they brought in decent signings, but to spend no money and not sign a striker, taking the piss out of Geordies, they should be ashamed and I hope if any Geordie sees them then they make them feel ashamed. I’ve tried to see it from their point of view, but I’m soo angry, they are scum and they need out, threats are no good, action needs to be taken.

Comment #404Well by jan 2nd 2012 we will have had 20 games in the Premier league. I hope that we look strurdy by then coz we have no cover in CB areas, and we didnt get that elusive striker that we have been searching for….where the f**k was he looking? I have been patient and although i have slagged Ashley off, I understand the debts that the club had were going to crush us. The kids on here are crying out why didnt we get a 30M rated striker…coz this is real life. However to not get Macheda on loan or to go for Shane Long a couple of months ago seems very odd to me. Even the Mackems managed to get Bendtner over the ‘line’. I have many questions that need answering, where is the cash? will it be invested in January with the interest (chortle)? Why have we resorted to tapping players up and trying to hijack other clubs deals? Why didnt we speculate and buy Papiss Cisse? And who will explain what happened to us?
I think that we need to lay off Pardew as he takes Carr’s advice on players to the board and they f**k it up for us. Ashley is using us to line his pockets and make us sustainable. Might be too late when we are in the champoinship.

Comment #405Also we have made some great signings this summer, but I fear with a view to sell them in a year or two. WITHOUT GOALS WE ARE SCREWED
After a good start to the season, we have ruined it. Krul was man of the match against Scunny and Fulham and that is a worry. Unless the masses believe that Best n Ba will get even 10 each I think were in trouble. I hope that plan B or C that Pardew had will have backups of D,E,F and the rest of the F**king alphabet coz he has no clout at the club. Ashley can do what he likes to us….and that is sad 🙁

Comment #406Yes, we all hoped and expected for some crazy signings in the dead line. We all hoped MA and Lamarse get out ot our club, and of course, we all up when we get like Santon, and down when we lose potentially youngster like Shitu. But what’s we got now?
I, for myself will waiting and counting every single day to the Saturday, where our match could be available on sopcast or smthing, to see our man play. Even we win, or lose, or relegated, I’ll still be one of Toon support. I dont care about trophies, I dont care bout Rooney or Caroll. I want our team play with highest spirit which I was saw in the first time we win Leed 4-3 in charged of sir Bobby and became Toon since then.
Let’s move on. Ma and Lamarse will not let our club relegated once more, cause they’ll lose their money. If Ba&Best can’t score, they’ll think about another man. If we’re sort of defend, they’ll bring another guy. We love No.9 but, we’re got 5 striker already right?
Keep the faith, and be a man!

Comment #408Well can,t say i was expecting much on the final day before the window shut!
Now its shut i,me pleased at this is, at least we aint signed no crap! ( Crouch or Carlton Drole !).
In general though we hav,nt got a star striker but we are still winning games, but for how long?
Welcome to Newcastle Davide Santon! you must be wondering , “have i done the right transfer “! and “Christ, what have i stepped into here!.
Knew somehow deep in the pit of my stomach that this was going to happen!
Are we so naive or just plain stupid! Our midfield and defence is coming on strong but hang on, we don,t appear to have the nonce to sign a decent striker to score the goals!
Seen posts on here listing the names, of players we been linked with! and their are many!
As soon as were linked, a circus of unending bullshit erupts on here like- “children spitting out their dummies” !
Well, this window was,t too bad, but could of been better if a striker had been found who was willing to play for us, but we aint signed one!
Ashley is sitting with about 49Mil and is balancing his books well, Collo and Jonas may be gone in Jan and maybe Vukic from the youth squad too!
As soon as we become interested in a player, his asking price increases by an average of 6 Mil and, it does,nt matter who it is, exhorbitant personal terms are requested by Fat agents who get fat commissions !
We seem to get screwed every time, and i just feel empty! every time, and, every time blame and swearwords are printed on here as if we did,nt know this was going to happen!
We must be the most Naive and Faithful set of supporters in the whole Prem!
What a circus!!!
Lets now just let the Dust ( Bull) settle and see where we are this time next month!!!!!!

Comment #409From: http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.com/
Sound familiar:?
1) “I have to put £20m a year into the club — I spend more than every other fan put together puts into the club each year.”
Amount of money coming in from bums on seats:
2004 – £33.9m
2005 – £35.3m
2006 – £30.9m
2007 – £33.6m
2008 – £32.4m
This is just matchday. Not including replica strips, tours, play on the pitch, merchandise etc.
2) “The one thing I said to Mike yesterday was, ‘Look, if this boy is going to go, this money has to be reinvested in the team, all of it’, and he has assured me of that. For the Newcastle fan, that is the most important message I can give today, that all that money will be used.”

Comment #412I am sure Derek Lameass will be coming out shortly to say how the club is committed to invest the full 35M in the Jan transfer window, and Pardoo will echo that.
Geez, that will open another window of hope for all NUFC fans (me inclusive!) to eagerly look forward to… Bring it on!!!

Comment #415We could have this article any time in any transfer window, the miss management of this club is so predicable.
Just get a grip on the FACT Ashley just wants ALL his money back .
Then any only then will he put the club back up for sale.
Until then, this is what we have got, so we have to live with it.

Comment #416They dont need to explain we know that they waited until last minute to sign a player who already agreed a deal with another club who are playing in europe, they knew it was never gonna happen, they don t give a fuck about NUFC and this is just so they can say”well we tried” when really they didnt. why werent they offering 11m to to other players??? wouldnt go above 7m! so full of shit.

Comment #417Surely the whole reason we are upset is not because Ashley isn’t spending, because not all teams do, its because he promised to spend and hasn’t. If he wants to turn the club into a money-making business, don’t promise funds that you aren’t going to make available every transfer window. If Ashley doesn’t like losing money (his penalty for owning a football club which should have been made known to him before he bought it) he should sell. Its scary that all the facts seem to point to him trying to liquidise his assests (our best players) to maximise his eventual sales profit under a shrowd of lies and broken promises.

Comment #418Well it’s safe to say I knew it would end up like this but I’m still absolutely devestated!
Around lunchtime they wheel someone out infront of the waiting media and feed us the usual sh*t sandwich.
I can’t believe they think that the public will buy their lies again. It stands to reason they didnt even try to sign Ruiz, bidding 11million out of nowhere after they’d not bid over 7million for the whole rest of the transfer window. And Ruiz was practically signed sealed and dellivered for Fulham. It was nothing more than a PR stunt, backed up by the president of FC twente who claimed Newcastle hadnt even bid for him.
I read on here in the early evening yesterday the amount of muppets stating things like “I cant wait for the neggers to eat humble pie when we sign Ruiz”
Typical morons who believe Ashleys propoganda and allow him to function at the club exactly how he wishes.
The sane ones amongst us have known from the very start that Ashleys game plan is to save as much money as he can. He might have replaced Enrique but it was still at a profit.
Today we will hear about potential players signing in January (which again is absolute tripe) and in January they’ll give us the old line “clubs dont want to sell their best players halfway through the season. We will have to wait for the summer”
What transpired last night was once again an absolute joke, even Sunderland managed to get a centre forward through the door. We had no intention of doing the same.
If Pards has any backbone he’ll walk away. But he also has no intention of doing so as he’s part of the Cockey Mafia crew and knows his place. I dont go along with those of you who feel sorry for him because im sure he knows exactly the score before each window. What he says in the press confrences is always just more smoke and mirrors to cover Ashley and Lambias.
It’s now a proven FACT that Ashley has lied AGAIN.
Judge us at the end of the window they said. Well they can count themselves well and truely judged. And the verdict is: GET OUT OF THE CLUB!

Comment #422If you’re real supporters get behind the lads that areleft and the new ones that have come in. All this talk of boycotts is futile. The man is hated & he must now realise it. Perhaps it will urge him to put the club up for sale again. Nobody is ever gonna believe a word he says ever again. Worry is no depth in squad to cover injuries and suspensions. No doubt off load other big earners Collo & Jonas in next window & cash in on Tiote. All this talk of finishing 10th. Is there a trophy for that now then? Will be over the moon with 17th. Best Ba Shola & kids will really need to step up to the plate.Smaller club now than Stoke, QPR & Fulham. On a par with Blackburn, Wolves Bolton & West Brom. Everton, Wigan, Swansea & Norwich should be our saving grace.
Massively disappointed

Comment #423remember when cole was sold to man utd, fans were up in arms over it and demanded answers, which kevin keegan was man enough to meet head on, he gave his reasons and when the summer came around we did indeed sign a good replacement 9 sir les. and a few other very good lads to. we improved. under this regime he doesnt care if we improve or go down because he has his little puppet to make his excuses and mr pardew you aint man enough to get respect from anybody so why would anybody sign 4 u???? get out of ashleys pocket things seriously need to happen now, SACK THEM ALL
