The Daily Mail is reporting that Papiss Demba Cisse’s move to Newcastle has fallen through.
Papiss Demba Cisse – Newcastle end interest?
The chances of Newcastle pulling off this deal were never bright, although they did go in with a reported £10M offer for the Senegal striker on Monday.
The Freiburg club rejected that £10million offer from Newcastle and boss Alan Pardew seems to have now ended his interest in the top striker.
We suppose Newcastle will now bid again for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga, although the chances of doing that deal seem equally small, with Sochaux understandably unwilling to sell, unless they can get a replacement in today.
If Newcastle miss out on these two strikers there was news earlier today that they may bid £5M for Genk and Belgium International striker, 23 year-old Marvin Ogunjimi.
That news was also reported by the Daily Mail, and we’re not sure if there is much truth in the report, but it would appear that Marvin was low down on the totem pole.
If Newcastle’s bids for their striker targets are not successful today, we suppose Newcastle will wrap up a season long loan deal for 20 year-old Italian striker Frederico Macheda from Manchester United.
But Newcastle should really have brought in another permanent striker during this transfer window to replace the departed Andy Carroll, and that player should have been good enough to wear that famous number 9 Newcastle shirt.
Comments welcome.

Comment #100I’d be gutted to get Bendtner. For me it’s not just about what he can do with the ball at his feet (which is not very much) its also about the impact he would have on our team spirit. Players like Cabaye are quiet, sensible, dedicated and not an ego-maniac. Bendtner is not dedicated to football at all, he just wants his new pink boots, and a flashy car.
I live around many Arsenal supporters and their desire to see him leave resembles our desire to see Alan Smith, Nile Ranger and James Perch leave.

Comment #101Situ has signed for Swansea apparently. Shame as I was genuinely excited about him, huge powerful defender who has captained France at every youth level up to u19. And we look light for centre back cover…

Comment #102I’d take Bentnar now like – for £7m, Sturridge isnt going anywhere (Seriously Lads would u leave Chelski while Drogba is fkcd and Torres cant hit a Barn Conversion (never mind a Barn Door)!??? I agree that this new striker we sign (i’m confident we’l get someone) should have to work for the No.9 shirt. Any rumours with any substance?

Comment #112Agreed Sgt. Heagerty – Hence why it was a good deal for us.
Just not the same doing it at a different club.
I know most of us are enjoying watching that happen and I half think the club saw that his head was in the wrong place, maybe down to the likes of Nolan who was offered a contract and then walked out on us almost.
Best of luck to them, you can have your money because we still have love for our clubs which they’ll NEVER feel anywhere else!

Papiss Demba Cisse (Freiburg) reports of a failed bid from Newcastle, Freiburg official claims to have received bids from three un-named clubs below their valuation.
Marvin Ogunjimi (Genk) French media tale, no quotes.
Eric Mouloungui (Nice) French media tale, no quotes.
Federico Macheda (Manchester United) no updates since Tuesday on a loan deal to SJP or anywhere else.
Nolan Roux (Brest) rubbished by the Brest chairman, who confirmed that his €8m buyout clause has now expired.
Modibo Maiga (Sochaux) Having vowed to report us for an illegal approach, the Sochaux chairman said on Tuesday that the departure of Maiga to SJP was still a possibility.

Comment #116Also, I love the excitement, this is what transfer deadline day is about, but everyone needs to calm down with linking the fact that Llambias is in London to every player possible.
It’s a capital city and Llambias spends most of his time there anyway.
