We put out a story earlier today that we expected Nile Ranger to be moved out on loan next week, when the loan window opens. That seemed fairly obvious.
Nile Ranger – Newcastle will not sanction a loan move
But rather surprising news in the Sunday Sun today that Nile Ranger will not be allowed out on loan, and the club would prefer to sell the 20 year-old, with the transfer price said to be set at £1.5M.
And don’t think this has anything to do with Newcastle failing to bring in another striker on Wednesday – no such logic seems to exist.
That’s because the representatives of Ranger were at the club last Monday, and were told that Newcastle would not sanction a loan move, and of course Nile was almost sold to Birmingham on Wednesday as a makeweight in having defender Liam Ridgewell come the other way.
The leaves Ranger is a precarious position at the club, because it would seem he will be in the wilderness at least until January, with Alan Pardew unlikely to play him in the first team.
Indeed he is not even part of the first team squad at Newcastle and currently trains with the Reserve or Development squad, and Demba Ba, Peter Lovenkrands, Leon Best and the two Ameobi brothers are ahead of him in the striker pecking order at Newcastle.
Nile’s agent Nick Rubery had this to say about the situation:
“United have made it clear there will be no movement.” “It is frustrating for Nile he will not get that opportunity, but it is not up to him or us.
“He just has to get on with the situation and work hard.”
It’s now up to Nile Ranger to put his head down and work hard and keep himself out of trouble off the pitch.
The lad has the ability, but he will never be successful until he commits himself fully to his football career, and right now could be a very good time to start doing that.
Comments welcome.

Comment #202@Munstermag-If we can’t afford Situ for 200K then we certainly won’t offer 1.5 million for anyone. If we manage to sell anyone then we can use some of that money for a cheaper player, maybe. Depends how Ashley and Llambias are feeling that day.

To be fair, I’m sure there’s a decent reason we didn’t sign Situ. It’s a bit over the top of people to suggest we didn’t buy him because 250k was too much for us.
At the end of the day either he wasn’t good enough, or he wanted first team football.

Comment #204@toondownsouth- All i’ve heard is that he was good enough but his agent wanted a release clause in his contract which we supposedly refuse to allow. Just rumors though.

Comment #205That seems a little dumb. But I guess pretty much every player on the continent has a release clause.
It would seem strange if we wouldn’t allow it, seeing as the first decent offer we got he’d be off anyway!

Would still like to hear Lamearses explanation though now he can’t hide behind Pardew! Massive credit to Pardew for the way he’s handling things.

Comment #207Situ told Swansea’s official website: “I was told about Swansea’s interest about 10 days ago and I have been researching the club ever since on the internet.
“I’m really excited about joining Swansea and the Premier League. I watch the Premier League on TV a lot back home and I am a big fan.
“There was interest from the likes of Fulham and Newcastle, but Swansea were the ones who wanted me the most and I am delighted to be here.
“I have met the manager and I am looking forward to working with him and gaining from his experience.”

We’ve had a summer of players pretending we’re their dream club 😉 Although fair play to Marveaux for the “Newcastle weren’t my first choice” line!

Comment #212Agree with what someone said earlier if you boycott, the next star player sold to balance the books could be as a result of the boycott and as a fan you don’t want that on your conscience.
We won’t know Ashleys true intentions till we break even and start making a profit and as we have no potential buyers and no way of knowing if they would be any better anyway. After all most people thought Ashley would be better than Shepard so it might be better to see his plan through but no more broken promises and someone worthy of the no.9 shirt in the next window will be a good start but we are yet to see any evidence that Ashley has took money out of the club unlike Shepard.
We already have the makings of a very good team wii patience and a few tweaks. All we can do is stay loyal and back the team, stand all game every game backing the players with 100% vocal support and a little bit of civil disobedience. We more than ever as fans have to show we are the twelth man. I’m proud to be a Geordie and nothing is gonna bring me doon has got to be our attitude, our reputation depends on our loyalty. We are the loyalist football supporters the world has ever had or are we not?

Comment #213Boycotts are a waste of time, you have to hit him hard if you mean to force him out, and the only way l can see this happening would be for all season tiket holders to stop paying their direct debits.
This of course would have to mean the supporters were organised and be prepared to follow a democratically arrived at vote, fortunately for the fans we have a group of dedicated and concerned individuals collectively called NUST who you could probably join and ask to retain the debit payment until Mr Ashley came to his senses and decided it would be better to establish (kicking & sceaming) a dialogue with them and ask them to help him in his great social project.
The monies owed to Mr Ashley could then be returned after a pledge (legally binding) to respect its customers wishes and jointly his fellow directors (NUST) publish and stick to a binding plan for the future success and financial security of the club.
The problem with this idea is the supporters are never united and this is why we are a joke to other TOP clubs who cannot believe how lucky they are we we are a bloody shambles and a laughing stock to other supporter groups.
The joke is and the TOP clubs understand it, is just how fantastic we could be, one city club, fanatical fans, it could be an English Barcelona, the joke is it won’t happen or if it ever does we stubble over it by chance and not out of logical neccessity.

Comment #217No to boycott but I suppose it is easy to boycott a game when you wouldn’t attend anyway. When you go to a theatre to be entertained by what you see do you slag the owner of the company off, before, during or after the show. Just enjoy it, be part of it. If you don’t want to see the show just do not go to the theatre.
Ashley when he came was enjoying the ownership bit, did things that were popular. Drinking with the fans, sitting with the fans, sacked Allerdyce. He stated he had a five year plan, buy young, develop talent and grow into a top side. Then he made mistakes. Hired Keegan, hired Wise. They were both useless and incompetent. Keegan threw his dummy out, again, and walks out on the club, again. At the time he stated there was a very good squad with a tremendous dressing room spirit. A good start had been made to the season. The fans were upset that The Messiah had walked out again. It couldn’t possibly be Keegan, because he stated he loved the fans, the club, the staff, the town. He had been upset by Ashley, so stuff everybody, he’s off. Uproar ensued. Sky Sports loved it,cameras eberywhere

Death threats, venomous comments about anyone and everyone at the club and possible next manager. Team morale sank without trace, no decent manager would consider a move to NUFC the way the fans were portrayed. Valuable points losses, did the fans play their part in the subsequent relegation, very possibly. I know that criticising the fans is difficult but if you give it out you have to take it. We were left with Kinnear and later Shearer who also failed as a manager. The overpaid stars including Nolan, Barton and Enrique in a supposedly strong squad, Martins, Owen, Viduka, Duff had stopped playing and the rest is history. I would have liked another signing a striker and centre back. I would like to be at the top of the league. I will support my club, my team and not spit my dummy out. If you think it is bad now you obviously are new to supporting NUFC. By the way the attendances could be low due to holiday period, finances and playing at 1Pm on a Sunday. Stay positive, support the team, support what we have. HWTL

Comment #219No boycott? what are we going to do if Pardew has had enough and walked out, don’t forget his pay is largely bonus led and if he is not given the striker he needs in his view we will finish lower in the league.
Will you organise then or are you still going to be selfish and (support the team because we are the BEST SUPPORTERS IN THE WORLD bolloc++.

Comment #227This will be a complete disaster if Pardew has walked because we will all argue about how to get rid of him or use his powers in a way that will help Newcastle United become a success.
The only way to do this in my view as l said above is to stop your direct debits and be prepared to transfer them to a democratically organised group (NUST) but l very much doubt the majority of fans have the intellect to work this out (no offence intended)

Comment #228My problem with the ownership of the club is only really these to factors:
1. Unless bids for our players are crazy I.e. Carroll I don’t want them to be sold – I.e. Build a team.
2. I want them to spend a little more in order to secure a target. Im not saying throw money at it like Owen, Boumsong etc, just be sensible I.e. If they want £2m more for Pieters and he is a top target, then after some test the water bids, that is what is needed if the other club hasn’t folded.
3. And for the board not to lie and communicate more. Chris Mort was good for the club at the time.
That is it really. For me that is what it would take to make me confident that we were trying to develop as a club.
I can understand that people want Ashley out because of all thing mistakes he’s made. What I see though, is that I love the fact we are only buying under the age of 26, I’ve always thought along the lines of this and it’s always been blindingly obvious to me to sign players of that age.
I just want to go to the match and see good football and be looking to improve to the point of challenging for honours.
We’ve signed some very capable players in the summer and the only really disappointment was that we didn’t get a couple more including a striker. But if we balance what we do have with the risk of a change of owner, policy etc, how long before that settles? 2-3 years? I can’t be bothered to sit through a change of management/players etc again. A manager cud be brought in who likes defensive football more, not what Pardew is trying to do with attacking football, which I certainly want to see. There’s no guarantee that the next lot will know what they’re doing either. Look at Blackburn’s new owners.
The good thing about an owner willing to spend though would mean we could go for Carr’s higher targets like martin etc but is that what the next manager would want?
If we hadn’t brought in anyone in the summer or one or two I would def be wanting the board out, but apart from not bringing in our number 9, which is unacceptable, I think we’ve signed some good young players.
A new overhaul can bring in more problems than we had had in the first place. Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, Allardyce the list is almost endless and that’s only in very recent years. Who’s to say a better manager than Pardew would come in?
We’ve started the season well with some good results. Support your club, things could be a lot worse. I’m looking forward to the next game. Howay The Lads.
