Sammy Ameobi’s goal in extra time at Scunthorpe United was a thing of beauty to behold.
Sammy Ameobi – the lad with the electric feet
The local lad with the electric feet, got the ball on the left wing, and jinxed his way forward, with four players marking him, and of course using his left foot all the time.
And he then moved inside and to his right, and lo and behold hit an unbelievable right foot shot into the corner of the net for the winner – and Newcastle were in the third round of the Carling Cup. And the TV commentators went wild.
And to think most of us thought that right leg of Sammy’s was just to stand on.
But Alan Pardew has revealed today the 19 year-old has been improving all the time in training over the last few months, and it’s unlikely he will now be sent out on loan, since he’s too valuable to the Newcastle first team squad.
This is what Alan told the local press today:
“For the last four or five months he has been improving every day.” “He can be a big player for us, but he needs to concentrate on his game.”
“He’s got a great brother behind him who is a fantastic character at this football club.” “Sammy also has great parents, so he has a great chance to be a big player at Newcastle.”
“Some of the things you get out of him are unbelievable. When he gets into certain situations you just think ‘get rid of it’.
“But he brings two or three players into games and once he wriggles out of those situations they become active.” “He also showed what he can do in terms of scoring goals.”
Sammy has been so good of late we expect that if he keeps up his excellent form, he will even get a call from the England Youth sides.
And to end this article, take one more look at Sammy’s fantastic goal – I feel so much better after looking at this a few more times today. Howay The lads!!

I guess that he’s gone to Libya for a bit peace and quiet and he’s keeping in touch daily!

Comment #5Lets just hope he gets the playing time.
Carroll was held back too long and I honestly feel that Ranger had great potential but became disillusioned with a lack of playing time hence his attitude.

Comment #7Premiership Manager: Ranger’s always had a bad attitude that’s why he got kicked out of Southampton He could have played every game last season & his attitude would be exactly the same.

Comment #10Looking forwards to seeing more of him. More goals like that and he’s legend.
On another point, surely two Amiobis should be ‘Amiobi’ or at least ‘Amiobii’

Comment #12I wish we could get Lambias out of the club. We are stuck with Ashley but I really wish we had a different Chairman. If we were told the clubs policy and why we do things then we could all understand, but the silence and smug nature of that horrible man Lambias gets me down. Open, honest and genuinely warm communication from the board would change things for me. Buy why is that awful, smarmy, and aloof tw*t allowed to continue in his job?

Comment #13Sameobi is one of the finest young talents around. I hope he gets a lot of playing time this season. Then we can all argue about where the money has gone for him when he signs for Liverpool……….
Seriously though. I love this kid. He could teach shola a trick or two.

Comment #17Sammy Still needs a lot of work, he is enthusiastic, and will run at people every chance he gets, but his legs cannot take 45mins just yet. We should get him to train with Gutierrez, because if Sammy can run for as long as him, we will have a very exciting youngster on our hands, we have all seen that he can score, and he seems to be capable of a dangerous cross as well. He just needs someone to help him with his stamina and he will be ready to push for a 30 min sub appearance to add a spark to the game, or run the defenders ragged

That and his ball retention…
A couple of silly balls given away against Scunny but the promise this lad shows going forwards had everybody sit up and watch.
Great player to bring on as an impact bust just hope that he continutes to show the promise of such a bright young talent.

Thats where i think ferguson is miles ahead.of others..the way he uses the ball to keep possession is like someone who has been in the team for years. He maybe hasnt got the explosiveness of sammy but does have a skill and a burst of pace.
Fergie is much more of a starter for me….sammy can change the game off the bench.

Yeah, I agree with you.
Only problem for them both is that the left side whilst light in back up, is probably one of the few assured positions on the pitch?
You will 9/10 times say Santon and Jonas get the nod.
Unless Marveaux, Sammy, Fergie looks even better than Jonas, he will rightly start.
Fergie is the only other you’d play at LB but he seems more adept to a LW role?
Jonas played every game for us last season and has looked great in both directions for us so far. Defenders still can’t work him out and hopefully his end product improves and he will start to really hurt teams.

Comment #40M’vila is indeed a DM and a great hope of french football. He’s praised by Blanc as being the “prototype of the future french player”.
Which mean is not the traditional number 6, but a more polyvalent player.
More technical and more offensive.
He’s 21 years old and 6 feet tall.
