Well maybe Joey Barton has finally realized that it doesn’t work when he keeps bad mouthing the Newcastle club.
Joey Barton – never say a bad word again about Newcastle
Joey had the cheek to send out one of his tweets on Thursday, basically ridiculing Newcastle because they had failed to bring in a top striker, but we wonder if the FA or the powers that be in football were happy with that?
It could be that it was all handled quietly and offline, but you cannot have Joey bad mouthing clubs and the powers that be at the club, even though owner Mike Ashley and Managing Director Derek Llambias are not well liked on Tyneside.
It may be a changed Joey Barton who has talked today, and this is what Joey told QPR’s official website today:
“The fans were brilliant at Newcastle,”
“In my last couple of seasons there, they’ve supported the football club through thick and thin. I’ll always have a relationship with them.”
“We had a journey with them – not just me, but a number of players in the squad – when the club dropped out of the Premier League.”
“That could have been a difficult and turbulent time in the club’s history, but we regrouped as a playing staff and decided that we’d dig deep.”
“And not only get the club back to the Premier League, but to stablize it quite comfortably last season.”
“What’s gone is gone. I’m never going to say a bad word about the football club or the fans. I wish them every success.”
Joey not criticizing Newcastle from now on (he’s never ever adversely criticized the fans), will be a welcome relief to be sure.
Newcastle must have an excellent chance of making it four wins on the trot at Loftus Road on Monday night, and that’s what we’ll be hoping for, but it will by no means be an easy game.
Comments welcome.

I was being sarcastic because he said the player’s decided to dig deep AFTER we were relegated and the fact that they should be “digging deep” regardless of the situation with their wages. If I decided i wouldn’t try at my job until a review was around the corner and just decided to “dig deep” for a week or so, I would be out of a job.

Comment #19Haha, I read it Boom Boom, just didnt see the key words ‘dig deep’ lol.
I’d boo AC like eaststand. The man had every geordies dream on a plate and he walked away from it for more money.

Comment #22I really dont know like eaststand, the circumstances were different with Joey.
He knew he wasnt going to get a new contract so it was either play here for the last year then hope a club comes in for him next summer, or secure the next 5 years of his career now.
I’d probably cheer him on footballing terms but call him a c**t at the same time as I don’t like him as a person lol.

Comment #23Club always come first. No ex-staff can bad mouth his ex-employer and make it looks embarrassed. This is “professionalism”.

Comment #29I think most people would boo the hell out of Carroll when he comes back.
Offered a new contract and given his ‘dream’ that he didn’t fancy sticking through for more than 6 months?
Offered a new contract in October and demanding a new one in January?
In trouble constantly for altercations both in and outside of the club yet he was still celebrated as a hero?
We’re very fickle people but that boy is a scum bag and took as us all for a ride.
Funny how he’s STILL never come out and spoken on the whole situation isn’t it?
All players (Joey, Carroll and Nolan) had a chance to stay at our club.
Joey I can understand leaving for the long term contract etc but no ‘bigger’ clubs would have wanted him hence why he’s at one of the relegation candidates now.
Nolan left for stability, playing time and more money – Fair play.
Carroll left because he wanted to double his wages.
(My personal views on it all!)

Comment #30How am I on a high horse? I was talking to eaststand about something, actually talking about the points rather than insulting each other, then hartlepool jumps in and calls eaststand a chubby lover.
If you can’t form a decent arguement its best to keep your mouth shut as it makes you look the idiot.

Comment #33Barton was a fantastic player just an awful character, i rated him due to his love for the game and the club… couldn’t have loved it that much though to leave for QPR.
Reason being our ownership, same with carroll, Nolan, Enrique and KEEGAN

Comment #39I dont think jose will get it too bad. I know he d1cked about with his contract for the last 6 month before he left but he gave us years of good service, hoping to play in europe one day, eventually realised it would take forever with us so went to liverpoo who should qualify for at least the europa this season, maybe even steal 4th place.
